But u said u only have 1 year experience. Year u are born is totally different because u can born 1970 but only have 1 year experience or someone can born 2001 but have 10 years experience smile.gif

How can a 10 year old boy has 10 years experience? smile.gif

RM 2.2k is probably too little but again I'm not sure how's the market back in Penang, how big is your company and nature of business for your company. smile.gif

My new basic is around 4k. smile.gif

walao!! HR earn so high 1.. i think is my thinking is correct la last time. HR ppl need higher pay cos they know everyone salary then can compare. If get little salary maybe will jealous if compare others
*
No, you are wrong. We do our work professionally, we don't overpay or underpay anyone.
We conduct market research and pay as what the person deserves for.
For what want to jealous at others? They earn more than us.
Additionally, I'm working in a big scale MNC. MNC doesn't work like normal local company. smile.gif
For those working in MNC will clearly understand how good the benefits are. smile.gif

I agree Linkedin is a good start for fresh grads to build up their profiles. smile.gif

I do agree 4k+ at the age of 25 is seriously nothing amazing. If the engineers in my company can earn at least 6k or more (if they travel to overseas) at the age of 25, I find mine rather puny.

I don't complain as the nature of our works is so different. Since I have chosen this field, I'll work hard to progress further.

I'm now working towards the HR consultancy area and that's the new trend of HR. We don't focus on those payroll and other petty stuffs anymore, as these are heavily outsourced to third party. We are working towards the goal to be HR business partner.

I believe in every field, there are still many rooms for improvement. The problem is, will you move on and accept the challenge?

I'm sorry but that has gotta be the funniest statement I've seen here.  Kinda shallow impression you have on HR... sleep.gif" HR is a very Important function which does more than hiring and payroll...such as Talent management, employee engagement, etc
*
laugh.gif I'm surprised that there are still people who judge HR in such manners. tongue.gif
Most of the big companies have already outsourced their payroll system and their HR has no time to check on dress code and attendance.
Talent management is so important these days, without that employees will not grow and stay longer with the company. biggrin.gif

I've work with one ONG operators during my early days, and the HR manager thought our salary is way too high, which is obviously is not true since most of us come from different operators and we know what our industry paid us normally.
So yeah, some HR didnt do their homework (obviously am not pointing at you  smile.gif  ).
*
Too bad for your case. I'm not in O&G. smile.gif

QUOTE(this.ia.a.ball @ Nov 23 2011, 08:35 AM)
That happens when they start comparing salary. SO back to my assumption, HR people have to get enough salary so they dont feel jealous. Its human nature afterall and HR should know better.

Just curious, who prepare the salary for HR people? Will be weird if they prepare their own salary right lol
*
Since this is my first employment and I have been attaching to MNC, let me enlighten you with MNC's working environment.
Every business unit has their own allocated salary budget, HR will base on the budget and propose a salary proposal to the line managers. After everyone is agreeable only we will communicate to the candidate. Sometimes, the candidate will negotiate, we will then relook into the proposal again see if it is on high end. If it is, we will not proceed further.

Get the point now? What for we want to feel jealous? Do you know almost everyone in the organisation earns more than me? I'm one of those with the lowest salary? Do I need to envy or commit suicide because of this? No, I understand the difference in my job nature and years of experience. Nothing to argue and everyone has a price tag.

Who prepares salary for HR people? Does that even matter? HR is also a business unit and has an allocated salary budget, so our colleagues will pay as what we deserve for. If we think it is too low, we can choose not to accept at the first place.

I hope the above enlightens you a bit. To be honest, your assumption above shows that your exposure in working life is still shallow or/and your HR really acts in such a manner.

i like your outlook and intake on things, i agree with what you say and also your insights.. we should not always compare around.. be greatful and also content with what you have.. who knows, there are other better things planned for all of us.. salary isn't everything.. salary reflects on time spent on the job, stress, risk, responsibility and skill.. i wish good luck to all of you out there.. =)
*
Yes, during my last salary revision review, my boss proposed a figure to me which I'm quite satisfied.
She turned around and asked me this question, "Now your salary has moved on to a new figure, how do you think you can cope with your heavier responsibilities and expectations? You see, with this revision; we expect more from you."

Sometimes I really hope no revision at all. laugh.gif

dont think you're underpaid. For sales job usually they dont give high basic but rather higher commision. So your take home salary will be quite high. 3k+ comission and drugs sell in high quantity especially those essential druugs

cool
*
Er, I don't think he is in Sales line. smile.gif
For 29 years old and still earns 3k, I think that is considered really low. Consider inflation and things are so expensive these days. You have to move on and improve your skill set to progress to another corporate ladder. Else, your career development will not be that significant and directly contributes to your little increment and promotion.

Though in many scenarios, I must emphasise that salary and benefits are not the main key factors to determine one's direction. Most of the time, one should look the prospects of the new role, how it can help you to progress further.

However in this situation, chunfai82 is already suffering with low pay (against his age and inflation rate in Malaysia), this definitely worth a try for better job prospects and higher salary.

Seriously, RM 2k is just way too low to start off with these days, even with just a Degree for most of the fresh grads out there. What's worse when you have more than that?

Bargain and look out for the best (or better). Sometimes we need to have expectations, else we can't fare further.

That's my humble advice. wink.gif

Sounds like from O&G industry. brows.gif
Well, is 2.4k considered a normal pay in Miri? Probably geographical difference that causes Miri has lower pay?

Well, who says O&G's start pay >3k?

I said "sounds like". Probably you missed out that part eh? smile.gif It is not even a conclusion.
Previously there was a forummer here who was earning 2.5k in O&G industry, and with few years of experience.
So, in short again; O&G doesn't really guarantee good pay sometimes.

If they ask for justification, then you need to state out. Else, you don't bother telling them the reason.
But most of the cases, yes they will ask. tongue.gif
