it'll be easier for ppl to help if you provide your location
for example, no point recommending penang if you are in JB, right?

just test drove this car in the Honda dealer in Bandar Sri Damansara...
i'm not an expert car reviewer..so, i'll just cut it short..hehe
this car has good handling, decent pick up and the exterior looks better than i thought
the only downside of this car is the legroom of the rear passenger of the car is rather limited and hardly can fit in a 6 feeter..
so far, no promotion for this car as it is newly launched..lead time car car delivery is expected on May/June upon booking is made
Interest rate is around 2.6-2.7% for 7-9 years loan
SA said Honda might be able to bring in the CRZ model in tentatively in July
so, if u happen to change your mind by then, the booking fees is transferable to other models if u have not collected your insight

Guys, how long can the battery survive? One of my fren said it can tahan about 3-5 years only then need to change to new battery cost around 10-15k..is this true or not for hybrid cars?

hmmm. for those who test driven the car, how do you feel when looking at the back mirror? How is the visibility with the brake line part in the middle?

That is my only concern as i rely pretty much on the back mirror to look at cars behind

that's a concern... with the SA sitting in the middle... visibility is really low.... duno can get use to it or not.
other down side is the small rear room...especially the center seat, totally can't fit in the center sit.. 6" tall...
There is no paddle shift... i tot there was.... as the reviews in youtube stated it... but i check the local spec.. there was none stated..:-(

Other than that, other stuff is positive, the pickup is as fast / if not faster than the City, ride was smooth, steering was light and reponsive.
The built quality is quite good, but there is still alot of plastic around.

will try another round of test drive on a steep hill... :-)

middle rear seat very2 not comfortable, cannot suit any adult, kids maybe.

I also love to have those paddle shift, although had to add a little thousand to the car price.

debbierowe,
Just choose by ur heart, choose an honest SA, not SA like suddenly ask when to book. biggrin.gif

anyone can advice where can view a BLACK insight in KL?
So far, saw all the colors, blue, white and silver.

Am considering for my wife and she seems interested in Black. Thus would like to look at "real" black insight before deciding.

Test drove today:

Cons:
1. old fashion door handle
2. low roof line particularly at the back seat
3. no paddle shift

Pro:
1. zippy, for those who feel it kinda laggy, switch off econ mode, you will feel the difference.
2. about 8K more than a city. personally an 8K premium for this more technological advance and better specs car, worth it. Further more, its made in Japan, CBU
3. its a Hybrid smile.gif

The CRZ launching in July soon is 1.5 normal hybrid version... The 1.6 with turbo is not known yet, it still undergoing final R&D in Japan.

Although the CRZ should nothing more than a Civic Hybrid price, but it is subject to HM to price it premium as a sports hybrid, and in a way to preserve the Insight sales.

The only thing that will deter Insight sales from being affected much beside from the price is the practicality of CRZ that are 2 seaters only.

I will post up latest update once I got any...

and honda is not famous for producing turbocharged cars (what more for a type R)

anyone can advice where can view a BLACK insight in KL?

You can ask the SA if it is possible for you to view it at the store yard

Yes... Honda famed for their high performance NA engines that can even match others with force induction... But due to emission control, go green and global engine downsizing trend... It seems that's the only way... We do love something like K20A still smile.gif...

And Honda did have turbocharged engine, like the K23, and way long before JDM City 1.3 Turbo... My mom used to own one red City that time...

I've checked with my SA, from PG Crystal Point branch. The warranty will not be void if u choose Fully Sync and do more than 5k service interval as long as not more than 8k. It's up to the cust as he mentioned, but highly advisable for 5k interval to ensure the car at best condition. not sure on other states/branch though...

i see
cos the filter is designed for 10k/6 months
and i was advised to save money and come back later when i brought my city in for 5k service with about 2k logged since the last service
and that was also under warranty period

just did a quick comparison of the Preventive Maintenance Rates and Costs Honda Insight
it appears that the price for mantaining a 1.3 Honda Insight is even more expensive that the 2.4 Honda Accord cry.gif
no doubt we could save a lot of $$ from fuel consumtion..but then these savings are actually meant for the battery replacement for future..
therefore, i am still considering whether if it is worth to invest on this car..

