Hi, I need some recommendations on laptops. Here's the details:
1. Brand: Any
2. Budget: RM5,000
3. Specs: Any
4. Size: Light
5. Purpose: Studies
Thanks!
P.S Is a Mac necessary for Pre-U studies? My friend told me that using Mac for Pre-U/University is not good because when you're needed to give a presentation, it will be harder to connect to the screen if compared to using Windows. Is this true?

Oh ok sorry. Here's something more detailed:
1. Brand: Preferably Apple, but I guess anything goes.
2. Budget: RM5,000
3. Specs: Any
4. Size: 13.0" to 16.0"
5. Purpose: Pre-University Science subject studies - probably creating documents, presentations, etc.
So it really IS much harder and more illogical to use Macs when studying. I guess I should forget about Macs then lol.

QUOTE(jusjus88 @ Mar 23 2011, 10:54 PM) Get the ASUS U-series. LIGHT, POWERFUL and at least it support VGA without some fancy adapters. Thanks for giving me some basic information. I've found two models, U36JC-RX162V and U41JF-WO134V. Why is the 14" (U41J) laptop cheaper than the 13.3" (U36JC) laptop? In your opinion, is it really necessary to spend up to RM5,000 to buy a laptop that will be primarily be used for purposes of studying?

Ok so it is overkill. No point spending RM100 to eat a Big Mac when I can get two Quarter-Pounders at much cheaper price. So what laptops should I be considering right now?

Hey everyone, here's my new, updated version of criteria for selecting a laptop:
Brand: Any reliable brand
Budget: RM4,000
Specs: At least running a Sandy Bridge processor
Size: 13.3" to 14.0" and less than 2.0kg
Purpose:
- Surf the internet - Create documents, presentations, etc (for school/college) - Watch 720p Blu-Ray movies
Extra Notes:
- I'm planning to bring it wherever I go. - Back-lit keyboard is a major advantage. - Battery life should be as long as possible, preferably more than 6 hours on a single charge (surfing the internet with Wi-Fi connection OR watch 720p Blu-Ray movies). - I plan to get this laptop sometime in June, but I am willing to wait for a better model that's coming out soon (if applicable).
I think that's it.
Thanks for recommendations!
