Hmm a bit confused.

In Sony Ericsson and GSMarena arena stated this phone has 512MB RAM.

However on the phone it has only 300MB. Or am I reading it wrong?

That's why need root access, to do advanced cleaning to 'free' more memory.

It is in fact 1GB internal storage (hard disk?) AND 512MB RAM (memory?).

The phone is preloaded with lots of apps and therefore is left 300MB usable. Some firmware (I think is Nordic Generic) are loaded with less (bloatware) apps therefore it had more internal storage available.

with root, you can move some of the apps (partially) to SD. this is especially critical to us with comparative low disk space than other competitor. I had little to worry after upgraded the SD to 32GB.

the latest official ROM has very little bloatware. i check battery use, only few running apps/services. nice

is the latest Update 2.3.4 available in SEUS in our region? last 2 weeks its still 2.3.3.

this is my very first android phone, still learning n explore the possibilities B-)

i used Wotanserver software to debrand & update it to official 2.3.4 . no need to root or other difficult process

is it 'no other difficult process'??

3) download both, install usb driver. then run the wotan client and follow the step-by-step instructions.

4) for neo, I chose 2.3.4 (BALTIC) (ENGLISH)

5) restart first time it froze, restarted 2nd time, its done

i tried using GingerBreak still cannot r0ot

i don't see any good reason to root my phone

i want t0 install r0oting apps, like Titanium..it's very useful t0 me

you need to downgrade to 2.3.2 to use gingerbreak. then update OTA to maintain root access.

Titanium is really useful. Besides that there's useful apps to block ads and also downclock or overclock the processor (for performance or power saving)

Root: To use Administrative right on you phone. Similar to Windows Administrator user account.

Today Google officially release Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony Ericsson announced all 2011 Xperia will have ICS flavor update soon (which is dunno how soon).

hye folks..
i m using neo.

last tym, i try to root my 2.3.4 neo. by refering steps in xda forum. what i need flashing to downgrade neo to 2.3.2 first to apply gingerbreak.apk.. after that i need upgrade back to 2.3.4 via OTA.

However, after downgrade, my neo boot as normal, but then the battery icon shows 0% and the phone turn off.. reflash firmware and kernel again and again still not solving this problem...

Kindly, is there any taiko here know what to do?