Yes, unless even the director of GA mistaken... Both the director and sales manager keep reminding me that the maintenance revised to that of City =)... And also the battery warranty revised to 5 years and costs down to 6000.

But don't worry... I will drop by again and have a talk to re-confirm.

Test drove the insight today. The verdict is solely according to my style of driving. I own both '08 City and the current one.

- Feels like something in between those City's. CVT is better. Power is there. I feel its accelerates faster than current city.

- Power is adequate if you know how to play with the throttle to get the most out of the CVT. I drove CVT city for nearly three years.

- Even with spirited driving the fuel consumption meter showed 11.xkm/L. And the car only clocked less than 300km. I'd say this is very very good considering the engine is not run in yet.

- Reached 140km/h with ease. I think the car is good enough for highway cruising.

- Handling is good. Though body roll is there around the same level as the city. Maybe due to wider tyres, the car seems much more precise and grippy during cornering.

- Interior is great as with almost all of Honda cars. Though I'd have to agree that the headroom is a bit lacking.

- Rear seats are a bit hard same as most recent honda cars e.g City and CR-V.

- Cockpit is hightech and fancy. Feels like playing a computer game. More buttons than usual. Might be a bit distracting at first when you don't know which information you want to be displayed.

- I'd say it is a bit quieter than the current city.

- Good sound system.

- Comes with Bridgestone Turanza tyres. IINM a good enough tyre.

- 16" rims that looks a lot better than Prius'

- Made in Japan

Downside

- Long waiting period. I've been told 4-5 months

- ECON mode is limiting. I reckon most would turn this off unless you are in a heavy traffic jam.

I didn't find anything weird when driving. And i didn't take a look at the maintenance cost etc. Just driving experience. And I admit I am a bit biased towards honda.

I would recommend the car for a small family, those who drives through traffic jams everyday.

And in summary, I never thought I would like this insight as I do now.

You are from Penang too?
Good to hear that. Would love to test drive Honda Insight too......
Actually been reading this forum and see that a lot of debate for Hybrid car for Pros and Cons. I can see that GoGO2 is a hardcore fan of Honda Hybrid car...

What i can say is different people will have a different mind set. I have been driving Honda Civic Hybrid and i feel that Honda Technology is awesome. And the power and Torque is there. I am sure that all the Honda Insight buyer will not be disappointed with Honda Technology.

How many Car manufacturer managed to get into F1 sport? Honda is one of them........so cheers to Honda Owner......

so far my dad was very satisfied with the toyota SA when he bought his camry but the worst SA anyone could ever encounter was the one that we bought a Myvi few years back, where during handling over the car, car + SA disappeared, the SA used our new car for weeks before give it to us, plastic cover on seat all gone too... worst nightmare

I'm surprised you accepted the car anyway. You have every right to reject the car.

And Honda policy now is, customer need to fetch their cars themselves from the dealer. This is to ensure that the customer receive the car in almost new condition.

My CR-V only clocked 6km when I get it. This should be the practice for all car dealers today.

In my case, the SA just refused to use the car even when we told him it was OK to send the car to our home.

He said that it's against the policy cause they want to protect the customer in any way they can. That's reassuring.

Hehe... If I place order, I would get special allocation within a week... That's nice... But too bad I can't give this allocation to friend.

And yes, it is Honda practice to ask customer to collect car instead of delivery... And typically you should expect anything less than 15KM mileage. Cause some center they are far away from inspection place.

when did you do the booking?
my sales agent told me...if allocation is done now, the lead time for car delivery will be in 4-5 months
coz every branch has only allocations of 8 units per month  hmm.gif
*
wa... 4-5 months... but worth the wait i guess...

blue also nice, white also very nice .. tongue.gif

by march my sis can confirm base in malaysia or not, then will go book the car.. hope we really get it, then i can swap during weekends

Hi all PG folks. Just got confirmation from my SA the Insight is available for test drive at KAH Motor Sungai Pinang from today.

She also claimed same to other branches including Vivahill Crystal Point. Highly encourage to book your test drive to avoid disappointment.

Gonna do it 99 for Eco's sake.

