Therefore if I'm looking for some affordable FX portrait lens for now on my D7000, the best option would be 35mm f/2D as it'll be 52.5mm on DX?
*
Between 50 to 135mm focal length(35mm FX sensor format) lenses are called portrait lens, but only 50mm is called standard lens because it has the most similar focal length and also cover similar perspective as our human eyes.

Any focal length lens if fine, depends on your own taste. Regarding 35mm f/2D, yes it's a sharp lens on DX even at f/2. Mount it on DX camera and you get about 50mm. Good buy tongue.gif

Finally, I bought my D7K Kit on Sat and I'm officially a Nikonian now biggrin.gif

Next item, I need to get myself a bag by this week and my max budget RM400 >. Preferring a sling one that can easily shove in and shove out the camera. Any recommendation please? smile.gif

I got nothing now except the kit lens. Will be looking forward to use the bag with an additional lens and flash unit in the future smile.gif

Initially I opted to pack for this lens with D7000 body. However, I'll be missing out the wide coverage as I'll need it, therefore I make a go with the kit lens and slowly save up for the next gear.

I tried the 50mm f/1.8D which lowest I managed to get offered is RM380 + Free UV filter. However, I'm trying to fit myself to collect only FX lens on the run as my long term target would be moving to FF. But of course, I can still sell later if I'm getting DX lens smile.gif

Of course you can consider a good condition used DX lens like 17-55 as well. Enjoys the benefit from it's good optic and fast AF plus won't lose much when you sell it away again when you wanna upgrade to FX. tongue.gif

manual and more reliable way.
focus with ur center, then move ur frame to recompose. smile.gif

unless ur camera are already well composed on a tripod, u can use the multi direction selector to move the focus point if it's not locked.

That means I focus first (pressing the shutter half way down) and then move the camera until the subject focused earlier is at the side before snapping?

I haven't buy it, it was the sales person offered me at the time I purchase my D7000 kit laugh.gif

Yeah, I played around with my kit and it seems I more comfortable shooting at 50mm than 35mm. Hmm... should I just pick it and play around instead of funding 35mm f/2D?

About RM3.5k for a used one now if not mistaken. I bought a used 1 on 2009 for RM3.8k and sell it away after 1 year for RM3.8k again, no $$ lose tongue.gif

Set the AF Mode to Single, then set your desire focus point (left/right/top/bottom) by using the arrow buttons. smile.gif
