Problem Manager is an Individual Contributor role and not a People Manager role in HP smile.gif So both of your assumptions are incorrect.
*
Then too bad, I was just assuming based on PFZ's reply.
If it is just an individual contributor role, then it is a good start for a higher pay. smile.gif

Can some one enlighten me on the average salary/allowance for chambering students in law firms around KL/PJ/Shah Alam?  icon_question.gif

My ex-roommate just finished hers in October for RM 2k I think, or somewhere RM 1.8k. Can't really recall. Hers will be in KL and now she is working for them after chambering. Current pay is RM 3k.

*
Well, it depends how do you define "comfortable". smile.gif
It depends which type of house, car you are looking at.
Kids education, which level?

QUOTE(this.ia.a.ball @ Dec 8 2011, 09:34 AM)
Tolive in KL minimum salary need be at least 2k if got family

Even for singles, 2k is not doing much justice in KL. Things are so expensive here.

There is any different salary between permanent and contract for the same job position?

Usually contract has higher pay to compensate the loss of benefits and job security. smile.gif

I'm on contract by the way but my boss gives me all the benefits a permanent should have and retains the pay of a contract staff. biggrin.gif

Er, at 28 years old earning 3k is difficult these days. Probably can survive but not much of saving. smile.gif

That's the reality because everything is so expensive these days.

Yet again, not sure about your job's salary range. That may be common for your industry. hmm.gif

Anyway, I just received a revised salary adjustment yesterday. Effective 01.01.2012. New title as well. laugh.gif

First and foremost, if you notice up there. I did mention my tenure is - contract. As a contractor, my salary has to be higher because I lose out a lot of things compared to permanent. Permanent only gets about 4% adjustment on yearly basis but their basic is already high enough. Not forgetting other fixed allowances which are higher than mine.

The most important thing is their job security. I might lose my employment anytime.

Still I believe that everyone is "disposable" these days.

I hope this clears most of your doubts. smile.gif

laugh.gif Too bad then. smile.gif
Probably you don't understand the difference between a permanent and contract staff.
Some contract staffs are paid USD 250 on daily basis or even more. smile.gif
Probably you will need to expose more to different employment types. smile.gif

Many people don't accept contract basis employment due to job security. Your employment can be stopped anytime and you can just lose your job with a short notice. This is not acceptable for many married employees. I'm still single, so I dare to take up the risk.

My contract is only until next year's June, but subject to renewal should such need arise. However, my employment will be terminated anytime even though before June 2012.

Now, does this make any sense? smile.gif

Anyway, contract employment is very common these days.

I thought it will only happen when jumped from 1 comp to another comp within 1 year, or been promoted to higher level, somemore can know 2012 got another 700 increment, just doubt only no harm,  biggrin.gif
*
It is 600, not 700. smile.gif
And why can't I get to know now? My contract for this year is ending 31st Dec.
If this is not made known to me now, then when? I'll be signing my new contract next week because I'll be going on leave until early next year. doh.gif
FYI, the initial proposal was lower than that, but I spoke to my boss and she understood and got me a higher increment.
I'll be handling so many things in next year and I can't easily go on leave anymore. Even though I have plenty of leave to clear next year.
Imagine I can only take leave from 23rd-30th every month. That's the allowed duration.

MNC comp? U working in Cyberjaya? If not mistaken you're on 1 year Fixed term contract, your employment wont be stopped until 1 year full service unless you made huge mistake.
*
MNC. Not in Cyberjaya.
Our company just implemented 6 months for one renewal, no longer on 1 year basis. smile.gif
No, not only on mistake. When there is redundancy and company is not doing good, I have to go as well.
So, there is no job security actually.

OIC.. your co.. paying in USD.. so RM600 increment = USD 190
USD250/day for contract staff
1 month work for 22days @ USD250 = USD5500.00
so contract staff 1 month salary = RM 17,500.00
wah liao... a whooping RM17k salary for contract staff drool.gif
better pay than high rank staff like General manager, CEO, COO... etc..

