apparently, i asked one of the technician, he explained to me in more detail. he told me that acer rejected my swap request because they found scratches. funny thing, my 5750g still have the plastic wrappers and yet they manage to find scratches? so i ended up just taking a motherboard replacement.

well, thats good enough for me, atleast i dind't lose everything in my HDD smile.gif

this happen to me this evening. i sent mine for swap process in kluang highpoint. the tehnician checks my laptop for a while and informed me that i cannot swap my laptop due to some minor scratches.
Of course i went berserk by calling the HQ. after that they inform me about the so-called fine prints condition for the swap process.
I'm adding Acer to my hatelist now.why dont they just inform me when i called them countless times before?
They are recycling the old 5750G body for the new 5750G thats why they want the lappy to be in a new condition. They are actually profiting from Intel losses.

is it the technician from HQ or the technician from highpoint itself? the seremban technician did checked mine and happy with the condition... still waiting for the refund. if only need to change the motherboard, still have to wait. why dont u try other highpoint branch.

hmm.gif I think it is the Highpoint problem~
When I submitted in, they only take a look and quite confuse but also accept my laptop, and yeah mine is scratchless~

Hi,

i just got my acer 5750 (second one after getting my first one back in january due to sandy bridge issue...)

BUT now i have the same problem again?

The laptop is manufactured in 03/2011 but all diagnostics tools like cpu-z or aida64 show me that it still has the b2-stepping chipset from intel?

Is this a joke or is acer seriouskly delivering still buggy mainboards? I'm quite upset... Though the check on the acer homepage shows me that theres no need for rpairm but i'd rather belive those tools than acer's webpage...

can anybody look up and see if he/she has b3-stepping( new bugfree) or has the buggy b2-stepping, too?

by using cpu-z for example, simple tool:
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

no need to install just download the zip archive on the right.

then start and tell me please what is said under "mainboard" and "cpu"

mine is looking like that:
user posted image

It shouldn't be B2 in "mainboard"(in the red circle) i think?

edit: wanted to add.

I think acer doesn't change the mainboards really, they may change the ports of the hdd, mine is connected to th #0-port which shouldn't be affected by the bug. So it would have no effect for those woh still have b2 stepping instead of b3.???

Currently in college so can't dl CPU-Z, will test it later~
Which part of ur laptop is in port 0?
Check ur HDD and optical disk port~
If it is located in 0 and 1 then it's safe~

ok, well port0=HDD, port2=DVDdrive

i got contact with some other buyers, having same issue, i hope acer is not playing a game with the customers selling us buggy hardware hoping that after the warranty time we cant do anything...

strange: On the acer supporrt webpage it says thers no need for service...

but would be really interesting what stepping you have, as your motherboard was indeed changed

the technician is from the highpoint kluang. i called their HQ on the spot they also say the same thing. Acer wont accept swap request if the laptop has scratch even a minor one that is visible to naked eyes.
changing mobo needs 3 days. they told me this yesterday.
i dont have the luxury of time to travel from one branch to another as i have my final exam in 3 weeks time.
still have a lot things more important than running from one highpoint branch to another.
maybe i will just change the mobo.
and yes, this will be last Acer product i will buy in my entire life.
changing to other brand after this.

If thats true i'm fine, if not i'll show them that response if anything happens to my optical drive hmm.gif

@GooD_Day: don't want to urge you but would be very nice of you when you have time to check your stepping

When I send in, they asked for receipt~
Not sure if it is necessary or not~
Most probably can because they asked if I had brought the receipt with me, just tell them u forgot to bring it will do~
At least try~
