One thing is I never flame grilled Clichy. 2nd is Lee Dixon & Lauren Bisan time, we prolly don't have any Astro yet and you trying to conclude that "they're good defenders which don't do fancy stuff"...Thirdly, Sagna of course has been brilliant but is the same old predictable moves 2/3 yards from penalty box and pass the ball to a 2-man tightly marked striker. When he did that, you prolly would have notice the passenger right winger already cover for him at the back. At least, if he bring the ball abit forward inside the penalty box, there's a threat there...If he did passing like that, our midfield would have been empty by then and switch to defense. That's my observation on our failure in attacks.

please don't talk bollocks. We don't have astro yet? I've had astro since 1996 watching the Atlanta Olympics. And Lauren time no Astro? WHere have u been hiding? Under a rock? I don't conclude anything I didn't watch mind you.

And yes Rosicky may have been behind him. But did you see him intercept any play from the mid? Or put in any decent defensive effort? Come on man. It's been one game. And out of a sudden Sagna's predictable. Give it a rest. Sagna's best improvement this season has been on his crossing. U can't expect one player especially a right back to have changed the situation this morning. We were chasing the game from the first whistle and the defender was the problem u indentified as an ATTACKING problem. geez

The game's done and dusted, so have I with this discussion. Few of us including Barca fans having been trying to make a point to u from the previous thread till now. They've given up. Now's my turn. U win. Sagna's rubbish and predictable. And from ur comments the last thread, he should now play smart like the spaniards, take people one on one and do a little "diving" to win us many penalties.

Ok I get it.

On a bad note, it seems our rising gk sczesny is out for the season claiming a ruptured tendon on his fingers. Kudos to almunia for successively blocking barca's countless shots.  I think there were three shots on goals that almunia fended off quite bravely. Had it been in, we'd seen the same fate barca did to malaga.

So I suppose almunia is back in radar for our team eh? Yes, he is no world class gk, but I do missed this guy. I hope he still have something left to contribute for Gunners this season. Its probably going to be his last, so I heard.

He definitely had a monstrous game tonight.Fantastic goalkeeping. Hope he just can have a little consistency especially against United this weekend. We're going to be playing him the rest of the season from the prognosis so far on Woj

Wow, great now name-calling people like you have been following Arsenal since your childbirth or something...How do I care if you got Astro or some Satellite dish all the way from England for you. Even if you got watch, doesn't mean that the Lee or Bisan guy have to be on your non-fancy standard. This 2011 not 1996.

If u get it, that Sagna is predictable and doesn't win us anything, just shut up and stop calling people names.
*
When did i call u names? Great, a retort with personal attacks. I've supported Arsenal since 1994 when I was in the UK and came back. I didn't say i supported them from childbirth as u assumed did I? Simply because I've supported the team before you, I'm guilty as well. Nice way of calling our great players like Lauren and Lee dixon as simply guys who didn't mean sh1t. Come on man, take a chill pill. We're the same club's supporters and your best retort is this. All me, Prelude23 and the rest of the guys are saying is stop bashing players without a valid reason and instead supporting a defender to neglect his duties and worse still, encourage diving.

Your argument simply doesn't hold water that all defenders need to be graduates of the art of dribbling before leaving the academy. Comprende?

End of the day, both you and me support the same club? No?

Sorry I'd have to disagree here. Sagna was perhaps one of our better performers this morning and has been excellent defensively so far this season. Being a good crossing fullback is always a plus but bear in mind Sagna is a defender and his priority should remain at defending well. That is what he is paid to do. If he can attack and cross well then that is a bonus.
*
Thank you. That's the point me and few guys who's given up trying to explain are simply trying to make.

im sorry to say but the referee didnt kill the game dude.
watch the match and see how many times arsenal ventured into our half
or made a string of more than 3 passes.

i really dont understand how arsenal's defence got a bad name when i never see them making silly mistakes against us? except the almunia part when he kicked against anotehr player
*
We were outplayed, no question about that. The sending off was dubious that's all.

As for our defence, we've had f*ckups in the past, especially with the GK department and the latest incident was the Carling Cup final against Birmingham.

All in all, it was a masterclass football demonstration from Barca and well played to you guys.

What personal attacks? Then did i call u any bollock? Yeah, they are great so? Does that means I have to mention their names every now and then and trying to win argument by that? And u switch to argument about dribbling and Im pretty sure that's a very basic fundamental for every footballer. Im bashing the way he's not creative enough during that 2/3 yards just abit more to enter penalty box (even if it's not dive or spanish theatre, there is a threat there), and then u started to talk history lesson...What the hell was that? And then, calling ppl bollock or fools...
*
Well for what it's worth, I'd extend my apologies for saying u spoke bollocks. I cant really call somebody a bollock as u say it tongue.gif . As for calling u a fool, please page Prelude23. I never call u that. I didn't bring out any names to win arguments. I'm just saying great defenders make their name by well, defending great. Any thing else is a plus.

And for your points, I understand what you are saying. I do. But it takes more than words to say simply Sagna could have dribbled all the way to the box. If your complaint is that his crosses to strikers who are double marked doesn't work, what is he driving into the box for? This discussion from u stems from the past thread where why can't Sagna be like Dani Alves. Well, there's only 1 Dani Alves. The animosity stemmed from your earlier statements that all defenders had to be good at dribbling to be able to leave the academy. Sure Sagna maybe a class dribbler, but you can't deny another defender's ability to fend it off? Surely it can happen. It's all hypothetical, from your point of him playing a little spanish theatre/diving and scoring us many penalties. It's not even a respectable act in the first place. It's easy to say he could have provided a threat for us, but when we look at the stats, the point is we had 0 attempts. There's a whole list of player with more flair than him (Cesc, Nasri, RVP, Rosicky, Wilshere) that should have done something to change that statistic, not a defender.

Prelude23 made a very good point when he asked u to name other wingbacks who were really good like Alves in offense. I dind't see your reply to it, but let's be honest, players of that quality are few and far between.

Please keep it a healthy discussion. I'm the 2nd person who has been told to shut up by you simply because you can't participate in a decent healthy discussion and fancy making assumptions that neither we know football or simply are flamed by stating our facts as a sign of arrogance towards u.

Like I said, you and I are both supporters of the same club. I don't need the thread to turn into a shitstorm because a few of us retorts your claims.

Come on you gunners!

I think to the Barca fans, we are not refuting anything if you are reading this. We were outplayed simple as that. The only dissatisfaction we had was our own play and ref's dubious call on certain occasions.

I think everyone can take a chill pill and any potential trolling less seriously.

And we can actually hold our heads high. For all its worth, it was a fantastic display in the first leg and the 2nd leg, well, lets just say Barca put on a fantastic demonstration. Possesion football that also brings results.

Whether, we win anything at the end of the season, it's just bad omens all around. Cesc might still be heading back to Barca, and with Nasri's contract extension still unresolved, things don't look good.

Good players might be leaving thanks to another fine season turned into well, shit.

Keeping the faith in Diaby, Denilson for all these years and believing we had squad depth is definitely Wenger's short sightedness.

Anyway guys, time to check out. Gf's hungry and I can save myself this eyesore.
