True. True. I have been using MACS for the past 6 years and I have never need to worry about virus/trojan attacks on Macs. Unlike Windows, you will forever faced with such issues and many websites keep prompting you about virus attacks - really irritating. Use a MAC , never need to worry. That's one of the attractions of the MAC OS. It is not that the Mac is not susceptible to virus attacks ; there are now infact quite few anti-virus solutions for the MACs - for the " Just in Case" situation. The seemingly virus immunity by Macs is mainly due to its unpopularity with hackers and virus developers.

Apple i-devices apps are strictly controlled by Apple before allow to be placed in app store. ALL android apps do not go thro such stringent checks. Any Tom, d*** and Harry can just put an app in the Market. But last month Google announced steps will be taken to control and approve apps to be placed onto market due to the flourishing of poor and unreliable apps, which directly affects Android as a good alternative platform. As Android apps are open sourced it is more easily cracked/pirated - this could also account for the growing popularity of Android. However installing such apps is at one risk and one should be aware of the possible bad consequences.

I did download it from Reader's Hub but could only get Newspaper and Books to work. When I launch Zinio and submit my username and password, it logs in and hangs at the Tips PopUp. Then gives the awful Forced Close error (reminds me of windows Blue Screen of Death)

Maybe there is a registry file somewhere(if there is such a thing in Android) that I need to delete before I can reinstall?

Actually I have no idea ?? It works very well since my first day on stock roms to all the various cooked roms I have. It is a user friendly app with no additional input or settings required by user. Why don't you do a backup ; do a factory reset and try again without installing any other 3rd party apps. If it works could be some of your 3rd party apps issue - in this case you need to do a " Sherlock Holmes " study yourself and eliminate possible causes

Actually you will not miss use Zinio Reader. I find that reading magazines on a tablet is only a novelty. It is not practical. Infact it is very tiring to read a magazine on the tablet. Even my previous iPad with a bigger display 9.7" I find it bad ; it is even worse on the Tab with a smaller display.
It is good just to show off this feature to some of my not so literate smartphone friends.

See pics below. Cover of mag is magnificient. Go onto the contents . OMG - need to scroll up/down and left/right plus continual pinch n zoom as generally all mags fonts will be displayed small. Just imagine reading a whole mag on the tablet - reading few selected articles might be Ok but definitely not the whole mag. By the time you read a few pages, your fingers are tired and your eyes start to blur..

Best if your camera have a sd slot. Then u can get a micro sd plus a sd adapter to use in your camera then when u want to transfer your photo, put the microsd into the tab then u can transfer your photos directly to the tab.

I'm new here..I plan to get SGT soon.Now in the market have SGT AP set (more cheaper) from SGT Ori .Which is better (berbaloi) to buy and what is difference between AP set and Ori beside Warranty Volume.

Better get ori for such an expensive gadget, IMO

Btw guys, how do u charge your tab in the car? I've tried a usb car charger with 1000mA output. Doesn't look like it's charging. It says usb connected & the bat indicator shows the lightning symbol but doesn't move left right like its being charged. Do I need a more powerful charger (2A) or should I stick with samsung car charger?

Depend on quality of your USB car charger - a 1000mA can charge it ; that was what I used to use. Mine is a high quality unit I bought previously to charge the ipad - cost me S$85. Those cheaper types rm 30 to RM 60 type might have a problem as usually their ratings are often overstated. I also bought a 2100mA unit from a forumer AdamKing here ( he also has a Tab); contact him in Garage sales. Any good charger that can charge the ipad can similarly charge the TAB

Could be it. Mine costs even less (13 bucks) haha

Instructions scattered in the thread. Here is a short quick summary

Use Root Explorer : tap the RW box - browse to system/media
Paste the bootanimation.zip and replace the default file ( you can rename it just in case or keep a backup copy)
Right click the bootanimation.zip
Select permissions in the popup menu and set to
owner: read & write
group: read
other: read

Reboot Tab

Thanks, Benny for the backup method. Will try it out. I've been downloading The Star Newspaper from the reader hub and don't mind the zoom in and out. So will need to make Zinio work. When you are bored, anything goes.

By the way, just got my casing. Quite nice and thick enough to protect it. One problem though, its a few mm too thick to fit my work pants now. Sigh!

Added on March 3, 2011, 12:33 amMy SGT since yesterday also got problem, yesterday morning it auto shut down & I can't switch on it for nearly 1 hour. Then I found now the battery drain out very fast. It will suddenly drop from 30% to <15%.

Today when I charged it, it charged from 61% - 68% after almost 1 hour charging, after I unplugged & plugged the charger, it suddenly shown battery was charging up to 99%.

Is this due to software problem or hardware problem? I think it need to send back to Samsung service centre for checking.