I found out many dealers actually using unregistered new car for customer test drive - pretty not professional and not fair to the "owner" of that car. sweat.gif sweat.gif wink.gif sweat.gif

So fast u can get ur car? When did u book and what colour?

I booked mine on 12 Dec last year and my SA kept telling me AP issue, allocation issue and colour issue. Seem like he going to drag time. Sigh!

Any way I can check allocation number with Honda HQ?

Hi bro,

is your new car being parked at inside the showroom?
Pudu's Honda, the one opposite Tung Shin and Chinese Maternity Hospital, right?

My wife interested in BLACK but so far no chance to look at the real car to decide...
If your unit is easily visible, might drop by later after work to take a peep..

Hope you dont mind.. brows.gif

Then when sit behind, it is so cramp, can even knock head if going out from the car.

It is a good car, for town car, but alil too small for traveling.

and, almost tax free. biggrin.gif

Tested the Honda Insight at Glenmarie, manage to have a short test drive only because the car yet registered -.-"

Below are my thought of the car.

The things I like;

1. The engine is surprisingly quiet an when I turn the ignition, I hardly hear the noise.
2. The sound proof is not bad, feel just like the current Honda City.
3. Love the instrument meter, a bit futuristic feel.
4. Can feel the high torque although in low RPM.
5. The seat shape is quite comfortable.
6. Nice 16" rim and sporty look.
7. It has "Geek" look which I like. tongue.gif

The things I found annoyed

1. Low headroom on the rear. I'm 6 foots 1" I couldn't sit behind, I may snap my head if go over bump.
2. The kick start resume from engine stop while on traffic is very obvious.
3. If you place ur gear to P, the engine stop wouldn't works.
4. Difficulty to see behind if car fully loaded with passengers at the back.

I was thought all Honda Hybrid's car can only assemble in Honda's Suzuka, Japan. The only plant that can handle Hybrid car's part.

i am going to meet up with my sales agent later in the afternoon to discuss about the trade in price for my old car and NCD transfer matters..
if everything goes well, most likely gonna place the booking today and expected delivery would be 4-5 months from now
though the waiting time is long, i believe this is worth the while as the car is a CBU unit from japan....after this year, future bookings will be coming in as CKD from thailand

made my booking already via my sales agent in Bangsar....he told me the allocation for March/April has been fully taken for those customers whom made their bookings in Nov/Dec...
earliest possible allocation would be in May onwards subject to availability.
Anyway, i managed to get RM 500 personal discount from my SA...he told me it was taken from his personal sales commission for the car... thumbup.gif

I also test drive already. Great pickup. I have a feeling that pickup is faster
after I disable the ECO button. Anyone feel the same? The electronic look
pretty.

Also, at 12noon, the sun so hot, having ECO mode make the aircond feel hot
because I'm fat. Fat people feel hot faster. My thin gf does not feel hot.

Unfortunately, I test drive a Ford Focus tdci (turbo diesel) before I test drive Honda Insight. So my liking is veered towards Ford Focus TDCI. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

bro, the ECO mode will shut down the aircond for a certain duration for energy saving..therefore, not advsiable to try it during afternoon sweat.gif
the pickup and acceleration of ford focus tdci is obviously better due to higher torque and diesel turbo charged..
but then, the price difference between ford focus and honda insight is around 30k..if you such bufget, perhaps you might be interested to look at the higher end hybrid car such as toyota prius thumbup.gif

as I said, the discount/freebies/rebate is solely taken out personally from the sales commission of the SA..
therefore, I won't be expecting too much from the SA as well...
perhaps you may want to discuss with your SA about exchanging those gifts with cash rebates

Btw, the reason i got this reabte if because i have been referred to this agent whom is a close relative of my colleague
also, and this SA only need to process the booking procedures as I have already took the test drive in some other branch earlier
hence, this SA has less work to do and subsequently offer me the personal rebtate... brows.gif

