QUOTE(FrozenRay @ Feb 8 2011, 11:36 PM) Guy, Hi FrozenRay, here are the pros and cons of each lens (which I could think of)I wanted to buy a walkaround prime lens. not sure which one to choose from the below 2 lenses: 1) Sony DT 35mm F/1.8 review ( = 52.5mm in A580?) 2) Minolta AF 24mm F2.8 Which one more suitable? Any one has experience with this 2 lenses? Sony 35mm f1.8 Pros Light weight Cheap (price) New 35mm = 52.5mm in APS-C (50mm is the normal focal length of our eyes, so it might seem more natural) its f1.8! cons Build feels cheap (plastic) DT lens. When used in FF it will vignette (or the FF sensor will be tuned down to APS-C to accomodate the lens) not sure sry Minolta 24mm f2.8 Pros Built like a tank (metal mount) might be hard to find a good copy (not so sure abt this lol) Minolta colours! (saturated and vibrant!) A bit wider than the 35mm f1.8 FF compatible Cons Old coating (might be prone to flare, like all minolta lens) heard that its not that sharp at 2.8 might have to stop down for it to reach its maximum sharpness. f2.8! I would pick the 35mm as it would also serve as a good portrait lens =) Added on February 8, 2011, 10:20 pm QUOTE(albnok @ Feb 8 2011, 07:41 PM) eddybeh: Not so much, just like we know what color things are, even under warm orange light, due to color constancy: Hey thanks albnok and cjlai! Thanks ieR , zstan, mikesashimi & 67zai
mikeshashimi : You'll need your UWA, the landscapes there are amazing! But the kit lens does a good job 67zai: its at Tasmania, beautiful place! Added on February 9, 2011, 9:18 am QUOTE(gjtan @ Feb 9 2011, 10:43 AM) Yeap, later if you found out the flash works but it has faulty hotshoe so it can't connect to your camera. Also if you find that if the flash can't sync properly with your camera shutter (ie. flashes after u press your shutter, resulting in underexposed pic, bring along an ink rubber and rub at the metal contacts of the hotshoe on your camera. Happened to me)Added on February 9, 2011, 9:19 am QUOTE(ieR @ Feb 9 2011, 02:35 AM) shukrie - very nice I love the silhouette!» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « smirk.... who say 50mm zoom cant use as landscape? QUOTE(death_nite @ Feb 9 2011, 02:42 PM) Ic ic. Erm, correct me if I'm wrong but i think your camera LCD has higher pixel density so your pics will be much more vibrant compared to your monitor. My pics all look damn chun on an Iphone. Hahaha! When I use my notebook to edit my pics, when I develop them into photos the results are not so pleasing as the colours will look damn fake as what I see in my uncalibrated monitor is not what it results in the photo. So now I have the uncanny habbit of never editing my pics as they usually fail miserably (and because I'm noob in photoshop this! how to calibrate my camera lcd to look exactly like lcd monitor/vice versa. my notebook lcd is the worst. look dull. like have grayish colour. but still pics u guys post so damn cun la. like so colourful. every colour shown perfectly. but in camera look so different. and and u guys use filter eh when shooting landscape photos? so cun la. the sky look blue the trees look green. the flowers look so great. For the colours, make sure your white balance is set correctly. Its is one of the most important aspects of photography which a lot of people will miss out. Once you know how to set white balance, you will notice that the colours of your photos will be much more vibrant. Another things is that you could use circular polarizing filter to make your skies look blue and increase contrast when shooting landscape pics under the sun. |

QUOTE(death_nite @ Feb 10 2011, 12:41 AM) hey. thanks! Both have different uses.guess hv to bear with it. and still hv to learn for WB. talking abt filter. i google abt Circular Polarizing filter and Neutral Density filter. now got confuse which one to use exactly. CPL filters block out certain wavelengths of light. They are the filters which makes sky deep blue and vivid and should be the ones you are looking for. Get 1 from a good brand or a thin 1 as cap ayam CPL are usually thicker and it will cause vignetting (corners become dark). ND filters function to block out light so you can use slow shutter speeds in broad daylight to achieve certain effects such as moving clouds, misty waterfalls, blury ppl etc etc =) Hope it helps =) |

