Hi guys, I encounter some problem with XP when I installed vista. Everything worked fine in both but when I boot into XP, the boot screen would flicker. After booting, it will be fine again. Any solutions?

Installing vista in a laptop???

Yeah... I've been installing vista on the laptop all these while. I encounter the same flickering problem for the build 5365, 5381(I forgotten those older build numbers that I've tried). But I just remember, I always face the same problem.

Hope so. I don't wish to have flickering boot screen when the real vista is out. Maybe by time vista is officially launched, my laptop is not powerful enough. Btw, I heard that beta 2 is coming out on May 22. laugh.gif

Hello guys. I've just installed Windows Vista Beta 2. I noticed that I don't get the aero glass effect even after installing the latest graphic card driver from NVIDIA. By the way, I'm using Geforce FX5200. Besides that, the sound scheme I got is the same as Windows XP. Has anyone come across this? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks. smile.gif
*
I can only reply you regarding the sound scheme. Current vista builds have the same sound scheme as XP. laugh.gif

Should have put a note like "only for legitimate beta tester" or something similar incase any moderators accidentally refer it as warez etc. tongue.gif

Just a simple question, if I would to install an older build, can I install a newer build over the old one without deleting the user files?

I want to ask whether anyone have an idea of what's going on. Situation: My vista is running great and I have both XP and Vista at seperate partition. When dual boot options appears, and if I select previous version of windows(XP), my boot screen will flicker and welcome screen will be black. Most of the time, everything recovers after the taskbar etc is loaded. But recently, XP fails to recover from graphics distortion and it just turn irresponsive(not hang, just explorer and a few services does not work). Vista is perfect. What a waste if I cannot have both XP and vista installed. Anyone can help me? smile.gif

Are you sure this problem exists because of your Vista+XP dual boot or is it just solely your WinXP problem?
*
It is confirmed to be the dual boot. No such problem will exist without vista dual boot and the problem can be resolved by removing vista.

New update: XP's explorer.exe will sort of hang now. For me to boot in XP, I need to end explorer.exe and restart explorer.exe

i click install, the install said need install some "driver" and rebooted,
after reboot, the window cant even loaded, have to use "last know ..."
on the boot screen to get to vista.

i tried alchcol 120% same issue also.

any other software can use??? rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Daemon tools is one of the only virtual drive software for vista. They claimed that the newest version(4.0.3) is working with vista. BUT... it no longer works since a few builds before. I have personally tried, it do not work with vista RC1.

izzit work on beta2, i still running on beta2, dun want to waste a DVD disc just to RC1
*
It was many builds ago. I can't remember which I've tested on. I delete the iso of vista once a new build is released. I don't think it is worth to go back so many builds for a DVD. Maybe you should try Ashampoo Burning Studio which fariz mentioned.

What did you use to mount? Use daemon tools to mount a bootable disc. Do not use winrar.

I don't know the way you use the internet. For me, I do not find any problem with windows firewall although I am quite aggresive in entering potentially dangerous website.

I mean the firewall, does it intelligent enough and up to latest threat ?
*
Haha... if compared to other commercial firewalls, it is may be less secure. They don't intend to make it so strict that it may pose unnecessary restriction for the user to use the computer.