To be detail:
- Futuristic dashboard with lots of button to push. Nice meter clusters with lots of information, i have to stop to read everything.
- Pickup better with tree button off after 4k rpm-vtec kicks in (a bit better than Altis 1.8). Engine noise acceptable.
- Silent when stationary (engine auto-off). Only mild blower sound.
- Engine restart was seamless when resume driving.
- Braking felt a bit awkward (does this car equipped with regenerative braking?)
- Steering also awkward (not really use to EPS)
- Nice eco colour on the meter cluster. Changes between green and blue according to your driving style(eco=green)
- 98k on the road. 96+++k with NCD 55% (if trade in my car)
- Free tint, full tank, visor and honda gifts.
- Ride & handling just like City.
- Maximum 50km/liter (on meter).
- Information from SA, full tank up to 900km, top speed 170++kmh

if performance is what you're aiming for, then hybrid cars definitely will not meet your requirements
If not mistaken, the mileage Focus TDCI can achieve is as good as the hybrid cars...but not sure the yearly road tax renewal for diesel cars and it could be quite expensive

Honda Insight Driving Experience

Introduction
As Promise, here is my driving experience from the 2 test drives I did. I am going to reference a lot on Honda City(test drove many times) and Myvi(My Car). Going to split the review to 2 section, section one is The Car, which is all the look, style, comfort, built, features and design of the car. And second is The Drive, related to the handling, performance ..etc of the car.

The Car
First the look of the car, it's not the slickest car, nor the best looking one. But it does look good. Some may not like the tail design, but it's an sero dynamic design that reduces wind drag. The car design is very slick and sort of agressive look. So no complains from me in the looks department.

The built of car is good, there is no loose parts or weird sounds when driving it. It's MADE in JAPAN. It's a known fact that Japanese goods/Car have very good QA. Altough there may be still a few "bad" ones but the chances are lower compared to CKD cars. The downside is this is still a low cost car, and there is still alot of plasticky feel, the door and dash used hard plastic. The seats are well built and comfortable( At least in the front.). Other cheap material is the styroform in the spare tyre area....:-(
Overall built quality is still reasonably good.

The Comfort of the whole car however has a major downside. The roof line is really low, the rear seats have adequent leg room, but the head room is very limited. I am 6 feet tall, and when sitting upright at the back seat, my head is touching the roof. It's the same for City, and surprise surprise. ...Civic. For Myvi..Ican't touch the roof with my head even if I tried hard. It's still ok if the from seat is not push back all the way, as I can sit lower, and there is still a CM of space. For the middle Back seat.... it's one of the worst seats in any car... I tot that WV Jetta's middle seat was bad. This is even worse... The seat is lifted up about 3 CM and the width of the lifted up portion is quite small, and bigger bottom will find it very uncomfortable, and person taller than 5.5 feet will have trouble sitting there. I for one, can't fit into that seat, end of story. It's a good 4 person + 1 child car or 5 person short distance car. I can accept this as I will be driving this, and won't be fetching 4 ppl for a long distance anyway.

For an 98K car, it's not the most feature pack car around, Forte/Fiesta has more features than this car and at a lower price. But this is a Hybrid, and that extra "Feature" need to be counted as well. So if counting all the Hybrid tech and feature, this is one of the more feature packed car around. It has all the basic features. Take a brochure and read it for the features.
Overall it's feature list is extensive.

The Dash Design is futuristic, the speedometer is big and easy to read. There is a lot of information in the Dash. One downside is that this is a tech savvy car, and too much button and information may be too much for some people... No problems for me.. me more the better!

Lastly the boot space is big considering this is an hatch back , it's has one of the biggest boot for an hatch. Should be enough for a weekend away for an family or a week away for a couple.

Few things I do not understand, Why honda will not include an auto lock feature when you press the brake? as i always forget to lock the door once i start driving... maybe it can be done...
4/5 for the Car.

The Drive
Acceleration is pretty decent. At lowest speed/rpm, it has plenty of torque to move the car. It's a breeze to go to 80KMh. It accelerate slightly faster than a City and was faster than my Myvi. Even when I step full trottle suddenly, the CVT is smoother to pick up than the 4/5 speed auto of the MYVi/City, the 4/5 auto will drop a gear.. or two and there is a massive jerk and lag(Engine revving high... but car not moving forward). I did not feel the same with the CVT, the power transfer is better. Just my experience with playing with the trottle. Turn of ECON mode and performance improve slightly. And even more performance can be obtain in S mode. One thing to note, When i am driving this with my normal driving style. It's always Light or DARK blue in the speedo.... until i reach cruising speed. But to maintain it up a slight slope.. it will turn light blue again need to lift trottle and lose speed to keep it green.... So it's pretty hard for me to keep it GREEN all the time. I need to really be gentle on the trottle. And if you want all GREEN, the performance sucks.. BIG time. Handling of the car is good, the steering is reponsive a light. MAybe too light for some. Braking is decent too.

