Forget endgadget's superficial review. Anandtech's the one you want to read. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4144/lg-opti...core-smartphone
I have mixed view on this phone. While I'm happy that tegra2 isn't a too big jump from hummingbird, it certainly has an edge in gaming. For my needs, looks like galaxy s won't be outdated for at least another 6 months |

QUOTE(roci @ Feb 8 2011, 02:52 PM) Speedmod k13A is out n i already flash it. But the thing is i was on k12u with 340mb ram.. but after flash to k13A, now my ram become 338MB? where did it go for another 2MB? i already try to flash with the recomended mode by HC using Odin.. still got the same result. Using CWM also have the same result.,. ahh.. any of u encounter the same problem as me? My speculation only. But buy any phone that you want, if you wait, wait, wait, you'll never buy one Added on February 8, 2011, 5:24 pm for another 6 month? okay.. october buy motorola atrix. lets I hope I don't have to buy a new smartphone. galaxy s should last a good few years. The fact that our current galaxy s is smooth enough (for my needs), I expect the next gen phone to be better in performance than a netbook, or match a common laptop! Tegra2 phones are definitely for those who are looking forward to 3d games. |

QUOTE(erymanthus @ Feb 9 2011, 07:11 AM) Hi sifus, Want to add. Both gmail and gtalk are push services.Need some advice here. I have been playing around a lot with flashing ROMs, Themes, Kernels etc but have no experience in setting up email account. 1) If I want to enable my Gmail to push in emails to my SGS, how do I do that? Need to install any extra apps? 2) In order for it to work, must my 3G data be always on? That means if I use APN On/Off to switch off data, then the email will not be pushed in? Thanks QUOTE(michaelnct @ Feb 9 2011, 08:27 AM) Dear All, - True, updating 2.2.1 will lessen the lag.I am on Froyo 2.2 now and still feel the SGS laggy here and there. Is there any alternative solution to overcome this problem without flashing to 3rd party ROM? Thanks - Try OCLF - flash speedmod or super-optimized kernel QUOTE(Star_knight79 @ Feb 9 2011, 10:51 AM) I find that I more ok/used to the original Samsung theme. The color scheme is nice. Do u guys think it's available somewhere in this world? Should appear without market enabler right? I never had missing paid app in both insanity and doc'sBy the way, sifu taught me about root explorer. I can't find it in the market. Can I usw EZ explorer? I download Diopen Chinese Input. Need to be placed at system folder. Can't find it, anybody know where is it? (I'm on Darky ROM 9.2.) |

QUOTE(neo0915 @ Feb 9 2011, 02:19 PM) Hi sifus, Yes, easiest is by syncing with google. Create a google account, login with your phone, and your contacts will be synced with google's server. Wanna ask a question. Is it possible to sync my contact's birthday to calendar and set reminder ? All my contacts are sent from my previous phone via bluetooth. The contact already have all the information including birthday, but calendar dun hav. Is there any possible to link it ? If you look at Settings > Accounts and Sync > Manage Accounts, you can sync gmail,, calendar, contacts and picasa |

QUOTE(azzurious_rs @ Feb 9 2011, 06:14 PM) thanx..on speedmod, is it better to convert to ext4 or just stay with the rfs? any difference if convert to ext4? ext4 has faster data read/write, but almost no observable difference in smoothness against RFS. If you have an app that uses a lot of database like newsrob, you'll see a lot of difference in the speed. But the smoothness will be the same.I think I read hardcore said about optimizations he made to ext4 that it uses less battery because of fewer data write. (less data write --> less work --> less battery consumption). If this is true, there's no reason to stay with RFS anymore. Thoughts? Added on February 9, 2011, 8:52 pm QUOTE(CrossX @ Feb 9 2011, 05:04 PM) i remember the app "spare part" has an option to set the autokiller to aggressive too... no need for another app if u have that preinstalled with the custom ROM Yup, forgot about spare parts. Only that Autokiller has a few more options on the profile. This post has been edited by gmhafiz: Feb 9 2011, 08:52 PM |

QUOTE(mstr583 @ Feb 9 2011, 06:24 PM) Guys, actually what is Cyanogenmod??? After read thru i still not understand what is it... It is a an extremely popular whole ROM replacement, made by cyanogen and the team. It is available now for a lot of different phones. It is a ROM or a kernal?? What made it special is that they made the android ROM wholly from open source software called AOSP (android open source project). This means, the rom is 100% android, no touchwiz, sense, blur component at all. It is popular because it is extremely configurable. With frequent update, you can get the latest android like android 2.3 gingerbread rather quickly rather than waiting for samsung to release an update. There's still alot of work to be done to make the rom compatible with galaxy s. So please don't flash it if you don't know how to find and fix the bugs. |

QUOTE(Star_knight79 @ Feb 9 2011, 11:15 PM) Dear sifus, how to enable notification light (is there such a function?) for incoming sms or missed call? No led in galaxy s. But you have two optionsCan this be done?? 1. Use BLN(backlight notification) control download one from the market. it'll use the menu and back button backlight https://market.android.com/details?id=nelda...ln.control.free 2. install NoLed, this will use the main screen for notifications. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.led.notify |

No Light at the back / menu button. Included in speedmod & super-optimized kernel. in which major rom such as doc's and darkyy hasThanks for your recommendation. To activate, you either need to go to recovery mode or just download BLN control from market. |

QUOTE(Jason @ Feb 10 2011, 03:14 PM) ok something weird happened. i left my SGS on the table and it suddenly rebooted itself (like the phone just booted up) but it didn't ask me for SIM PIN. couldn't be rom related. kernel panic is more likely the problem. or some rouge app?everything rebooted, scanning media etc. stock JPE+speedmod k13a |

QUOTE(Jason @ Feb 10 2011, 03:29 PM) i don't have many apps running.. background ones the best way to find out is to have logcat sent to an expert. since hardcore disabled logcat logging, you'll need to enable in recovery mode first. once your phone reboots by itself, save the current log. can use app like alogcat https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcatlauncherpro whatapp pingchat gmail doubletwist stockwatcher batteryindicator switchpro I had a strange mmi code popping up, I used alogcat to find out what's wrong. p/s using SO kernel, I also had sudden rebooting when I did OC/UV. |
