Rotohammer has just released his rom based on latest JMG firmware. Paul Modaco b4 is also based on JMG

Having tried his JME version, this is a worthy upgrade.

Some bugs with other roms I have tested:
- Modaco's beta 4 by Paul still has some small bugs ( the most obvious screen display timeout issue, refresh of app drawers in ADW is slow )
- Overcome 1.0.2 : has some issues with weather widgets - not working well sometimes

QUOTE : I've created this for folks who want a safe and easy to install firmware.
This firmware is for any NA, Euro or Asian GSM Tab. They don't contain and won't install protected bootloaders. ...UNQUOTE

Added on January 31, 2011, 11:07 amJust an update on the TAB's battery life. Very pleased with it

Yesterday I was on the road from 2 pm and did not use by TAB at all until 9 am this morning. That is about 20+ hours in standby mode - battery life left 42 %
However during this period the TAB is still online solely on 3G updating:

Emails - refresh and download 4 accounts ( Gmail, Yahoo, TM, 1 biz account ) every 15 minutes
Weather ( 2 apps Fancy Widgets and Palmary Weather Pro ) - every 4 hours
RSS Newsfeed/Tweets updates - every hour

I have yet to try Roto JMG. Just read about it. However Roto JME is very well known and is a lifesaver rom for many who "brick" their TAB during kernel or rom flashing. Roto rom doesn't comes with protected or will it install any protected bootloaders
Most reviews on his rom is positive. I have yet to find any serious bugs with his JME.

But one must know and accept there is no perfect rom including the official ones. Different rom cooks offer different flavor. It is up to the user to test himself to assess which of these alternative roms suits his needs better.

Each of us uses his TAB differently. Some wants the TAB to be a great gaming machine but for me is totally unimportant - if it cannot play games is fine. Some wants a great browser, email features while some thinks this is of secondary importance. Always remember , there will always be a better rom just round the corner and coming out the next day once you have install one. See your needs, read the users comments on the roms you are interested in and decide. Anyway flashing rom is not difficult, can always experiment to find which is best for you

Bootloader already patched but kernel still signed. I  can't flashed the kernel with ext4???

As you said Kernel still signed, of course while you flash with custom kernel will couse problem.
For safety, just apply the patch or unsigned the Bootloader. Then you able flash with any ROM or Kernel as you like.

well..

Portability

Obviously Gtab wins, it can actually fits in ur pocket. Thats hows i bring it around without any pouch or bags.
Unlike Ipad. i need to bring along a sling bag to fit it in.

The Gtab is definitely nicer to hold and type on. Ipad would be great too if u have Caucasian sized hands..

Gaming

Ipad for sure wins so far. Though most of the Gameloft games are coming/came to Android but Ipad always gets the best first. From Infinity Blade to the seasonal angry birds.

I played BIA2 on both device, Ipad somewhat gave me a smoother feel when maneuvering the on screen controls.

Bigger better screen sure is a plus for gaming..thus IPad wins. You hands get cramped after that..haha

Browsing

1 word : Flash
It makes a whole load different experience.

Other than those..its just Android VS IOS

Just flash with Overcome 1.0.2, everything seem smooth and like the custom animation, at least something difference with stock.
I don't use weather widgets, think this won't effect me.
BTW, have you try [1.2ghz OC/UV] Kernel?
What your experince if compare with MoDaCo r3 Kernel?
Found MoDaCo r3 Kernel occur little screen distortion while booting.

thats a wise choice. just keep both. haha..
best of both worlds. but i bet u will be bring out gtab more than ipad.

GUYS..

theres something i dont understand.
Ive watch those videos on youtube bout how tough the Gorilla glass is...
But in the end i still have a scratch on my gtab.
Its just in and out of my pocket daily.. no keys..no coins..nothing possible that could scratch it.
wtf right...

conclusion: even a Gorilla has its soft side.

i believe theres some elements that can scratch the gorilla glass which they havent figure out.
keys, hammer, pointy things..those are the things they tested on.

maybe temperature? sweat? grease? that weakens it?

maybe...maybe...

A leaked schedule from the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 released by SamsungHub – post which was later removed due to obvious reasons – appeared on the internet revealing the fact that Galaxy Tab 2 and Galaxy S 2 will be presented at the MWC in Barcelona on 13th February 2011.
There are no information regarding Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 but we hope it will feature an AMOLED display, Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb, dual core 1GHz processor ( NVIDIA Tegra 2 or Samsung ‘Orion’ mobile CPU), HDMI port and much more.

Extract the z4root zip file in computer ; you will see a apk file. Copy the apk to your tab ( either internal SD card or external micro SD ). Use the built in file manager or a 3rd party file manager ( example astro ) - locate the apk file and tap on it , it will autoinstall. After install locate the z4root app in menu and launch it

Depending on your TAB , some cannot be root with z4root , then use method 2 as described in my blog :
http://leemn.wordpress.com/2011/01/23/root...the-galaxy-tab/
Method 3 is only for those who knows about how to issue Linux commands from terminal and is most unlikely you need it

I'd strongly you read some basics on how to android usage before you tinker with your smartphone. Refer to my posts for guides in post 1 -4. It is obvious that the basics of file management you are not clear yet

Any firmware now can be flash. Since last week there is a patch to installed to check whether bootloaders are signed/protected. Using the patch you can release signed bootloaders and flash new firmware safely. Learn more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071

Since you are a new user, spend some days learning about your rom before considering flashing. Maybe you are happy with it and flashing might not be necessary
