I hold two jobs. Most in my line (government service dentist) also hold a second weekend/night job.

My Current age: 25
Job Title : Dental Officer U41 (second year in service)
Job Desciption : Manage outpatient dental treatment, carrying out oral health campaigns and for those unlucky ones they become boss of the clinic thus needing to do paperwork on top of clinical work.

Years spent in company : 1 Yr 7 months
Company : Ministry of Health, Oral Division
Industry : Dentistry
Tenure : 3 years compulsory gov service
Employment Level : erm...U41. Still the lowest grade for every fresh dentist in the government.
Experience before joining : Fresh from uni!

salary : RM3.8k (it used to be about RM3439.55 back in 2010/11.. but new salary scheme made things a lil better. smile.gif) + On call allowance (depending on area). Can be RM600 three times a year if you are in the city with more officers or RM2k every month as you on-call all year round in more rural areas.
benefit : medical, dental, on-call allowance, epf.
Other benefits are that that you learn alot as there are proper programs to train the fresh grads and way too many cases to learn from. smile.gif

As for my part time job:

Job Title : Associate Dental Surgeon
Job Desciption : Providing general dental treatments
Years spent in company : 6 months
Company : Dental Group
Industry : Dentistry
Tenure : Part-time
Experience before joining : 1 years + with government side

salary : Based on 40% commission - RM6k-RM9k a month. ( i work few nights a week and all weekends)
benefit : none. no epf, no socso. Supposed to handle ourselves as it is not a fixed pay. I was a bit confused at first but turns out most dental clinics do the same for their associates.

Your package seems pretty decent to me considering you have neither degree nor diploma. In fact, a lot of degree holders probably get similar amount of salary with that much experience. Have you tried applying for other jobs and find out what you can get?
*
I haven't tried to apply other places because like I said, I don't have any higher education qualifications. But there are markets whereby the company doesn't look at those, and rely on experience, I'm just wondering if I'd just be jumping out of the hot pot into the fire?

The bonus in manufacturing arm is less than plantation arm, the plantation HQ in Ipoh get averagely 6-8 months of bonus whereas manufacturing arm only 4-6 months.

That's why you should apply for other jobs and see if you can get anything at all. That way you know if you are in demand.

it's normal that upstream get more rewards than downstream.

how about trading arm? I'm with trading arm. awaiting my reward movement after raya soon.

last year, due to good CPO prices, upstream got much higher reward comparing to trading arm.

why you think so? im not yet mentions my post in trading arm of a plantation company. sweat.gif

FYI, my company year end just past, everyone got their letters.

it's salary adjustment and annual increment for most of staffs ranging from 8% to 18% depending on which salary level of individual at.

1 same level of staffs can get different % of increment, as 1 might be getting top scale of pay, while another1 get lower scale of pay.

My co oversea market mainly India, Parkistan and China. There's also some sale to other countries but not significant.

Current job related to system support and maintenance. Working experience nearly 1 year but I don't find any future career prospect for current job. I heard SAP is the highest paid among IT job. Is that true?

Yup. A friend who owns a recruitment agency says the demand is higher than supply, and SAP engineers are highly paid.

Hey guys,

I'm about to graduate soon and I'm trying to decide whether to stay here and work or return to malaysia. I know this sounds materialistic but naturally the salary that I'm going to get matters. smile.gif I intend to return to Malaysia someday no matter what and I'm wondering if having worked overseas would make employers attempt to match your previous salary (after exchange conversion) if they are interested in you?

Where are you studying now? Based on your description, it should be countries with stronger currencies eg Oz, UK? IMHO, I think is a good idea for you to work overseas a few years to gain some experience, provided that you can get a job there which is quite a daunting task for foreign graduates. If you are happy with the life there, you can always opt to settle down there permanently.

However, if you decide to return to Msia after a few years, whether Msia employers will offer you a package which equals your overseas salary after conversion, I think it will be a 'good to have' thing. It is possible but difficult unless your skillset/experience is so valuable that no one in Msia has it.

Match your previous salary after conversion? Well, it's possible but very unlikely. Most likely all you get is a good offer compared to other locals.
