newbieee, there's nothin wrong to use the centre focal point IF your subject is at some distance away. But if your subject is less than 1m away, using the middle to lock focus and then recompose, your focal will shift  and then your focus point will not be at where you want it to be.

mean when you focus to one subject, actually the focus is on one plane (assume 1 metre from your sensor) , but when you recompose, your sensor is moving d, and thus, you might not get 1m any more.. then you'll have out of focus.. smile.gif

This is the part that's broken when I dropped my flash plus my A100 on the ground. My A100 survived but the flash shoe was not so lucky.

haha...try it out yourself..at your home...

like this:

1) stand few metres away from your subject..use middle to lock focus, then recompose...see that outcome...

2) stand approx 1m or less from your object, use middle to lock focus, then recompose...see that outcome...

u will notice something different..as i said, explore by experimenting...as i always do..rather than learning theory...

I think what he means is that he does not know how to lock focus. To lock focus, press your shutter half down till your focal point turns green. Then recompose your picture and then snap. Your focal point will be at that part but you must make sure not to step forwards or backwards after your lock focus as this will alter your focal point.

in that case, i add some words to your statement..

To lock focus, press your shutter half down till your focal point turns green and hold the shutter to remain in focus. Then recompose your picture and then snap.

don't look like it can fit the alpha regular mount due to the flange distance.... but it is damn handy and cool. the cool factor is definitely there. hahaha....
