I have the same thinking as you. I don't bother ppl saying apps launcher or proper OS (as good as to be heard)
Google never does its job properly in writing the code for its Android System (that could be the reason they stop selling Nexus as they really don't know how to handle it). I have read in the web before. Some developers complaining that they lauched the Android system (froyo) with a lots of bugs.
They leave the fixing part to the developer or the manufacturer software engineers to fix the problems, in which I think Samsung Engineers are a bit slow poke!
Yes, I must admit that Google has a lot of fresh ideas with they OS. But what's the point if the ideas are full of bug and laggy. I don't about others, but I will definitely feel upset.
No point boosting about Android is an OS by itself and can do this can do that...blah blah blah, and in the end of the day, it give me headache with lag issue.
The success of iphone 4 is not just merely they are able to make the phone the TREND as I don't see SGS lose out in the sleeky and trendy design/ outlook of their phone. In fact, there are more. Even iphone 4 is an apps launcher, but the silky smooth of the apps running(even with very low available memory) as well as the quality of them (apps) is just astonishing!
For android supporters, please don't get too upset with my post here. I just wanna share my thought here only. I'm still holding an SGS, ok?
As an Android user, I really hope Google would have done better. If they happen to make their own phone and start selling again. I definitely won't buy. The company is a bit unreliable for mobile phone business. Let them do their software part well.
*
The reason why iPhone4 is smooth is because of its closed system, have you seen an heavily modified jailbroken iphone? It does lag and hangs as well.

But i do admit there's bug in android's release, but so does iOS. Nothing is flawless in this world

But CrossX, do you have photo and video editor?

I'm lazy to flash again. Can you help to extract the Samsung Original booanimation for me plzzzzz? I love it.
By the way, what is your diopen version (Check the date...from menu>about I think)?
*
No point ranting all over my dear forumer friends (i mean those still caught up in android vs Iphone war), each phone has its pro and cons, so next time do some homework b4 choosing a phone and dont regret getting one which is "flawed" since its ur job to do some research.
Trends are not just about appearance, its about a movement, if there's 10 person in a group and 8 of them are using iphone4, the 8 would normally affect the other 2's decision in a phone to get. Besides, apple put a lot of effort in advertising it making it looks like a phone everybody would go for which it is true. If u observe, iphone users are just basic users, android is flawed badly but if utilized well, its a great phone.
Think of it this way, iphone is a trend, ppl should go for it, but android is for art lovers, they take their android seriously, modding it and playing it in their own special way and they love it.
Personally i would go for pad if its for tablet coz galaxy tab is not as attractive, but for a phone i will still got for SGS hahaha

not sure which version just got it online instead since i dunno how to extract it...
photo and video editior? nope i'm not using any coz i rarely use those stuffs, all i do it watch videos (dramas tongue.gif) and play games on my SGS

would really like to see a heavily modded jailbroken iphone XD

yes, there's no such thing as a perfect phone, the perfect phone is in the eyes of a person who doesnt mind the flaws of a flawed phone... XD

I've not had much lag since using 2.2.1 on my SGS, even on stock ROM with default stock kernel. Are you referring to 2.1 and 2.2 on the SGS? so far my only headache about the SGS is its poor battery life. A buddy of mine has ordered a 3000mAh batt for her phone - I am thinking about doing the same. My phone is more than just a phone, so I need all the extra juice I can get.

Well, I wouldn't quite say that iOS is perfectly smooth all the time. I do notice some slight lag on the iPad (probably since RAM is only 256MB compared to iPhone4's 512MB). And the OS has hung on me a few times. Very simple and speedy OS UI, though, I have to admit, but very limiting to a tech freak like me although I can see the appeal of iOS for normal smartphone users - speedy, trouble-free most of the time, lots of good apps and games to buy and install..

Ha ha, no harm no foul, it's always refreshing to hear other people's POVs especially when nicely expressed. I'm actually quite sad to see the state of Android phones now. I mean, new dualcore phones are being released with non-multicore-aware versions of Android when Google supposedly has Gingerbread 2.4 ready with GPU-driven UI components and multicore support.. What the hell??

Been Looking this great Android Phone and might want to try it out. Few question on my mind:

1- This phone really suffer lagging issues?
2- Also heard the battery drained out quite fast. General using / Entertainment like gaming etc?
3- Most of u guys using the custom FW instead of stock? Recommended?
4- How bout the updates? Support OTA for apps and firmware itself?
5- Last but not least. How's the rated compare to iOS? Currently only have iPodTouch 4G as my Portable Browser and Gaming.

Appreciate some feedback in details. Sorry for the troubles as im quite interested to know more bout the Android. Long journey with Symbian and might take another ride maybe biggrin.gif

1. With official SEA 2.2 firmware, yes. With current EUR 2.2.1 firmware, no.
2. 1500mAh seems not enough for this phone. With 24x7 data connectivity enabled, I get only 12-16 hours max on 1 full charge.
3. Custom ROM here. Smoother, speedier and nicer.
4. Apps are updated OTA (using Android Market). Firmwares not OTA.
5. Compare which aspects to iOS? For me, web browsing (Android > iOS) and gaming (iOS > Android).

i dont think SGS II will come cheap. it'll be around 3k when it's launched.

This means that you can enjoy SGS for atleast another year before our local AP and telcos bring the SGS II in, in which, i think, the RRP will be around SGS..2.6k.

I just bought for my friend a SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE:

-3.5" screen,hvga resolution,no super amoled
-ram 278mb (on fresh startup only use 133mb)
-internal memory 150mb, comes with 2gb micro sd
-5mp camera,with flash
-no 2ndary camera
-processor 800mhz

But what surprise me is the price - only cost about rm990 sweat.gif
When i help him setting it,i feel like i'm using my galaxy s...really smooth...
And again, the interface is really smooth, no wonder i can call it 'samsung galaxy s mini' biggrin.gif

Just want to share with you guys. smile.gif

Edit:bought it yesterday(before MWC2011 starts), and to my surprise also, after seeing galaxy s II in internet, the battery cover for galaxy ace and galaxy s II are actually same - rough texture smile.gif
