Test drove the insight today. The verdict is solely according to my style of driving. I own both '08 City and the current one.

- Feels like something in between those City's. CVT is better. Power is there. I feel its accelerates faster than current city.

- Power is adequate if you know how to play with the throttle to get the most out of the CVT. I drove CVT city for nearly three years.

- Even with spirited driving the fuel consumption meter showed 11.xkm/L. And the car only clocked less than 300km. I'd say this is very very good considering the engine is not run in yet.

- Reached 140km/h with ease. I think the car is good enough for highway cruising.

- Handling is good. Though body roll is there around the same level as the city. Maybe due to wider tyres, the car seems much more precise and grippy during cornering.

- Interior is great as with almost all of Honda cars. Though I'd have to agree that the headroom is a bit lacking.

- Rear seats are a bit hard same as most recent honda cars e.g City and CR-V.

- Cockpit is hightech and fancy. Feels like playing a computer game. More buttons than usual. Might be a bit distracting at first when you don't know which information you want to be displayed.

- I'd say it is a bit quieter than the current city.

- Good sound system.

- Comes with Bridgestone Turanza tyres. IINM a good enough tyre.

- 16" rims that looks a lot better than Prius'

- Made in Japan

Downside

- Long waiting period. I've been told 4-5 months

- ECON mode is limiting. I reckon most would turn this off unless you are in a heavy traffic jam.

I didn't find anything weird when driving. And i didn't take a look at the maintenance cost etc. Just driving experience. And I admit I am a bit biased towards honda.

I would recommend the car for a small family, those who drives through traffic jams everyday.

And in summary, I never thought I would like this insight as I do now.

I'm surprised you accepted the car anyway. You have every right to reject the car.

And Honda policy now is, customer need to fetch their cars themselves from the dealer. This is to ensure that the customer receive the car in almost new condition.

My CR-V only clocked 6km when I get it. This should be the practice for all car dealers today.

In my case, the SA just refused to use the car even when we told him it was OK to send the car to our home.

He said that it's against the policy cause they want to protect the customer in any way they can. That's reassuring.

QUOTE(watonk @ Feb 19 2011, 07:43 PM)
To be detail:
- Futuristic dashboard with lots of button to push. Nice meter clusters with lots of information, i have to stop to read everything.
- Pickup better with tree button off after 4k rpm-vtec kicks in (a bit better than Altis 1.8). Engine noise acceptable.
- Silent when stationary (engine auto-off). Only mild blower sound.
- Engine restart was seamless when resume driving.
- Braking felt a bit awkward (does this car equipped with regenerative braking?)
- Steering also awkward (not really use to EPS)
- Nice eco colour on the meter cluster. Changes between green and blue according to your driving style(eco=green)
- 98k on the road. 96+++k with NCD 55% (if trade in my car)
- Free tint, full tank, visor and honda gifts.
- Ride & handling just like City.
- Maximum 50km/liter (on meter).
- Information from SA, full tank up to 900km, top speed 170++kmh
*
Just some correction for the bolded items

- The engine never auto off itself. I think the proper term for this is the engine is on standby. If the engine is turned off, it would need another ignition to start.
- I think this is very subjective depending on how light your foot is. But the more precise figure is around 1100km. The fuel consumption meter shows 50km/l and ideally with 42 liters of fuel, that can go up to 2000km. But let's be realistic, I'd put the figure somewhere around 30km/L and that equals to 1200km. YMMV.

As for the handling, I think the Insight is slightly better due to its 16" and wider tyres.