Overall I am statisfy with the performance as I will not aim to get all flowers and be GREEN all the time.

The Dash has all the information in view and will not distract you from driving. But one thing will distract... The rear window... it's bad. visibility is low, and the middle split is ditracting. Add in 3 person at the back.. it's pretty much.. a useless rearview mirror. I depend on the rear view a lot.. so it's a letdown.. guess i have to use the side mirrors more now.....:-)

Auto stop function is good but in a hot day.. the AC cutoff is unbearable... duno if there is a way to disable Autostop in ECON mode..... it's a hassle to turn of econ every single time you feel hot during a stop... heard that if the AC is turned on high and low temp.. it may stop the auto stop....

The starting of the engine after an autostop produces a slight jerk.. it's totally acceptable for me.. Coz I drive a manual old car.. jerks happen all the time...:-)

The ride is smooth... really smooth..suspension is soft and comfy..... and surpisingly really quiet on a normal drive... All the review's from US says the car is noisy.. seem like the have not sit in a MYVI or ISWARA before.. Insight feels like a library.. compare to a wet market of ISWARA.
No complains here...

I checked my test drive unit.. it only shows 11.2 km/l it's not really a lot.. but the ave speed is 22kph. that's low. From my test, i could see during normal accleration i get about 12-15KM/L instant. Hard Accleration is 5 - 10KM/L ... but during cruising it's 15-25. so i guess a normal drive will be arount 16- 19KM/L.. ECO drive... maybe 20 - 22 KM/L??

So the score for the Drive is... 4/5

Overall
It's 4 stars of of 5... means it's a BUY for me... I have book a sliver Insight last month.. and I have decide to get it.....:-)

Pros:
Nice design
CBU Japan!!
good performance.
Nice ride experience.
Saves fuel..if you drive it right.

Cons:
Back head room...:-(
MIDDLE BACK SEAT!!!
REAR view....
Really really hard to maintain all GREEN...

Hope you enjoy my review.....:-) my 1st ever...

*
Just some correction for the bolded items

- The engine never auto off itself. I think the proper term for this is the engine is on standby. If the engine is turned off, it would need another ignition to start.
- I think this is very subjective depending on how light your foot is. But the more precise figure is around 1100km. The fuel consumption meter shows 50km/l and ideally with 42 liters of fuel, that can go up to 2000km. But let's be realistic, I'd put the figure somewhere around 30km/L and that equals to 1200km. YMMV.

As for the handling, I think the Insight is slightly better due to its 16" and wider tyres.

great one nOOb123...
as for me, I had booked from this SA in Dec..can I change SA now from another branch?(without affecting my queue/waiting list)  blush.gif

just curious, would you go for RM500 rebate or ECO tint + door visor?
*
For me, I'll prefer to take the RM 500 cash rebate and lump it to buy the OEM bodykit in future drool.gif
anyway, from my personal opinion, it is unethical to switch SA just becoz your existing SA could not match the personal rebates given by other SA
additionally, i believe the only way you could switch SA is to withdraw your current booking fees and re-submit your booking...
by doing this, i'm afraid that your allocation will need to be requeued...

I think the engine really shut off because the RPM goes to 0.

And then when its turn on back, you can feel the shudder, which is the ignition part to start the engine...

I wonder if this will reduce the lifespan of the engine with on and off the engine... hmm.gif

by the way, I really should not test drive Ford Focus tdci 15 minutes before I test drive Honda Insight. It makes me feel
the driving dynamics of Ford so much better than Honda Insight. icon_question.gif

Just wonder, our diesel here ok with the tdci engine ?? Heard it is not really compatible for this GREEN-ENGINE. Furthermore, Ford - the resale value may not so appealing. Just my personal opinion unsure.gif

if performance is what you're aiming for, then hybrid cars definitely will not meet your requirements
If not mistaken, the mileage Focus TDCI can achieve is as good as the hybrid cars...but not sure the yearly road tax renewal for diesel cars and it could be quite expensive
*
I did not aim for anything in specific. Want to get the best bang for the buck.

