well, yes barca dominated the 1st half, it would have made the difference if 11 vs 11...remember the 1st leg, barca dominated 1st half, then 2nd half arsenal come back into game and score 2 wonder goals...i strongly believe we can challenge if no red card was given simply because barca is playing pressing game in 1st half, that would take alot of stamina. they would drain out towards the 2nd half...we would even score a goal...

Defeated and journey ended in UCL doesn't mean it's gonna be end of the world

Every team will have their bad days (questionable decision, bad performance from players, etc - you name it)

So,I would suggest all you gunners by all means accept the defeat and concentrate on winning the BPL and FA Cup (I'm meant no harm on mentioning the defeat)

Lets be honest. Arsenal is an EPL team that I like & a delight to watch especially for their superior offensive & passing game in the EPL.

On the other hand, Barca is a vastly superior team, another level, a quantum step above the the gunners and most English teams. Give credit where credit is due.

Don't blame being shorthanded. Not even a shot or goal attempt in the match! Even with full strength. I will even venture Arsenal would not beat Barca even playing with 12 players.

Note: I wouldn't go so far as quoting the team captain '15 man tale'

http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2010...uld-have-beaten

The gunners looked like they were short on pace and energy levels today. I'm puzzled.

Respect & Accept the Defeat. Thats the mark of being a Sportsman.

What personal attacks? Then did i call u any bollock? Yeah, they are great so? Does that means I have to mention their names every now and then and trying to win argument by that? And u switch to argument about dribbling and Im pretty sure that's a very basic fundamental for every footballer. Im bashing the way he's not creative enough during that 2/3 yards just abit more to enter penalty box (even if it's not dive or spanish theatre, there is a threat there), and then u started to talk history lesson...What the hell was that? And then, calling ppl bollock or fools...
*
Well for what it's worth, I'd extend my apologies for saying u spoke bollocks. I cant really call somebody a bollock as u say it tongue.gif . As for calling u a fool, please page Prelude23. I never call u that. I didn't bring out any names to win arguments. I'm just saying great defenders make their name by well, defending great. Any thing else is a plus.

And for your points, I understand what you are saying. I do. But it takes more than words to say simply Sagna could have dribbled all the way to the box. If your complaint is that his crosses to strikers who are double marked doesn't work, what is he driving into the box for? This discussion from u stems from the past thread where why can't Sagna be like Dani Alves. Well, there's only 1 Dani Alves. The animosity stemmed from your earlier statements that all defenders had to be good at dribbling to be able to leave the academy. Sure Sagna maybe a class dribbler, but you can't deny another defender's ability to fend it off? Surely it can happen. It's all hypothetical, from your point of him playing a little spanish theatre/diving and scoring us many penalties. It's not even a respectable act in the first place. It's easy to say he could have provided a threat for us, but when we look at the stats, the point is we had 0 attempts. There's a whole list of player with more flair than him (Cesc, Nasri, RVP, Rosicky, Wilshere) that should have done something to change that statistic, not a defender.

Prelude23 made a very good point when he asked u to name other wingbacks who were really good like Alves in offense. I dind't see your reply to it, but let's be honest, players of that quality are few and far between.

Please keep it a healthy discussion. I'm the 2nd person who has been told to shut up by you simply because you can't participate in a decent healthy discussion and fancy making assumptions that neither we know football or simply are flamed by stating our facts as a sign of arrogance towards u.

Like I said, you and I are both supporters of the same club. I don't need the thread to turn into a shitstorm because a few of us retorts your claims.

Come on you gunners!

The only way we were gonna beat Barca was if we played like we did in the 2nd half of the 1st leg. We didn't play like that this morning, so....

Someone mentioned in the prev. thread that in the 1st half we kept a high defensive line... I must've been sleeping in the 1st half. Becoz what I saw was Barca put so much pressure on Arsenal that we couldn't get out of our own half. We were made to chase the game, just like we would have done against other teams in the BPL. Whenever we get the ball we would dribble to dunno where then lose the ball cheaply & then put ourselves under pressure again. There wasn't a moment when we were in control of the ball for even 5-10 mins...

That was why we lost.

I think to the Barca fans, we are not refuting anything if you are reading this. We were outplayed simple as that. The only dissatisfaction we had was our own play and ref's dubious call on certain occasions.

I think everyone can take a chill pill and any potential trolling less seriously.

And we can actually hold our heads high. For all its worth, it was a fantastic display in the first leg and the 2nd leg, well, lets just say Barca put on a fantastic demonstration. Possesion football that also brings results.

b4 11 vs 11. Not that i said Barca didn't deserved their victory but playing with 10-men for nearly the entire 2nd half against
the mighty Barca at the ruptures Nou Camp and losing 3-1...its quite an OK result.

and hey..don't forget...when Arsenal get drawn with Barca, everyone keep saying dat we gonna get beaten 3-0 at home & away

and last but not least...i respect our opponent & accept our defeat wholeheartedly..but pls don't spew dat '12-men Arsenal can't beat Barca' crap ok?

leyton orient (fa cup); arsenal WIN
arsenal is at home and the gulf of class between them two is too huge, wenger sure will field all big guns; he doesnt want to fail twice.

sunderland; DRAW
sunderland will be sensing blood againts a morally dejected arsenal team. arsenal will be thinking about barcelona game. sunderland might even edge it.

barcelona; arsenal LOSE
they have lionel facking messi for god's sake

manu (FA cup); arsenal LOSE
manu at home and arsenal moral low after lose to barcelona and tired.
my predictions is 100% correct so far.

pity arsenal, they did what they could, but in the end, its lionel messi again.

+1 to Bro taingonghai

To my opinion,it's not really bad game played by Gunners just that a wrong tactic was planned and didn't workout, that's all (maybe some of.

As for the red card,it did effect the game but not really a serious/main issue for the Gunners

As for the referee's bad decisions,I believe most of us would agree both of the teams were effected by this, right?

I already made my observation and it has always been a healthy discussion all this time. And I don't believe players of Alves quality is rare, is just that other defenders couldn't afford to risk it/open their minds on other options available.

did that guy just open a new account to post in the arsenal thread?

not to add fuel but look at this alarming note
"Arsenal made 2 touches in the opposition goal area, compared to a total of 47 by Barcelona"
