honestly speaking i got my car in feb 2011 and it is a 2011 model that came with drl until vgm stop the car from being released. they replaced it with the normal lights and allowed it out. at that time i already saw the drl on a gti it was parked beside my car in fa wagen glenmarie. so i think anyone buying a gti should wait if u want the lights included. im pissed i didnt get it. but anyhow i agreed to buy the car without the lights in the first place

Yes, me too try to find a place that can fit a window visor for my GTI. Anybody knows which shop offers this? Very helpful when park under the sun. With the window down slightly, inside the car is not very hot la. Especially the leather seat!

I was told the 2011 car will only come in end of may n not much diff compare to 2010 except DRL headlight. Am I right?

It requires modifying the RCD mainboard. There is a guy in Singapore who does it. Not cheap though, let me find out the cost and the contact

A bit off the current topic but I hope you'll indulge me ...

Went to the showroom to pay my downpayment and had a look at my car, pretty sad that I can't drive it off yet cause I'm still waiting for my number to come up (still under tender) ... don't think I'll be able to sleep at night from now on until I get the car.

Anyways, decided that the first thing to do to the car is to get it tinted. I've had Ecotint on my wife's car for about a year now and can't complain. Was wondering if any of you have any other recommendations (or real life experiences) as to what tint is good for a Golf GTI?

Oh ... and had a look at the 2011 Golf TSI parked next to my car and confirmed that it comes with the DRL but unfortunately normal rear lights. Initially thought that I wounldn't want the DRL but it's growing on me ... damn!

Nope ... currently it's an exclusive on the Golf R. You can buy aftermarket of course.

Then I am curious why you said that it is unfortunate that the Golfs come with normal rear lights?

In regards to tinting, so far both good reviews for 3M and V-kool. I am currently using V-kool and the best compliment I got from my colleagues is that when they entered my car the first thing try complimented was how cool it was in the car even when parked under the sun.

I just meant that it's a bit of a downer that 2011 Golf cars come with DRL headlights but not LED taillights. Personally, I'd go with the taillight upgrade first on my car.

If you feel down, there are a lot more things that golfs are not installed with hehe sunroof, better players and the KESSY system hahaha. But that is the price we pay for these items. Note like you said the read LED lights are exclusive meant for Golf R which is meant to make the R stand out as well.

On the other note, no issues with smart tag at all. I am using the V-kool elite on the front and back with the highest IR rejection rate among the other V-kool models and never had any issues with smart tag.