Tax renewal for petrol and diesel is same. So the Ford TDCI is RM376 per year.

The reason Ford bring TDCI engine here because our government introduce Euro 2Modified for our country.
So our diesel is definitely ok with TDCI engine.

Resale value for Hybrid call also doubtful. So I think the risk buying Honda Insight and Ford Focus TDCI is same.
But.... that's just my opinion...

I really should go test drive Ford and Insight back to back today. That's my opinion also. Lol

yes blocked. So I adjust my body to see it because I did not adjust the seat earlier.

By the way, the acceleration is quite good. Can reach 100km/h very fast. Especially ECON button is off.

But because I test drove a Ford TDCI, I don't have that rush feeling. sad.gif

All I know is RM7k is for the battery. But I believe in few years, we have battery reconditioning service.

Also, historically, Insight battery last for 200,000km.

20KM/L should be easy for turbo diesel... Cause even my City I got best 21.5KM/L... Though average driving only 16KM/L...

at first also I want to book silver because you know la, high tech car must come in silver color (to me
silver is metal look which is synonymous with technology).

Comparing 320nm torque of Ford with 200nm Insight, I think Ford win. icon_question.gif

But you need to off ECO button to have a bit higher torque. Overall good package.

Good to see so many people booked the insight. I booked a pearl white for my wife last month, expect delivery in 3 months from now. The SA from Kah Motor is good, giving RM500 rebate from his own commission. I have the same views as most people do, rear view, rear head room, but overall package at RM98k is very good, 2.7% 3 years 50k loan public bank.

Now planning to put eibach spring, modulo bodykit, vkool, leather seats, hid, and touch screen DVD.

u kenot put ford tdci to compare with insight...diesel car naturally has buck load of torque...to makes things better they always fit diesel engines with a fairly small turbo so tat it boost the torque figure even more...if plainly just wan to drive with high torque,go for a 4x4...their 2.5 turbocharged engine will really giv u TORQUE...my daily driven work car is a Frontier...diesel run on very low rpm...and the power delivery are always around 2k-3.5k rpm...revving more than tat u can hear the engine screams but the car wont move any faster

i went to honda actmar just now...lots of people waiting for test day so i arrange another day...overall the car looks ok...the rear passenger roof is really LOW...i'm just 170cm and my hair is touching the roof already...boot is prestty decent but not comparable to honda city

the interior feels plasticky but from touch and knock it seems tat japanese use better quality plastics....and actually by using plastic only then they can achieve weight saving, which contributes to fuel economy....like the rear spare tyre they use styrofoam which i think is a very good idea which makes it simply and light yet pratically functional.... Honda city type R has the same thing for weight saving purposes and comes with no spare tyres

The Econ button features seem wonderful!

When the button is ON, and you're at traffic light, the petrol engine totally cut off... ZERO RPM...

when the minutes you release the break, the Petrol engine jump back...

a short review, done a comprehensive test drive in puchong today, served by a good salesperson, and able to have a test drive as i'm there before lunch time, nobody is there yet.

Interior QUality: Good, better than city, as it has all the bell and whistle like full auto aircon, a lot of display and trip computer, a floating speedometer(color changing),headlight leveling. Dark color tone, with flawless fitting, VSA, cruise control, a long list and features not even in accord 2.4 . auto wiper and headlamp.

Safety: Flawless, with long list of features that is not even on 2.4 accord, but too bad 2 airbags only, i remember it should be 4, but i might be expecting too much. (or honda need to make a little profit too tongue.gif )

Speed: to be frank, due to 4 person in the car, the car feels like myvi, no i cant feel the 200nm torque no matter how hard i stepped and even after disable the econ mode, nope, its not a fast car. i guess partly due to CVT gearbox also. I can only say, its better than myvi, but not better than city/vios. Power still need to burn fuel.

Drive: Nimble and light steering( previous gen City is better weighted), and handles well in the corner ( though my passenger was shocked by the way i drive), its all under control and feels confident.