Not my company, for those skilled consultants, we will absorb them into permanent. smile.gif
Do you feel surprised with the figure? I laugh.gif

QUOTE(justin_nys @ Dec 15 2011, 05:26 PM)
What's with the eye roll and surprise?  You are just embarrassing yourself smile.gif This is indeed normal for a highly skilled consultant working on contracts..  especially  in Europe and US.
Unfortunately it's not the same in Malaysia,  most contractors are not paid this way and have very limited benefits compared to permanent staff... Sad but true

QUOTE(kelvin_tan @ Dec 15 2011, 05:59 PM)

USD250 per day is considered low for skilled consultants. There are skilled consultants in Malaysia earning RM1k - 2k per day.

The 2k isnt thattttt common though but there is and its not like 1 or 2 persons only.
*
Haha. That's why I got bombarded for some guys who can't believe on my increment. laugh.gif

QUOTE(Chongkor @ Dec 15 2011, 05:56 PM)
Normally 6 months contract can get very high due to low security and unlike permanent staff got Performance bonus.
You can get better than that actually once you go in and not on renewal basis.
*
Now you understand on my job security right? So, don't mention about me blowing cow or anything lo. That's how the world works now.

I basically stunned because I'm earning more than him and I'm just a plain administrator. laugh.gif
My boss always tells me that job title is not important. She can even grant me a fancy title but doing work which doesn't match the title and salary. tongue.gif
I used to love seeing fancy job title but after 2 years of working, I guess title is a just title. I believe my sister's friend's husband is just a normal sales executive. sweat.gif

No, different field requires different needs. Like my company, we don't favour job hopper. What's the point of hiring someone when you know you can keep him/her for only one year? Waste resources.

Some industries are alright with job hopper but not all.

So, it is not all about old fashioned culture or anything. It is about the requirement from the company.

I'm a HR practitioner from a MNC, we are not a conservative company but when it comes to recruitment, job hoppers are not the one we are looking for. There are candidates who successfully made into our company though they change company very often of course with very valid reasons (i.e. restructuring, previous company ramped down and etc.).

Sometimes it highly depends on luck too. Same qualifications but earning the very huge differences in the same field...
*
Luck yes, but I would say with minimal role.
Join a good company, leverage your strengths, you can move up faster than the others. Maximize your potential and gain as much as you can when you are still young.
Be passionate in your job, with passion things move faster. smile.gif

My university friends, same field, same Degree and one of them with a better result than mine; yet I'm earning more than them, about 1.5x or more depending on locations.
I'm lucky because I was accepted to join a good company and with wonderful working environment.
This triggers my passion and I always strive to learn as much as I can. My ex-bosses can see my effort and fought the best remuneration package for me every year.
I'm still in the same company but I was being recommended to another superior and have taken up a new role beginning of this year and reporting to a new manager. Tougher life but I know this is the best arrangement for me.

To be Frank, the groceries, expenses, foods and biills have occupied the biggest cash flow in & out in our saving account. The problem is our food in Malaysia is very expensive. If we dont compare the currency conversion in our country I found out we still need to pay double for a meal. What i meant the portion they serve is getting smaller and we need to order extra sometimes no?
*
True. I fully agreed.
Though I'm earning above average for the people at my age and doing the same field as mine.
Still, I see my saving is not much. I spend more than I save. Sadly. sad.gif
I don't even have commitment like property or vehicle yet. I have a free car from my sister.
Yet, I don't think I can afford any property for this coming 5 years.
I'm earning puny 4.1k at 25 years, I'm a HR practitioner. Only have 2 years working experience.

RM4100 @ 25 years old no bad oledi compare to mine...

i owned a DSL house luckily when 2008-2009 before the bubble...
bought the house @ RM300k, but selling price RM600k+...  sweat.gif

but my wife share her name along to own DSL, otherwise no other method with my salary RM2k+
buy now or buy later also the same, salary increased - property increased = no differences...

perhaps u can request ur bf to share his name to own a property before bubble again...
but only problem is you having the contract basis job and have the risk to loss job any time and no able to pay for the house instalment...
*
Yeah, I do understand and my family has been bugging me to own a property soon.
Still, as a contractor, it is difficult to get bank loan. That's the reality. sad.gif
Well, let me be a permanent staff one day, then I think I'll be eligible.

Sadly, I don't have a BF to share the pain with me. I'm a workaholic, in a way... sad.gif
