hahax... no doubt the seach tools is useful and significantly fast with jus a few keystokes and whatever folder u are looking for will be shown in no time... 6 years of development onli gives us faster search, better visual appeal, boosting performance by flashdrive and etc... i would expect it to be a revolutionary one, but it wasnt, so i would say, dun anticipate so much... =)

oh ya, though nth special from vista, but i prefer it over xp , of coz becos of the aero thingy... but one thing i hate... wadeva u do, vista will pop up a security window and ask for 2nd comfirmation, thats irritating... to intall one thing u need many clicks... haih...

i like the new games though.. like the Chess Titan... it sounds somehow childish and immature of me, but its really good to add in this kind of game to kill time..

as u said, performance increase? er... lets say we hold the com specs as a constant, i would say no improvement in performance, mayb even laggier[not much, jus 1 more second? hahax, coz unlike xp application which comes out almost immediately, mayb my com isnt good enuf, but overall its satisfactory] ... but u may say new OS need new hardware... =)

nevertheless, its subjective, if u can afford it and ur com can tahan it, upgrade it, if not, xp is still a very useable OS...

If u r buying new PC and buying ori OS, buy VISTA ler, why buy XP when u can ahem ahem it...hee-hee. Anyway, no point buying license for old O/S anymore.

Anyway, VISTA also got evaluation version. I'm using it right now as i type...it's perfectly legal, but will deactivate in 30 days....there's "workaround" to it but i don't think it'll last for long as MS will surely find a way to defeat it.

Frankly, i don't suggest using VISTA right now as ur main PC. There's still tons of drivers problem. I just found out it won't work with my SB Live 5.1...and there's no driver planned for VISTA from Creative (curse them!!).

I suggest u use XP now, and install the VISTA later when it's more stable with more drivers and patches and service pack available.

btw, OEM only RM400 for Home Premium. So get the ori.

One word - eWWWWWWWWW

no way , I am paying that much for a crappy OS. I have just tested the POS OS . OSX's Chess still rocks , and its a pure Rip-off of OSX. OMG , Aero hogs up ram like hell and they call that GUI. Take a look at OSX 10's GUI and the ease of use. They still can't get the right. Oh yeah , I can get the cool Aero effects by using Beryl on a X200 [it even works on a Radeon 9200].

There is nothing big deal about Vista . AFAIK , i am pretty happy running OSX on my Dell aka Hack. Seriously , OSX makes use of SSE3 and even VMX [on Core 2 Duo , Core Duo , Pentium D 9xx series]...I dont see Vista making use of that *yet*....We might never know...Oh yeah , lets wait for SP2 Vista .....Then only I'l use Vista.

it's a retortical question: http://www.yongfook.com/2006/01/06/new-sky...lls-oh-no-wait/

Anyway all of this obvious and pent-up animosity towards the Windows platform begs the question:

Who would you rather sleep with, Steve Jobs or Bill Gates - and why?

Males among us, please answer the same question.

For me, it would have to be Steve Jobs. We'd probably finish having sex then he'd be like "just one more thing" and whip out some beautiful miniature dildo with clean lines and generally flawless industrial-design sensibilities and proceed to shove it up my bum.

For those of you who have never seen a Steve Jobs keynote speech, that will simply seem to you like the nonsensical and latently homosexual ramblings of someone with the gay. I assure you, it's not. Well, not latent, anyway.
yay for british sacarsm

Yeah, my SB5.1 won't work. Minimum is SB Audigy Value...and i suspect a lot more hardware won't work either.

Why don't u just buy the evaluation version and test it out before decide to buy or not. smile.gif

In case u don't know, you can install VISTA WITHOUT the CD-Key (during install time) and it'll allow u 30 days access...more than enuff to test.

btw, IMO, the difference between ULTIMATE and Home Premium is pretty negligible. Unless you want to connect to a domain or something, Home Premium is just fine.

Other significant feature included in ULTIMATE:
(1) Bit locker - encrypt ur HDD....do u really need this?? Unless u r storing Goverment OSA like those toll agreement...why bother??
(2) Complete PC Backup - ala Acronis true Image or Norton Ghost. Probably a very basic and crummy imaging solution with limited function.(i read their backup system dun even have compression!!!). Just get a copy of Acronis 10 and you'll probably be much better off.

In otherwords, i think ULTIMATE is an absolute waste of money for the average home user with crappy software thrown in to justifiy the extra price.

LAWL! That label simply means it is capable of running Win Vista. There is no such thing as automatic upgrade. sweat.gif