Cabin feel : front seat feels airy, but rear seat is very very tight. Its worse than vios, city, myvi. For a 170cm person to sit nicely in front, the person 170 cm at back risk the knee touching the front passenger seat. middle seat is not for adult, only for very small kid, as it will block the rear view totally. But not many car's middle seat can seat ppl anyway. One problem is no cup holder/armrest at rear. Expecting that.

Boot space: I can only say, its a hatchback, and the space is better than myvi, but, worse than 308, ford focus. Pls dont compare to sedan, lol. BUt they give a trunk cover, which is good.

FC: well, its at least 20km/l, but, are you willing to sacrifice space ( rear and boot) & Fun ( SPeed=fun) for FC? if you do, then, this is perfect.

Verdict: if you have a small family, or you're tired of vios/city, go buy this car.

THis will not replace city or vios due to space, and the good FC is contributed by smaller engine and battery. Less power, less fun wink.gif

But i think with VIos/city advantages(cabin size and boot), insight cannot grab too many sales from this.

Its perfect for city driving, and asking for fun and speed is not justice smile.gif

i think the look and the tax free part is convincing enough for most to place the booking.

Worry: Battery & CVT.

freebies are pretty standard across all HM dealers. Unless you know particular SA well. Stuff likes tint voucher, petrol, umbrellas, etc etc....

To me it is equally important as well is their human touch, their customer centric passion and excellent customer experience. Just comfortable enough for me to book with them smile.gif

sudah bro. I test drive Ford Focus 2.0 tdci Turbo Diesel and 15 minutes later, I test drive Honda Insight.

Comparing 320nm torque of Ford with 200nm Insight, I think Ford win.  icon_question.gif

Looking at the brochure, the peak torque of the insight seems to be 160+Nm at 1000-1500rpm

losing another way of auto save petrol.

Nope unfortunately, for brake auto lock that one need aftermarket mods... Stock auto lock and unlock system only supports those mode I stated above.. smile.gif

You guys can check out manual when your car arrived... Inside there they teach step by step how to program...

Cause I dun liked the auto unlock mode for my Civic, therefore I program to off it. For me Auto Lock is good no matter in which mode, but auto unlock is somehow dangerous. But most people will program to Speed Lock, and Ignition Off Auto Unlock.

Generally, Insight 1.3 vs Prius 1.8...

Alternately, Insight is fully CBU unit while Prius stripped down much more

Moreover, the price difference between 2 models Insight sub 100K at RM98K, Prius around 130K+...

And, maybe do you really need a 1.8 for hybrid?

Finally... Test drive and get impressed yourself.

HONDA claim:
QUOTE
"When you're in less of a hurry, there's enough electric motivation to propel the 2010 Insight at city speeds up to 30 mph with the engine off. This transition is utterly seamless because the always-connected nature of the system means the engine is still spinning and the tachometer still registers whenever the car moves. In this fuel-cut electric mode, the Insight's VTEC system switches to a lobe-less round cam that keeps the valves shut to reduce pumping losses."

Maybe I can set it to 48 km/h (equivalent to 30 mph) and then hopefully it'll use electric motor more. tongue.gif

48km/h..... No wonder Honda dare to boast can get 50km/l.....
Driving such speed in single lane trunk roads, it is generating more carbon as every car cannot overtake it. So, is Insight is a green car? Yes, if no other cars in the road. If got others car in the road, Insight is worst than a lorry that never serviced after 10 years and using pre Euro 2 standard fuel.
Overall, Insight is not an enviroment friendly car, it is a enviroment harmful car and conveying bad attitudes to other road users.

48km/h is petrol engine off wor. if 80km/h, it'll use both electric and petrol engine.

So if you say that Insight is not environment friendly just based on that statement, I believe you're just trolling here to bash
Honda Insight. If like that, you're not welcome here. This thread is for fans and owner.

@kyheng would really appreciate it if u stick to your Inspira Thread. You're way off topic, read the Thread title please. You're also welcome to create a hybrid bashing thread to voice your opinion.

IMO generally, computer can be smarter than you and me. FYI Some newer cruise control technology (not insight) are capable of adjusting the cruising speed to various incline inorder to get the best fuel consumption.

