I tried putting power saving mode on my laptop and it clocks down to 600MHz. Guess what, it's slow like XP on pentium 3.

I have got a problem here, i have just installed Vista RC2 but i don't have the product key as Microsoft has stop issuing it out, anyone knows where i can get it? and i cant seem to find the function to enable the Aero Glass effect, couldn't find it in personalize or even in control panel. Mind enlightening me, thanks.

QUOTE(NV20 @ Dec 19 2006, 02:01 PM)
ya that one i know

but what i want to ask is: what is the DIFFERENT between the Vista upgrade DVD and the Vista OEM DVD?

does it mean the Vista upgrade DVD need Windows XP installation prior to the Vista upgrade?
*
Differences

Full - Can do both clean and upgrade installation
Upgrade - Can only upgrade from previous OS
OEM - Can only do clean installation

Correct me if im wrong

Retail: Can transfer between machines
OEM: Non-transferable. Bundled with hardware.

Not sure whether they have difference in installation.

I installed RTM yesterday. And found out that they ignored the bug that I reported. My XP boot screen is still flickering. Is there any alternative to their vista boot manager/loader?

Want to ask you guys whether my PC is powerful enough to support Windows Vista with Aero & Flip3D.

My system spec:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ AM2
1 GB DDR800 RAM
GeForce 6150 Intergrated GPU (16MB shared from system's RAM, but can set up to 256MB).

I think the weakest link here is the GPU. Can I run Vista (with Aero & Flip3D) with acceptable performance (programming, web-surfing, watching movies) or should I get a discrete GPU? unsure.gif

Tried installing Vista just now, no Aero for me, it's disabled in the menu. Don't really care, but what's disappointing is that I can't use any resolution higher than 1280x1024. I'm using 19" Samsung Widescreen LCD, native resolution is 1440x900. Using lower resolution will just cause the image to be streched to fill the screen and it's just doh.gif

I've made some search, and it's seems that nVidia's Vista driver currently doesn't support that resolution. It's not because I'm using integrated GPU, I've read that 8800GTX users is also facing the same problem. doh.gif

Mine has a loading bar only too. But the issue is not with vista's boot screen but XP. I want a replacement for the section that asks the user whether to boot into XP or vista. I think that made my XP boot screen flicker.

Can I still submit a bug? tongue.gif
