Why would you want weaker CPU for the similar price ?

QUOTE(empire177 @ Mar 24 2011, 11:22 PM)

sorry, typo...i5 2410M... oops.gif

The article mentioned that the difference in the SB CPU will only have very little effect on gaming performance... and there's no need to fork out additional money to get the SB i7 unless you really need it for something other than gaming nod.gif
I guess they recommended i5-2410M because its in between i3 and i7? More balanced in terms of price and performance

well, N series is known for it's build quality, and dun forget the B&O speakers as well... it's one of the best in the market now... plus Asus laptops come with 2yrs international warranty by default...

Dell Inspiron 14R, i5-2410M + AMD HD6630@RM2349 is the best u can get at rm2.5k... though i ma not too sure abt how Dell's int'l warranty works...

safest bet would be A42Jp, i5-480M + AMD HD6570@RM2699, exceeds ur budget a little, but Asus laptops come with 2yrs international warranty by default...

my experience with HP is that they are heavy, hot, and expensive... not really my cup of tea... tongue.gif

I see...i will go through ur suggestions...

any1 else has any suggestions??need to do more comparison before deciding...

Acer Timeline and Ethos have better QC, but they're not widely available in Malaysia.

Hey everyone, here's my new, updated version of criteria for selecting a laptop:

Brand: Any reliable brand

Budget: RM4,000

Specs: At least running a Sandy Bridge processor

Size: 13.3" to 14.0" and less than 2.0kg

Purpose:

- Surf the internet
- Create documents, presentations, etc (for school/college)
- Watch 720p Blu-Ray movies

Extra Notes:

- I'm planning to bring it wherever I go.
- Back-lit keyboard is a major advantage.
- Battery life should be as long as possible, preferably more than 6 hours on a single charge (surfing the internet with Wi-Fi connection OR watch 720p Blu-Ray movies).
- I plan to get this laptop sometime in June, but I am willing to wait for a better model that's coming out soon (if applicable).

I think that's it.

Thanks for recommendations!
