IMHO it's best to keep both cards you got because it's different bank issuer (Maybank and Citibank).  Also, you'll be able to take advantage of promotion by both bank.
Also note that the features, offers and/or benefit of MBB dua cards is not the same as Amex gold.
If you are considering MBB2 cards, just ask for it from Maybank.  They should issue you if your pay is more than 36K and have good payment records.
As to your concern on GST, some bank will waive it for you.  Just give them a call.

thanks for the clarifications.

may i know roughly what are the benefits of maybank gold credit card that are not available to maybank 2 amex card?

I didnt go over RM50 this month and stop at RM49 plus. I received 3 cents less than my calculations. Not a big deal since it is just a small amount, but AMEX is clear cut, 5% on weekend and none on weekdays.

don't total up all the transactions and then multiply by 5%
multiply each transaction individually by 5% and round DOWN to the nearest cent

1. jz check my statment got RM50 rebate ady, but i got my card only on 17.5. Isnt the RM50 should be due on my billing cycle date?

2. I read somewhere in this post that RM50 wil be given on 1 of everymonth. so does that mean this weekend m entitled to 5% fresh again til 30.6?

1. Please double confirm if your transaction date falls during Saturdays and Sundays.

2. For May 2011, the rebate was credited in on 2nd June. Therefore, last weekend (28th & 29th May) is qualified but this weekend (4th and 5th June) are not.

Good point there. I did multiplied 5% individually, but did not round down. Yes, I confirmed this methodology is accurate.
Using this month to check the rebates. Will definitely go over RM50 from now. Thanks alexwsk.

Everyone is looking forward to the payout of the cash back. I can imagine seeing happy face on everyone's face. rclxms.gif

I have changed my spending habit to the extent of postponing my purchase to weekends if possible. I also pump petrol on the weekend even though the tank is not empty. tongue.gif

that what m practising at the moment. is a significant change for me as i normally only pump when it is empty, real empty and has been my habit for almost 10 years. I did not change the habit despite repeated being told off by my parents until i got the AMex. Lol

got. the 1st month when we receive the card is also good for us. Like my case, I max RM50 for 1st month of usage, which is barely only 2 weeks. smile.gif

it seems like u dun understand my point.
even if ur 1st month is just barely a day, u wont 'lose' the rm50. u just need to arrange ur spending in the coming months
u r saying as if like by 2 yrs time this card will b terminated or something rclxub.gif so have to make full use of every month
it's all about planning your spending

Maximising RM50 every month will ensure you get the full potential of the Maybankard2 AMEX card...

RM1000 spend per month gets RM50 Cahsback : RM600 annually
RM1000 spend per month gets 5000 TP : 60000 TP annually (~ RM300)

Thus we could get ~RM900 value back annually

But aren't the Weekend 5% cashback a FEATURE of the Maybankard2 AMEX ? They could revise the T&C. Let's HOPE NOT mad.gif vmad.gif
DA's Petrol rebate was a promotional thingy, thus it has expiry date.

i think, that wil alteast last for another good 3 years as they jz lauched the card/

OCBC revision? mind to share the rumour? I think the revision wil be a better one as their latest promo-the cash back promo, is even better.

imagining if you spend RM2k monthly on weekends. You are however only entited to RM50.month, losing RM50.
However, if you get yr card earlier, say 2nd week of May, u can faster use yr card thereby, 2 months, can get RM100, extra RM50. that's where m coming from.

My OCBC cycle is 17 everymonth, so the MBB's policy is good that i can take turn in getting the max cash rebate when one's quota is full.

the cash back is THE reason y everyone is rushing to get these cards. You take away tat = you take away the customers.
