QUOTE(shreaker @ Jun 21 2006, 01:02 AM) Vista is NOT finished. Noone is forcing you to use the beta. [EDIT] Also, RAM is cheap nowadays. 2GB RAM will possibly be a norm by the time Vista is released. You rite man. Im using 1GB ram now. I can see the lag & Im planning to upgrade 2GB+

If you running a few programs such as YM, WLM, Firefox, iTunes/Winamp, there will be no lag. Some programs that belongs to WinXP are unappropriate/unsuitable for Vitsa & this will cause lag. You might want to disable appearance setting to boost up performance Repost : Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 2 Software Compatibility ListThis post has been edited by rad: Jun 23 2006, 06:47 AM

It is in term of processor speed, not the FSB. IIANM, the 800MHz is the processor speed (eg. Pentium 3). This is the most 'cikai' spec that able to run Vista. If 800MHz is the at least requirement, that means Athlon 64/FX/Opteron is the spec. So, it's not the FSB. Correct me if Im wrong. This post has been edited by rad: Jun 24 2006, 07:17 AM

Pentium 3 as the most 'cikai' processor to run vista? well vista is using a lot of graphic power and speed.. if it depends on FSB, logically acceptable coz a lot of Pentium's processor with 800 MHz or 1066 MHz FSB is a powerful processor, its minimum to EM64T already at Pentium 4 3.73 GHz..or mayb AMD Athlon 64/FX/Opteron with 2000 MHz FSB..

M$ always quotes a very very minimum requirement every time if you haven't noticed by now which usually is decent enough just for the OS to run, but not with everything else added in. So technically they are correct, since it is indeed the minimum system requirement for the OS to run without anything else. The most basic form of Vista would probably not have the more graphics intensive fancy eye candy enabled but would just have the standard Windows classic look which explains the lower requirements in term of graphics. AFAIK, system requirements are stated in processor speed as fariz has said and not FSB. This post has been edited by shockw@ve: Jun 24 2006, 08:09 AM

Is there any firewall software which is supported by Windows Vista? I'm using Windows Firewall now and I don't feel safe. Besides that, does anyone know how to make my Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 work on Windows Vista? I tried installing Windows XP's driver but Windows says it doesn't detect any Sound Blaster Live! card on my system. I'd be glad if someone could lend me a helping hand, thanks.

Firewall: Windows Vista Beta 2 Software Compatibility ListCreative : Windows Vista - Driver Availability ChartThere are 3 working firewall softwares in the software compatibility list. Try which suits you best. It seems your sound driver not listed in the chart. Try install it manually (read my previous post).

Now I don't have to use my onboard sound card anymore. Regarding Windows Firewall, what do you think? Is it any good compared to other 3rd party firewall softwares?

Windows Vista Build 5456 Released Microsoft has just released an updated version of Windows Vista to technical beta testers. Build 5456 is available in either x86 or x64 flavors right now on Microsoft Connect. Neosmart just posted some additional information about this build: "Some of the new features include a revamped Aero/DWM subsystem, and a completely overhauled and siginficantly less obtrusive UAP for all those that couldn't stand the previous one. From what we have been told by Microsoft, the Time Zone bug that plagued previous builds of Windows Vista has been patched, and quite a few fixes in the Regional Settings and IME have been patched." This is the first beta release of Vista since Microsoft released Beta 2 to a much wider testing audience in late May. Windows Vista 5456 @ Microsoft Connect http://9down.com/story.php?sid=6825is it true ? where to download ? This post has been edited by fariz: Jun 25 2006, 10:03 PM
