My PS3 slim just ylod-ed for the 3rd time...

Just want to share:
My PS3, a phat 40GB CECHH06, YLOD-ed (first time after 5 years of service) on 23rd Jan 2012 while playing multiplayer Battle Field 3. Fluxed (Kester No-Clean #951) and reflowed (400 °C) the board on 31st Jan 2012.
Backed up and hoping it doesn't happen again (at least 2 - 3 years ). Tried Battle Field 3 for 2 hours just now with no problem.

P/s: To those who reflowed their PS3, did you guys flux the board before reflowing? And, btw, my PS3 inside wasn't clogged up with dirt.

yours consider lucky,some people play multyplayer bf3 until gpu dead


FYI,its the same before reflow or after reflow . and what flux ure using ? if brown flux please dont use that will dirty your gpu die faster.

My ps3 spoil coz of playing mass effect 2 tat time, SOMEMORE tat time weather was very hot as well my room.

Yes my ps3 can play non stop either, but the fan is super load and i thought my machine started to have problem

Wat i think is not the heat release efficiently, is the slim generate lesser heat then fat.. Tat is also why the fan is not tat fast to release the heat

Now i can vote for this pool as my ps3 start the same problem 3 days ago... and if Sony keep blaming the customer for the faulty of their product, i think Sony's die hard fan will sooner or later switch to other console...

Btw, just refluxed and reflowed a launch 60GB model. So far, so good.

My 80GB ps3 is officially going nuts.

Tried playing FFXIII-2 today, and about 30minutes into the game my PS3 just shut downs with 3 beeps, and blinking red light. No yellow light.

I tried loading back the game, and each time I reload from my save file and the game begins, my PS3 dies. No problems in the start screen whatsoever though.

But when I tried other games for more than an hour like FFXIII, Batman:AA, GOW3, Uncharted 3; my PS3 is fine.. But the shutting down also rarely happens when I play Battlefield 3 (PSN version).

Whaz happening eh?

Could be a sign of YLOD. Let your console cools down. And then back up your data.

p/s: There is a yellow light, it only comes out probably less than 1 sec.

This sucks.. Thing is, It only happens when I load up Final Fantasy XIII-2..and I just only bought the damn game on Monday.

How long have you gotten your PS3? Besides, just do backup first, then when YLOD comes, have someone to reflow it for you. There are tons of people offering this service in the Games Sales section.

I having the same problem as well ~ I play my new buy FF13-2 just only play 3 days then my Fat 80gb PS3 starting the same matter likes yours, I play ff half way suddenly shut off and the blink come off then restart again is the start screen is not problem ~ !!! this is sucks ~!!! anybody know what happen ???? is ff13-2 run very fast inside there ? pls advice thanks .

but still compare to other console, ps3 durability is better, i heard a lot rumours said tat xbox360 spoil easily than ps3, tat is y nobody cares about ps3, because they think ps3 is good enugh compare to xbox360

i not sure bro, but my suggestion is, IF, like i said IF ur PS3 FAT still working well now, plz sell it out now and get a slim ps3.

I think FFXIII-2 used a lot of the graphic performance and cause more heat and more easily shut down...

yes exactly u can bring to someone to reflux or reflow or reballing, but my suggestion is get a new 1...

like i mention b4, i think ffxiii-2 consume a lot graphic performance and cause more heat tat will make the ps3 shut down easily, like using a computer, when ur computer too hot, it will automatically shut down...

So you guys reckon it's better to buy a new Slim one for RM9xx or relow repair my phat one for RM200?

The thing is I'm not gonna use the machine that often as I'm going overseas, so if I buy a new Slim I wont be using it actively...

My phat bought in Dec 08, played intensively from Dec 08 till Dec 10, then slowly stop playing alot liao....

Repair it for back up purposes. Get new one is better.

After reading through this issue, I dont dare buy ps3 Wanna play ffxiii 1 & 2

My 3.5 year old phat PS3 also start showing signs

I stopped playing FFXIII-2 half an hour for dinner and then when I turn on my PS3 again, PS3 shuts down by itself after loading the FFXIII-2 save file.
Guess its time to get a new one...hope still can find a blue or red PS3 in Penang...

slim set no need to worry different chipset between phat unit;can play last long 3-4 years without service ,but still better at least service 1 year once lifespan longer .

My phat lasted 5 years. I'm hoping slim lasts longer...
