I do really wanna see a prolific striker like Pacheco partnering Suarez , Ngog & Carroll.
Pacheco if given the space , time & game , he could prove himself.

watch a match or not, as long as the heart is still red, why not? unless you dont follow even a small bit of the club's news for example latest scores...

again, what makes a true red? own jerseys and watch matches and sing songs?

John Henry did said in a press conf a while back that they are looking a way to stay at anfield. they done the same with red sox fenway park so if they can expand anfield section by section (like the manc did) then I think most fans would be delighted. nothing wrong with building a new stadium but i guess majority of reds prefer to stay at renovated anfield.

Unlike OT which has plenty of spaces ard it to expand the capacity, Anfield doesn't have the same luxury considering its surrounded by houses. Even if those designers manage to expand it somehow within the stadium, doubt it'll goes up to 55k.
As far as attendance goes, somewhere ard 65k will be optimum but just cant imagine how they'll manage to squeeze in 20k into existing structure.
I believe even if 70k capacity, they'll be no prob filling it, well at least European & BPL matches, problem is to expand Anfield, there're limited space to do that & maybe not cost effective while on the other hand, if move to new location, there's sentimental/history/nostalgia reasons to leave behind. It's a dilemma for all Reds

Build a double storey stadium?  rclxms.gif

I reckon the reason of why proposal opt for new stadium is that expanding existing stadium may not cost effective than totally new one, after taking all the consideration cost.

But remain at the old stadium has a lot of sentiment issue as well.

No matter how, whether expanding or new stadium, either one must be carried out in near future.
To compete at top level, you need financial power. It is pre-requisite in today football.
*
Yes I believe that to expand existing structure is more expensive than to built new one, price/sq ft wise.
One way or another, its about time for more capacity stadium, Anfield or new if we wanna catch up to the big guns & enable us to compete. Else we'll be left behind further & further...year by year

Ah best not to get into another "real fan" discussion. Like it or not, we do judge one another. I bet you've heard colleagues going, "I'm better than him, how come he earns to much more?", "fella does nothing and he can drive BMW ah?!!?". It is the same with fans sadly. It is like I said much earlier on another post, it is your choice if you want to say you support the club but watch maybe only 10% of games, and not bother about club information, past or present. Do not however then insist that you are as ardent a fan as someone who watches every game he can and reads any book he can get his hands on to. Instead, look up to him. I always remember a phrase that a Liverpool fan once used, "I'm not just a fan of LFC, I'm a fan of Liverpool fans". I completely understand what it means. Remember the half-time rendition of YNWA at Istanbul? Remember how the red half of Merseyside stood by the side of their blue counterparts after Rhys Jones was killed? Remember how the whole of Anfield applauded Barcelona after they beat us 3-1 at Anfield? Xavi does (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/xavi-anfield-blew-me-away).

I personally think it's stupid to go up against a fellow red of the calibre I described above and claim that I am just as big a fan as he is.

I do believe however that we can learn to respect the club's traditions and history. Sure, none of us were at Hillsborough but it doesn't mean we cannot come to empathise with those closer to the tragedy. When I attend a funeral, do I need to know the deceased to feel sorry for the family? I don't have to taste crap to know it tastes bad.

In summary, I believe that fans have a duty to help one another, and not talk down to another. If you meet someone who knows more, learn from him. If you meet someone who knows less, enlighten him, unless he doesn't want to be enlightened.

Anfield is filled with so much history, it would be a shame to have to move. I've not seen blueprints or anything and hence like you, I've no idea how they plan to squeeze in another 20,000 seats or so. The streets around the stadium are already so narrow, I could spit on one of the houses from Anfield.

Great pictures. I just hope KD will give the young guns some play time tonight, esp Conor Coady, I would love to see how he plays.

It's been a while since I watched Arsenal game. I did manage to catch up the CL game of Arsenal vs Barcelona this morning.

Seeing how much Arsenal has changed (with the exception of AW), it reminds me that football is an ever-changing game. A young team that AW assembled that able to trouble Barcelona plus a bigger and better Emirates stadium. It makes you wonder what Arsenal has been planning for the past decade.

Look back at us, we're just beginning our transition period. At least now with NESV, we dare to dream great things. Better and greater times are ahead of us. smile.gif (Never mind if I'm 40 by then)

I agree that we need to learn & respect the club's tradition & history. That is what separated Liverpool from others. Every clubs have their own histories, which is why we need to know them in order to have a better understanding of the club. Kinda sad nowadays more fans like to read transfer gossip than the 'unimportant' history of the club shakehead.gif

If there's no way to expand Anfield, then a move to new stadium, though with heavy heart, is a must for us to compete. We knew that to bring in 70k+ attendance can generate income for the club, else we're lagging in term of revenue which in turn hampering our ability to compete.