*
i don't really think that the prius is stripped down
it still comes with 7 airbags, just like in other markets compared to the 2 in insight
the 15 inch rims are the standard alloys for prius, while the 16 inch is an optional upgrade
if budget allows, prius is a pretty good choice actually

Auto cruise can save more petrol automatically. So getting rid of auto cruise to me is like
losing another way of auto save petrol.

I only buy car with auto cruise. No auto cruise will get lower mark from me. Hehe
*
if on flat road then it saves
but if the road starts to climb, it is a different story
drove a civic on the NS highway, once reach the slopy part (which is quite common), then it's time to open the i-VTEC!!!

HONDA claim:
Maybe I can set it to 48 km/h (equivalent to 30 mph) and then hopefully it'll use electric motor more. tongue.gif
*
this makes me wonder, if we are on a downhill slope, do we need to brake the car to keep it below 48km/h to keep the engine off?
Or is the computer smart enough to detect that the engine load is very low and can still be shut off even if the speed exceed 48km/h?

IMO generally, computer can be smarter than you and me. FYI Some newer cruise control technology (not insight) are capable of adjusting the cruising speed to various incline inorder to get the best fuel consumption.

sorry bro, the cruise control will rev alot especially at hilly areas to maintain the speed not consumption, but it is good to have on flat roads such as highways. smile.gif

Sorry my bad, was referring to Active Cruise Control by BMW whereby it will adjust the speed based on the vehicle in front or surrounding (e.g. when it comes to a conner).

From what I have read, by turning on the ECO-assist on Insight, the cruise control will not rev as much and will not strictly trying keep to the cruising speed set in order to be more fuel efficient (much more or less like how human will react when it comes to hilly area and with fuel efficiency in mind).

Accessorise the interior of your Insight Hybrid with the Beta package,
comprising side step garnishes, trunk tray, foot light and sports pedal.

Sounds like very expensive for RM1.1k.

Ford TDCi dun have auto cruise. Sucks.

I also just tested the TDCI ( damn you Gogo!!) and it was a pretty sweet ride. Interior kinda sucks but the driving experience and ride comfort was pretty good. Now I kinda got my sights set at the petrol variant cos of the 0% interest rates and ESP (free maintenance for 3 years or 60k km) but will wanna test that first.

lol...Ford is damn good car maker but Malaysian dun appreciate. I think Ford Focus is best seller in Britain.

Anyway, you can get a lot of discount for Sedan TDCi. With 0% interest, petrol variant is kinda cheap.

well, if u buying car now, I'm not sure u can until 2014..lol

Also, the Ford Focus have blower aircond for behind passenger. Many gadget like wiper sensor, auto dim mirror,
auto headlight sensor, power window using remote control and a lot more gadget.

Further more, it is using turbo diesel engine coupled with wet dual clutch 6 gear powershift.

The combination of this make the car awesome to drive.

Also from http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/all-new...ocus-2011-01-14

Top gear said the old Ford which we're talking now is actually better in handling compare to new Ford. tongue.gif

Many + feedback from all of you. Congratz who will get the car. rclxms.gif

SteadyPana,
Maybe we can list pre-owner of Insight at 1st page. Easy to see how many that already book the insight. icon_idea.gif

Custom fitted and side sewed car coil mat... Hehe... Can refer my thread... Insight promoted, but seems no ppl getting car yet all didn't bother my invitation for bulk.

Forte club previously did a bulk with another guy... But at higher price than me... So I thinking if newer Forte owner wink.gif

I also have those Mugen Sports Pedal...

Other than that, those who keen in protecting their paintjob in the best way, I got special offer for Ultra Glass Coating Neo.

For those who favored 3M Crystalline, I also got special offer.

2ppl (around 60kg per person)test drive from juru toll until simpang empat and turning back to show room. speed average 110-130 with eco mode-on, sound proof almost same lik toyota camry,  flex.gif  original sound system... soso lo. cruise control help to power up and save fuel alot.
total driving 1hours+.

Big roundabout turning at speed 80-90 at permatang pauh... VSA work!! icon_rolleyes.gif "pls try at ur own risk.. hahaha"
uphill testing at permatang pauh also, hmm feel lik city jer... compare to camry 2.4... den diff a lot.. haha sweat.gif

gonna test driver with 4ppl again in saturday smile.gif
