as long as there's sufficient ventilation, i.e. not in a closed room, your modem should b good.
my modem is located at the living room side table, plenty of cooling

before this i put a living room also.. dunno.. after 3 days use already blow up and not working already... so now change already and put a fan beside it oo...

I also notice the modem is quite hot sometimes, I have install a 4" fan on top of the modem and it really helps. Im sure the hardware will fail if the temperature is always high.

i saw some one use cooller master on those things also...they plug usb port into the router usb port...

anyway, my modem now is cold !! hahaha

Hey guys, I am getting UniFi next wednesday, can anyone tell me what to expect? Eg how many power socket will I need, how it's done, need table or rack for the stuff etc.?

You'll need a power extender. You'll be using 2 power slots, 1 for router and 1 for modem.

Oh ya, 1 more power slot for the TV decoder thing.

May I ask if you use a different router like Linksys, will you still get all the bundled features like IPTV and all that?