Still prefer them to expand though since as u said, its place where Reds share their happiness & sadness

i dont think we could fill up 70k+ seater except for the manc and derby games.. and some CL game. another 10k+ seater to add with current 45k would be enough i think. if FSG are willing to pay premium for the houses around anfield why not. it's kinda impossible and costly thing to do.. a new ground would easier and cheaper. either way it's a win win..

the lineup for EC tonight is full of young-uns. how nice. i hope we can get a couple of goals early so the kids can play.

70k+ seater stadium is better than 60k+ rite??..wether we can fill it to the brim or not, thats not the point...i bet if we were successful, those 70k seat will be fill up in no time...and another advantage is,we dont need to think how to expand the stadium capacity again for the next 30 years!

the problem with a big stadium is the cost of the maintenance. it will be a waste if we can't fill the stadium.

I would say near 55-60K seat stadium is optimum capacity.

if u want to expand it further 20 years in future..i think the cost would be much bigger than the maintenance..with all those inflation rate, rising material cost etc

juz think why Tun M build KLIA 10 years ago..not 10 years from now..and u'll get the picture rolleyes.gif

There are other considerations when increasing capacity dramatically.

i) Access - As I remember it, there is hardly any and most commute via public transport and walk, like I did. The traffic leading in and out of Anfield is chock-a-block due to the narrow access roads. Parking is virtually non-existent.
ii) Toilets - A bunch of large, beered up English men can churn up a lot of pee.
iii) Not enough F&B outlets - As it is people actually bother queueing up outside of bars like the Albert or Arkles after games just to get in a pint or two. With 30% more fans? O_o
iv) The merchandise store will be raped after games and Anfield will need a much larger one.

I'll watch whenever i can, even under roy. I cant always catch the latest games, look at the line ups, all the current palyers names & probably dont have easy access to the net like some of you.

The thing is i dont have the luxury of astro at home nor the freedom to sit back for weekend games, my work & other commitments runs 24/7.

so even when we played like crap under *roy (hey even agger use the exact term on how lfc played)
when i have the opportunity i would at bars/mamak.

I can quite understand some older guys who may have lapse their following on LFc under dark days.
(you see the older guys have married life, juggle work, children, run a business, balance financial health of a company, worry about salaries). I know they can only lightly follow. so dont be too hard on some of them who got their interest back again after years in adulthood wilderness.

we need liverpool fans, liverpool fc needs fans to support. which i why i do avocate purchasing lfc 'original' replica merchandise, if budget permits.

*back off those so called critics, who thinks we not been fair on roy.

well said Duke... as much as i miss more games in the past year due to many reasons, i try my best to get hold of latest results and news whenever i am able to, even updating fellow reds with results as i get them

to those who are wandering but deep inside you are still red, do remember you are not alone. we are human after all. everyone deals with this 'less glorious' times differently. just dont wander too far, for too long...

i've visited Anfield once. yeah, just like u said, too close to the housing area. same as Emirates too.
so u're angry while admitting u're a glory hunter? quite childish i might say. it's a like a kid suddenly interfere in a mature discussion. I know u're upset since Liverpool not having their best  season lately. Even MU also faced the same thing before during Arsenal and Chelsea era. yes, it might not much compared to how many years have been since Liverpool last won the EPL crown but in the mean time, they did won the UCL, Uefa cup, FA cup and etc. And during their darkest hour, u left Liverpool but came back when they won UCL. u should be ashamed of yourself. calling yourself a Liverpool fan when u leave Liverpool only to return when they won something. U just don't have the faith to be Liverpool supporter. u just don't have the guts to be one. u should learn from fellow Liverpool fans here which i really respect them big time. they stood by Liverpool for like God knows how long. they endure the torment not only from rival fans but also from Liverpool own fans. they protect this club crest and motto. they're also upset when Liverpool lose, when the best player leaves but they still have faith that there are brighter day ahead for this club.

I'm still with MU even though they have their downturn. i never leave them. i still watch their matches even though they lost the match. it surely dissapointing and hurt but that's football. win or lose is what football all about. one thing for sure, i enjoy football.

it is u who should get a life. why don't u quit embarrasing yourself and just support Liverpool, have faith in them whether they lose or win. stand by your club. if u cannot do that, go watch poker game.
*
I already said i have no time to argue with u.WHy dont u just fffing get the f outta liverpool forum?go and contribute to united forum u classless manc.
