I'm hearing RM7 - 8 per sq ft for tiles installation. Is this inclusive of removing the old tiles as well?

Planning a reno and would like to have a budget in mind to avoid being charged too high.

Thanks for your reply boss. I have not engaged a contractor yet, so will definitely be contacting you once the site is close to ready for viewing.

Your prices above include removing of old tiles as well? The area is around 1,500 sq ft and has existing tiles.

Thanks.

well what I know for wall..

maximum better take 2x1 size... bigger than kinda heavy... later cannot stick at wall.. drop/fall off after few years...

for flooring... 1x1 is better.... heavy duty type. not smooth type... and dark colours... black or dark brown like that... wall cream colours or yellowish like that... got like marble like that... but not real marble... tongue.gif

brand... can use MML, Alpha or Guocera... so far so good tongue.gif

Hi, the price is for new installation only.
For removing old tiles, disposal. and surface screeding we charge seperately. It's also based on the site condition.

Hi all,

Anyone has experience buying from homa2u

I have heard from contractors as these are overstock there may be defects on some of the tiles.

Price is reasonable though.

All the leading brands will include tiles that are suitable for toilet. Some popular tile brands in Malaysia are Niro Granite, White Horse, as well as China brands. For toilet tiles, what's most important is that the tiles have texture, not slippery, easy to clean and easy to cut.

Heard good things about Niro Granite. They have a large selection of textured tiles, and the formulation is not easy to crack when you need to cut the tiles to fit around pipes e.g. your shower head, etc.

For price, it range from RM10 psf to about RM30 psf. This price range us huge because of the huge range in tile grade, material, finishing n looks. There’s plenty of brand carried both expensive n economic tiles as the same time, even from the same brand, design n finishing price might be different due to the grade.

What is a tile grade? Grade 1 tiles are good for walls, grade 2 are good for homes flooring, grade 3 is for light to moderate foot traffic, grade 4 is for commercial use, grade 5 is for heavy foot traffic (e.g. shopping centre)

Higher grade tiles also promise more consistency. So the joint, levelling, colour, thickness will be much more consistent on higher grade tiles.

Price really depends, from RM15 psf to even RM100 psf for the really nice tiles, and moulded plastic can be thousands also. Super big tiles are really nice when used on feature walls, because there are less joining lines.

Nowadays you can get super large tiles, solid surface, quartz or even molded plastic that is exactly the size that you want and no joining lines. Do note that the larger the pieces are, the harder it is to stick to the backing surface. So make sure your sifu apply the glue evenly over the whole surface (this is called back buttering). Otherwise you may get hollow air bubbles and the piece could crack as it ages.

Actually, if you want a super large piece that will fit your wall perfectly, you can also get a big piece of marble, granite or quartz stone. Then it can be cut exactly to your size in one big piece.

Another thing to note is, in our experience so far with large tiles, sometimes the contractor will add lump sum surcharge to cover the work.

Thank you for your expert reply. If to purchase the economic tiles, but hoping not to crack for long period of time, it will need to have good workmanship, am I correct?

Not in this industry and less knowledge of these stuff.

Yes workmanship is important to prevent crack. The sifu need to mix the mortar correctly, and apply correctly also.

But, you also need to select the correct tiles for different surface. Even in bathroom, the tiles for the wall can be different for the floor. If you want to be more economical, you can save on the wall tiles first. Because wall tiles will experience less impact, and hence do not need to be premium type.

Why need to put tile there? If the foundation is stable like soil is not sunk on one side to the other, then nothing will crack. Why not just but pavement block like those on walkway?

Heavy duty commercial tile will also crack and break if there is shear force is applied by failing base foundation of the tiles biggrin.gif
