I'm also a student and applied PTPTN loan, sadly to say, no balance of loan for me to spend, in fact, my dad gotta top up my course fee each semester. Each top up amount can buy new D90 with kit. sweat.gif

Buying DSLR gears are from my own pocket/savings, pain in ass cry.gif How I wish my dad can support me to buy more gears blush.gif

Anyway edwardgsk, you remember my another friend tag along with us to BTS? You'll be seeing him at Canon booth on Saturday and Sunday @ MidValley (if I'm not mistaken) laugh.gif

QUOTE(loverjinx @ Mar 4 2011, 05:03 PM)
hi guys, since there are so many students here...
wanna ask this multiple choice question ..

you have a dslr that is fast approaching it's expected shutter life
ie. d300 & d700 - 150,000 exposures , d3 - 300,000 exposures.

what do you do ?

a) use until the shutter fails and then get a new shutter
b) send the camera for servicing
c) sell off the dslr at a very cheap price ( informing the buyer/shop of the SC of cos )
d ) don't use the camera anymore
e ) none of the above !
*
Wow, I will pick (e). I will let it go when it exceeds half life or perhaps 70% of its life biggrin.gif

may i know whether the D90 battery grip got wireless remote control?.. i heard someone said that after i bought D0 battery grip then no nid to buy another wireless remote ard.. it is truth? tq.. smile.gif
*
Har? D90 BG got wireless RC? Never heard of it before. Every thing is transmitted via its pins. Thus, no cable and no RC is required.

i see.. means i need to buy an extra wilress RC >.<
*
Why do you need wireless RC? The BG doesn't require RC to work, you can simply use the vertical shutter button anytime. Don't get me wrongly. Or do you mean you need a wireless RC to play wireless shutter? nod.gif

QUOTE(edwardgsk @ Mar 4 2011, 05:16 PM)
I mean my right side, opposite you. Or isit the one with the Honda motorbike ah? laugh.gif
*
Har? Not opposite you meh? haha. Anyway, not me and not Nic, left one out. So yea, the skinny with spec 1 biggrin.gif

QUOTE(loverjinx @ Mar 4 2011, 05:23 PM)
haha ezrasang, let it go and then just buy back the same camera model or wait for the shutter to fail then just fix the shutter ? i think in monetary terms it's cheaper to just fix the shutter right ?
*
Well, I depends on situation actually. If there's newer model, then upgrade. If I love it (FX body) so much, then I will just replace the shutter. It will costs RM4xx (depends on camera model though).

i know we all love to take pictures, so of cos shutter lifespan will shoot up very fast lo ! just curious, anyone here has repaired the shutter before ? how is the performance before and after repair ?
you are right, if got newer model then upgrade !
RM1k to replace shutter, must be quoted from Nikon right ? im sure they will provide 1 year warranty after service ?RM2.8k for D3 is O.O" tongue.gif
*
QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 4 2011, 06:33 PM)
Nope, not 1 year warranty. I think is 3 months if not mistaken.
*
6 months warranty. I've seen somewhere, a forumer mentioned before. biggrin.gif

now im deciding to get lowerpro flipside 300 or fast pack 350. wonder anyone here using it? need some comments thanks!
*
fastpack 350 is bulky... If you plan to put everything including laptop, then get fastpack like me (cannot put tripod). Or else get flipside, can put more gears and tripod. biggrin.gif

Hey guys, I just got myself a second hand Nikon D300 body for ~RM2600. Was it a good buy? Everything is in good condition and the shutter count is about 10k now. I'm still waiting for the seller to send it to me

Well, I'm treating this as a upgrade for my D40 smile.gif
*
Nice price! rclxms.gif Cheapest I've seen so far was RM2.7k.
