I would just say unlock the Boatloader before you falsh any Kernel or ROM, unless you very sure those Kernel or ROM don't contain and won't install protected bootloaders either.
This is the important step you need to take into consideration after rooting.

Bootloader already patched but kernel still signed. I can't flashed the kernel with ext4???

No need to change to O/C kernel to improve performance . Just change to a EXT4 file system will improve it a lot :

http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-...ung-galaxy-tab/

You can refer to my blog HERE where I explained briefly why the need to change and steps to do it

I am still having errors trying to upgrade to EXT4 after many attempts. I can't seems to figure it whats is wrong.

You mean you just change the kernel to ext4 ( Modaco R3 ?? ) or you also converted the file system to EXT4 ??
Actually changing kernels and fs conversion to ext4  will not delete any apps/data
Can you describe what you actually did ? There could be a misstep you have done
What is Your original rom ? Please also advise what is now the firmware specs on your tab : Settings/About device - build number, Kernel version and baseband

Google for this file - plenty available in web : gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip
This file contains several default google apps . Unzip it, locate the market apk and try installed it
What other apps missing ?
*
I have only change the kernel from FS to ext4. When i was in recovery , the backup was performed twice and now I have two backup file in my CW. When i rebooted all the third party apps was missing and the original apps missing was the Market. When i reinstall the third part apps, it says overwrite existing apps but there's nothing on the screen. Strange? Anyway i reinstalll all the third part apps but i am quite sure the old apps files is still residing somewhere in the Internal SD.

This is my specs. GT-P1000, Firmware 2.2, Baseband P1000DXJM2,Kernel 2.6.32.9 paul@PAUL-OBrien-iMac-#55, Build Number FROYO DXJM4

Looks like your internal SD is wipe clean. You can easily verify this - just use MyFiles - did you see the internal sd card ? When this happen, you will not see the ext micro SD card too
So go to recovery and restore the backup rom data
If by restore the internal SD card is missing :
-  you have to reflash your rom with repartition, PIT and PDA using Odin. Then only change kernel. You will lose all your data when ou flash a new rom. I suggest you use rotohammer JMI
*
everything is still there and i can see the internal and also external sd? looks like the internal sd was not wipe clean...strange?

Yes..you need to be in download mode for downloading of tar file into the tab..after that the light in ODIN will turn green.

Follow this guide...http://www.wowtechy.com/stepbystepguide-install-custom-modaco-rom-kernel-samsung-galaxy-tab/

Most importantly, unplug the tab from computer before you switch to recovery mode..

I am having a problem with two widgets in my Tab. 'Post It Desk' and 'Smooth Calendar'. These two widgets keep disappearing after every Tab reset. I am using Zeam launcher. It is only these two apps that seems to be affected and nothing else. When i check 'manage applications' it is still there after reset but the widget disappear from the screen and also from the widget menu. Anybody faces the same problem?
