Yeah, my SB5.1 won't work. Minimum is SB Audigy Value...and i suspect a lot more hardware won't work either.

Why don't u just buy the evaluation version and test it out before decide to buy or not. smile.gif

In case u don't know, you can install VISTA WITHOUT the CD-Key (during install time) and it'll allow u 30 days access...more than enuff to test.

btw, IMO, the difference between ULTIMATE and Home Premium is pretty negligible. Unless you want to connect to a domain or something, Home Premium is just fine.

Other significant feature included in ULTIMATE:
(1) Bit locker - encrypt ur HDD....do u really need this?? Unless u r storing Goverment OSA like those toll agreement...why bother??
(2) Complete PC Backup - ala Acronis true Image or Norton Ghost. Probably a very basic and crummy imaging solution with limited function.(i read their backup system dun even have compression!!!). Just get a copy of Acronis 10 and you'll probably be much better off.

In otherwords,  i think ULTIMATE is an absolute waste of money for the average home user with crappy software thrown in to justifiy the extra price.

I've already decided to buy it.. I just need a better soundcard and I need the proper driver for it.. rclxub.gif

And also, I agree with you on Ultimate, its just not worth it, since most of us are just using home computers.. but we'll miss ultimate extras like dreamscene and so on.. sweat.gif

For all the OEM at the moment in LYP, there's only 32-bit AFAIK

For gaming/multimedia, you definitely should go for home premium. Why?

Hi All,

I know there's 32 bits and 64bits version of windows vista home premium. I'm using AMD Athlon 3000 Socket 939 processor, can I install 64bits version of the windows vista home premium? And what's the difference between 32 bits and 64 bits? The only thing I heard is 64 bits speed is better than 32 bits.. and i'm also quite worry that all the software doesn't work on the 64 bits of windows vista..

I sure hope if they are offering better price for windows vista when they lauch it in lowyat this weekend.. any one planning to go there to grap this new OS??

i face uncertainty whether my 7800GTX can suppport vista or not. If they does support vista, i will have to look at the new VGA.

From what i read, some VGA support the OS while some other do not. ANyone knows the list of the supported VGA model?

64Bit support up to 128GB++ of RAM.... not that you're using that much are you?
In theory the 64 bit is faster, but you need to use 64 bit softwares, and not all of them are 64 bit yet. you can still use 32bit software on it, but with some bugs ensured

@karom: I think these are the VGAs that are not supported

try running group policy in home premium. and try running IIS server and remote desktop.

you may not need the features of ultimate but others do.

Is MS nuts? So many versions... Why cant they just have a Home and Business version instead? Standardize pricing and spend less on differentiating their products with different feature sets etc.
