QUOTE(sleepwalker @ May 11 2011, 08:40 AM) Those are bitumen strips that people use to patch zinc roofs. One side is bitumen and the other side is aluminium and about 3-4mm thick. You can find them in most hardware stores. The bitumen is sticky so all you need is to take the strip with the bitumen side facing the inside of the door/chassis and paste on. hi all....i did some soundproofing on my car door...used the sika brand soundproofing....dual layer....and also on my wheel archs since u guys are talking about sp, was wondering, now i am contemplating adding on, either to my roof or floor..budget only allows one...which will have the most improvement? tks.... Here is a simple NVH improvement that most people don't even think about. If you have the opportunity to remove the carpet, then do the whole flooring. If you don't want to remove carpet, one simple and cheap but effective noise reduction is to cut a piece of thick 9mm Insulflex the same size/shape of your car mat and stick it at the bottom of the mat. If you are doing the driver side, just make sure you have enough clearance between the mat and your accelerator pedal since the 9mm adds quite a bulk to the mat. It reduces so much vibration from the floor that the car gives you a much quieter 'feel'. The roof does not help much except when it rains. Also taking out the roof panel is a big pain in the butt. Do it wrong and you crease the roof panel for life. The current topic on soundproofing reminds me of my soundproofing obsession 10 years ago. I also remembered buying insulflex in bluk, 3 feet by 30 feet and shared between my friend and I. This post has been edited by sleepwalker: May 11 2011, 11:43 AM

Haha good idea sticking insluflex under the mats..I can't wait to stick in my boot area..I think that area is one of the main source of sound intrusion Added on May 11, 2011, 12:17 pmQUOTE(sallehsi @ May 11 2011, 12:10 PM) my comments on your mod xion..the idea is there.unique.the effects of the LEDs a quite nice actually..the only thing i dont favor is the choice of color and it doesnt match with ur bright silver..red is a lil' bit ah beng to me..more suitable with darker color (ebony black, metal bronze)..im wondering why u chose red instead of white LEDs..i think it will suit ur bright silver more(although it will still look ah beng..hehe) but it will look much better..my opinion only Haha he exPlained why he used red before d.. Even a 1.3mp phone camera at 1280 pixels across will break the borders. The recommend way is to upload it as an attachment. That way you don't need to worry about the pixels. If you are going to link it, then keep below 800x600. The FnF thread has a fixed border size and it is the same no matter whether you are using 20 inch or 30 inch monitor.

Xion Bro,
i think bitumen is dampening mat which able to absorb high freq vibration from metal sheet and to reduced vibration and transfer into noise. Nowadays manufacturing are concern on cost, therefore the metal sheet produced are thin, and easily to be vibrate. There is plenty of brands outside, Dynamat, Sika, RAAMmat, etc.
Seanoys,
yaya, same experienced with u as well.there is 1 nut damn difficult to be open, eventhought i tried to used the hand drill machine, in the end i give up, haha... i apply bitumen mat (RAAMmat brand)on the place where u stick also, then i applied the SP (superlon brand)mat with self adhesive on the back of door trim cover, haha...

You don't use the bitumen strip on its own. Furthermore, the aluminium backing is paper thin and meant to hold the bitumen in place. You use the bitumen strip in conjunction with the insulflex and dynamat. We use the bitumen strip as a cheaper alternative to the CLD Tiles from RAAMmat. After applying the bitumen strips, we then apply the Insulflex on top of it. We use the bitumen strips for sound deadening and insulflex for the proofing.

Test drove the 1.6 SX and Koup today at 1U. For the test drive they gave you this little gift. Make a booking for the 1.6SX and they gave you all these [a Kia event T-shirt, a bag pack, an umbrella and a shopping bag] So now the waiting game starts. PS. During my test drive at the Sungei Penchala stretch, just as I floored the pedal, the police with their speed gun was right in front of me. Oops. Sorry, a speeding ticket for Naza Kia.
