Guys, want to ask something, i tried to install nvidia vista driver on vista x86 rtm, but it cannot install. at the end of the installation, it shows no changes made to the system.

how to install this driver i download from nvidia,

lol... vista.. hav been using it for 2 weeks le... RTM version home premium edition... got it from ma fren who is a beta tester.. they can get to use RTM version earlier.. so ya, he gave me... nth special abt vista except for the visual effect... dun hav high expectation i would say... =)

hahax... no doubt the seach tools is useful and significantly fast with jus a few keystokes and whatever folder u are looking for will be shown in no time... 6 years of development onli gives us faster search, better visual appeal, boosting performance by flashdrive and etc... i would expect it to be a revolutionary one, but it wasnt, so i would say, dun anticipate so much... =)

oh ya, though nth special from vista, but i prefer it over xp , of coz becos of the aero thingy... but one thing i hate... wadeva u do, vista will pop up a security window and ask for 2nd comfirmation, thats irritating... to intall one thing u need many clicks... haih...

i like the new games though.. like the Chess Titan... it sounds somehow childish and immature of me, but its really good to add in this kind of game to kill time..

as u said, performance increase? er... lets say we hold the com specs as a constant, i would say no improvement in performance, mayb even laggier[not much, jus 1 more second? hahax, coz unlike xp application which comes out almost immediately, mayb my com isnt good enuf, but overall its satisfactory] ... but u may say new OS need new hardware... =)

nevertheless, its subjective, if u can afford it and ur com can tahan it, upgrade it, if not, xp is still a very useable OS...

based on my seaching around the net, with retail pack u can do 10x activations before u need to activate using the phone, while for OEM, u only have 3 times.

the product key is legal only if u deactivate the activation in the other machine before u activate it to another machine. Failing to do so means u r using a illegal copy of vista just like u r using the pirated one

btw, i finished install my vista last nite. got problem coz vista said it cant install the windows to my hdd.. but problem solved afterl i set the hdd controller to RAID in bios..

installed all the common programs, microsoft office 2007, adobe acrobate 8, photoshop cs2, flash 8, dreamweaver 8, 3dmax 7, maya 8, freehand mx, opera, yahoo messenger, live messenger, winrar, vlc player.. all without problems.

games like cs 1.6 (cz 1.2), pes6, warcraft III also works great..

my only problem now is i cant install NERO coz the one i have is the older one.

i also dont have new antivirus so had to dl the kaspersky 30 days trial..

Mmmm... I'm really confused on this 32 or 64 bit. I bought an acer notebook recently and qualify for the 'free' upgrade to vista. Its an Acer TravelMate 3040, Intel Core 2 Duo T5600. From the upgrade website I need to choose either 32 or 64 bit, so which one should I choose, or can I use both?

It's better to go for 32bit.
64bit wouldn't be stable until every other softwares are stadardize in 64bit.

BTW, i'm on vista ultimate 32bit. It runs fine. it's just that i can't install kaspersky antivirus. Any suggestion for alternative antivirus software?

my "ahem" version is 6.0.6000 which i think is retail and is on "unlimited" trial

and i don't think it will delete anything without asking permission first. even renaming a file need permission. stupid UAC

btw, all those crap about Vista deleting files are nonsense. All my ripped MP3 (from my originals CDs) are still there safe and sound.

What i'm really annoyed is Nvidia who has NO VISTA DRIVERS for the NFORCE 500 series platform yet!!!

So much for the VISTA Ready logo plastered all over their website!!!!

2nd Half of 2007? 

I just got my copy of Vista. Microsoft is launching Windows Vista at my campus (MMU Cyberjaya) today and tomorrow. Every staff & student is eligible for a copy of Vista Business Edition

I want to install it, but I know that I can't use SE's PC Suite if I install Vista. Is it possible to dual-boot XP & Vista if I have only 1 HDD? My roommate said that I need at least 2 HDD to dual-boot.

Not to mention that you get legal CD-Key. 
Yup, full version. I'm not sure whether it's retail or OEM version. They're not giving Vistas in Retail boxes for sure. To get the Vista, we must bring your Student ID and a piece of blank DVD. Each student will be given unique cd-key. According to the MS rep, the cd-key is valid till 2012.

The process to get the Vista is tedious. You have to queue up at any booth, complete a task (answer some questions, watch their demo, etc), and they'll give you 1 stamp. There are 7 booths, but you only need to collect 5 stamps, and then you can claim your copy of Vista.

I queued for 3 1/2 hours before I got mine. 

Must both partition be empty? Currently I have 2 partitions, 1 which I use to install XP, and the 2nd partition is where I store all my songs/movie/pictures/assignments. Can I install Vista in the 2nd partition without reformatting the partition itself?
Ah, my friend was tired of waiting and he just pass up the form and going to collect tomorrow. Any idea what the time & venue to collect the disc?
