Hey guys, where's one of the best places for men and women to do a full STD check up? As in friendly and helpful doctors, results dont have to be quick, but be reliable and reasonably fair priced? Any personal experiences?

My girlfriend and I did our full check at SDMC, previously known as SJMC under this gyne. We were told our results would be back in a week and we would be informed. I called back after 10 days, and the person who answered the phone told us she had to check with the gyne whether the results could be released which made perfect sense. So she hung up promising to call back within 30mins, she never did. I called back the following day, diff person answered, same excuse, this time, the doctor was busy with a patient.

13th day I called back, diff person answered, as usual they have to check with the doc if the results are ready etc, promised to call back, never did. 15 days later I called back, doctor was on leave. Maybe it's bad luck, but I've read amazing reviews on SDMC that's we wanted to go to a proper hospital for the check. Both of us together paid quite an amount, for checks, (cervical fluid extraction for her) and it's quite a distance to drive back plus we're both working. I was informed by the doc herself that the full report could be privately emailed to me with the permission from the hospital as I am not always in Malaysia due to the nature of my job.

So full test taken, money paid, no results, zero results. Not the most helpful doc when it came to answering our questions. Instead, she gave us that 'look' especially to my gf. Having said that, I'm looking for an alternative place. Any info + personal experience would be very much appreciated, thanks!

There's no cure for Herpes.

It seems like you have both HSV 1 and 2. But have you had any symptoms so far?

It's not life threatening and it's easily kept under controlled even though easily transmitted. Now what you can do is to read up on it and educate yourself about what the virus is all about.

Sexually Transmitted Disease is everywhere around the world. We never know who we encounter who has it, or is a carrier. So do be careful and take precaution at all times. Like they say prevention is better than cure, and in this case when you have it, you will have it, especially when it is viral. There is no cure for viral STD, so do be careful.

Take care and play safe everyone.

Hi all, decided to go for my std test at klinik bangsar south.

here's part of the details that they gave me when I enquired

After the blood test, I started to have some doubt. Cause the Dr took only took my blood for the STD test. As far as I recalled, for chlamydia there isn't any blood test for it. As the bacteria isn't found in the blood stream.

Cervical screening tests (smear tests) and routine blood tests do not detect chlamydia. You will need to tell the doctor or nurse if you would also like to be tested for chlamydia at the same time.

Asked her, chlamydia can be diagnose with blood alone? She said yes.
So, this is just something to be noted.

Blood enough to test presence of antibody against bacteria specific antigens.

if a female has STD but no symptoms, can it spreads to her bf? And her bf due to low immune system, get the STD and show the symptoms.
Also, do teh female needs any treatments if no symptoms?
*
Some people can be asymptomatic. They carry the virus but don't show any symptoms, e.g. some people with herpes are asymptomatic.

Yes, it's still transferable even if she doesn't show any symptoms.

Herpes is very easily contracted. Skin contact and you'll get it already. Condom is not 100% effective against herpes. The person could also be asymptomatic as described above and might not even know that he/she has it in their body. Herpes is also affected by our body immune system, some people are stronger, some weaker. So unless there was an obvious outbreak in his partner and there was skin contact (or sharing of certain things like utensils, towels, toothpaste, etc), it's gonna be hard to pin point how and when did he contracted the disease.

I have known friend who died on this. That's why be careful, use condoms when having sex. Know your partner first and be sure he or she is clean.

She needs to be diagnose with anything first before seeking for treatment. Has she go for a STD test yet?

If not yet, then don't even talk about treatment. Just go for the STD test to find out what you are so worried about. Then only think about treatment and prevention.
