Hi, I'm currently looking for a laptop so that I can bring it with me to travel or just hanging out.

1. Brand: Preferably Dell or Asus or Toshiba or if you have any other brands to recommend then you can just tell me.

2. Budget: My budget is hopefully somewhere less than 2k.

3. Specs: Whats most important in my specs is Intel proc, at least 2GB ram, and 500GB HDD.

4. Size: Preferably 12-13" cause I want it to be lightweight if I were to bring it to travel.

Thanks in advance.

13 inch Toshiba Portege T230 (U5400 + Intel HD@~RM1.8k) seems to fit the description... Its light and offers decent battery life nod.gif
Or if you prefer more processing power and less battery life and higher weight, then can consider Dell Inspirons 13R...

Asus 1215b would be good as well for daily computing but it runs on AMD nod.gif

I'm looking for a notebook for college studying, it can last up to 10 hours cause i lazy to bring along charges (my bag too heavy with books) . i found asus u41jf which is portable & power saving with rm27++. pls recommend any other brand/model or pls comment opinion for owner of u41jf. tq.

1. Brand: pls recommend
2. Budget: less than rm2800
3. Specs: intel i5
4. Size: 14", good for CAD
no play pc games (facebook game maybe), just online, CAD, excel/words/powerpoint.
*
I doubt the U41Jf can hit the 10 hours battery mark haha laugh.gif
Anyway, other alternatives include Asus U36Jc (i5-480M + G310M@RM3k; 13 inch, 1.7kg), Acer 3820TG/4820TG (i5-480M + ATI 6550@RM2.2k-2.4k), Lenovo V470 (i7-2630QM + Intel HD graphics 3000@RM2699)... its either more processing power, or longer battery lives... Do take note that these laptop won't last 10 hours as well since they're 13/14 inchers...

i have a shell shocker for you dell launched new inspiron 14r
at rm 2349 online price you can get a i5 2410m+ radeon 6630m (480sps+gddr3)

now gt 540m/gt 550m they are on par or have the same caliber of radeon 5650/5730/6550/6570 gddr3

so graphic wise 6630 will beat gt 550m or will be equal to it so xps 15 have weaker gc than inspiron 14r btw 6630m is heavily downclocked @485 mhz you guys can easily oc to 600mhz~650 mhz.

also i want to some recommend about 13 inch light laptops within 2k with mid graphics like 6550 in it

only model i see is acer 3820tg with i3 380m+6550 is there any other brands? like this spec from asus/hp/dell/toshiba/msi/lenovo etc?

i really prefer a i5+6550 with a 13 inch.

Dell has good after sales services.
Might want to try Dell XPS L401X - 74452G (RRP RM3,399), will be a bit flashy tho tongue.gif
1.73GHZ Intel Core i7 Q740M
4GB DDR3 1333 MHz Memory
500GB 7200-rpm hard drive
Nvidia GeForce GT425 - 2GB

Its a powerful lappy o... Even way cheaper models can handle the load...
Personally I think you should decrease the specs and spend some money on the warranty...

Yup, there are new models from Dell:
14 inch Dell Inspiron 14R (i5-2410M+AMD HD 6630@~RM2.4k)
15 inch Dell Inspiron 15R (i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT525@RM2.7k)
and a lot of SB Latitude laptops laugh.gif
The AMD HD 6630 should be around the same level as ATI 6550? Need to wait for benchmarks...

13 inch with i5 + 6550? Acer 3820TG only as you've mentioned haha laugh.gif
Perhaps you should wait for the new Acer 3830? hmm.gif
Nothing comparable from other brands at the moment I think

Not sure which one has the longest battery life though, battery life generally would be around 3-4 hours+ if the laptop supports GPU switching...

my sis is the one want to use
because i saw the red colour edge 13/14 (not sure whistling.gif ) with i3, 2099
quite solid
so i think quite suits her

but so far thinkpad x200 still my favourite brows.gif
i always borrow my friend's x200
my friend didnt take care of it, roll all around in the car, fold it to flat during presentation(use it as a note), squeeze it into backpack full with stuffs , almost 3 years liao, still tough yo rclxms.gif

Vostros... screen is smaller.
Vostro V130 is with only internal graphics with is quite unusable for your usage...
Vostro 3300 has NVIDIA 310M which is quite okay...
I would go for Acer 4253 nod.gif Cheap 14 inch and a real graphic card integrated in the CPU and with better battery life too icon_idea.gif