QUOTE(tsunamiboy @ Feb 14 2011, 10:30 PM) for dslr and dslt camera for sony .if lets say goin to cold country around 3 o 7 degrees temperature will it effect the camera ? No it won't, I can personally guarantee that. The battery can stand up to subzero temperatures. You might encounter problems in Antarctica but not places which are 3-7 degrees =)8tvt: I have a pic with the same perspective as well! (pardon me for the lousy FB quality) ![]() Added on February 14, 2011, 9:12 pm QUOTE(drueki @ Feb 14 2011, 10:37 PM) Check whether it is new 1 (take a pic and check shutter count), check pop up flash, check hotshoe, check buttons, dials, take a pic with a memory card and view the memory card to make sure that its dust free and the sensor is clean. I think that's most of it, hope it helps! This post has been edited by yuhi: Feb 14 2011, 09:12 PM |

QUOTE(rling @ Feb 14 2011, 11:31 PM) Don't be influenced by what other people say, go with your own preference, do your own research so when you buy it you won't regret because it is you who made the choice. =)Added on February 14, 2011, 10:20 pm QUOTE(ieR @ Feb 14 2011, 11:37 PM) good luck with that, coz its world shortage now! sold till kosong. A33 everywhere la. it seem the world wont mind paying USD100 more for A55. so is malaysian paying rm400 more for A55~ that why sony now is skeptic to even push A560 into the market as people rather pay rm300 more for A580. Hope that Sony might think twice of making cameras with similar specs which are slightly cheaper. No point IMOThis post has been edited by yuhi: Feb 14 2011, 10:20 PM |

QUOTE(ieR @ Feb 15 2011, 12:02 AM) i hear there will be another one in kuching real soon Haha! I know well abt this since its Sony who puts rice in my bowls =) Just that its not from the dslr department Added on February 14, 2011, 10:35 pmevilhomura89: love the cactus! and good job with the lighting! yuhi : sony till now is experimenting with the market, they have their own factory for most part, so no need worry, unlike other company has to make decision 2-3 months in advance to confirm order for the parts from 3rd party manufacturer. sony anytime can turn and make TV instead if they wanted to, since sony Alpha is only mere 2% of their total sales monthly. seriously, they are selling 10 LCD TV to 1 alpha! |

QUOTE(Newbieeeeee @ Feb 15 2011, 02:27 PM) Why not? I'm using Keep. I'll rather spend rm50 for it just to protect the glass. i personally dont believe that using expensive filters will improve yr picture quality. Yes it does, I did use a cap ayam filter on my 50mm which resulted in a lot of unwanted flares I took it off and have been using it without a filter ever since. My friend also took off the fujiyama filter which came with her tammy 17-50 because it caused unwanted flares and replaced it with a hoya pro1D. You'll never know the difference until you experience it first hand.Cheapo filters are cheap because you get what for the price you pay. High end filters such as the B+W, hoya, marumi, zeiss etc. have multi layers of coating to eliminate flare and some even have coating to enable easier cleaning (i.e. B+W, that's why lots of people love them). For your kit lens, I think just a normal hoya filter will surfice as you could easily get a 2nd kit lens for the price you are paying for a high end filter. Some cheapo filters absorb or reflect light away from the lens so there will be some effect on picture quality as the transmission of light to the sensor will be reduced more compared to a high end filter. |

QUOTE(evilhomura89 @ Feb 15 2011, 04:03 PM) well it does for me Are you using a Skylight filter? They tend to warm the image up a little because they have a slight magenta tint to itcause the KEEP filter has a yellowish tint on it during night time, pictures tend to get warmer with filter on This post has been edited by yuhi: Feb 15 2011, 02:48 PM |
