Overclock kernel at 1.2 GHz :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924654

Those of you are interested to upgrade this kernel, be warned that flashing this can format off your internal SD card. I read through all the postings and this problem seems to affect only some users. The developer still unable to trace what is causing it. Anyway I just couldn't resist trying it and my TAB during the flash process freeze. However switching it back on, it reset normally. Then I see the message on notification bar - missing internal SD card. Using a file explorer I couldn't locate the internal SD card and naturally cannot locate also the external micro SD card. However all the apps are still in the TAB and as long as the apps do not utilize any data kept on the internal SD card , it can still work. So basically, the internal SD card was formatted. I tried again , same result

So in order to get back my internal SD card formatted, I went into recovery mode and attempt to format it but unsuccessful

Last resort, I put the TAB into download mode and reflash Rotohammer JME ( with repartition and PIT ) just to revive it. Thereafter I followup by changing the filesystem to EXT4 using Modaco R3. Then I upgraded to Rotohammer latest JMG firmware

My TAB has now the best of both worlds : Modaco R3 EXT4 kernel and Rotohammer's excellent rom ( latest based on firmware JMG). Must say an excellent combination and haven't notice any bugs yet after a day usage. A pity I couldn't overclock it to 1.2 GHz

Modaco R3 kernel :

Rotohammer JMG firmware :

Good tried and nice share with all TAB fans here rclxms.gif . Luckily you become the 'test rat' for this Kernel. If change to me, will be another nightmare to me after my TAB was Bricked last week. I haven't tried Rotohammer JMG but very statisfy with the Overcome v1.0.3 ROM. This ROM provide more features that we can't found in the stock ROM. What's additional features that Roto ROM provide beside stability?

I was unable to duplicate your problem. Maybe is rom related issue. Anyway I am on cook rom - tested on both Modaco beta4 and Overcome 1.03 on Modaco's R3 kernel. Camera function and camcorder is I'd say perfect

Extract the z4root zip file in computer ; you will see a apk file. Copy the apk to your tab ( either internal SD card or external micro SD ). Use the built in file manager or a 3rd party file manager ( example astro ) - locate the apk file and tap on it , it will autoinstall. After install locate the z4root app in menu and launch it

Depending on your TAB , some cannot be root with z4root , then use method 2 as described in my blog :
http://leemn.wordpress.com/2011/01/23/root...the-galaxy-tab/
Method 3 is only for those who knows about how to issue Linux commands from terminal and is most unlikely you need it

I'd strongly you read some basics on how to android usage before you tinker with your smartphone. Refer to my posts for guides in post 1 -4. It is obvious that the basics of file management you are not clear yet

Any firmware now can be flash. Since last week there is a patch to installed to check whether bootloaders are signed/protected. Using the patch you can release signed bootloaders and flash new firmware safely. Learn more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071

Since you are a new user, spend some days learning about your rom before considering flashing. Maybe you are happy with it and flashing might not be necessary
*

Rooted my tab bases on method 2 after 1 failed.
Next is flashing!!!

Thanks again Benny & the rest of guru!!
Gong xi fa chai n hv a safe journey back to kampung.....n 8888:)

Same here, quite satisfy Overcome 1.0.3 at the moment and camera seem funtion well.
FYI, Overcome 1.0.4 and Roto JMI already out. Wow, JMI already. Really fast. rclxms.gif

@Benny, as you tried the [Kernel] [EURO] [1.2ghz OC/UV] RFS + EXT4 last time, what version did you used to flash? V6 or V7?
I also read through the thread and found most the forumers encoutered formatted their SD card was using Roto ROM. Even Rotohammer himself tried and same problem happened. Strange rite?
V7 seem not officially release but some already tried and found not problem after flashed.

Tried already. Not luck also, TAB stop at SAMSUNG logo and freezed.
1st, tried flash V7 on Overcome 1.0.4 ROM + paul kernel, result = TAB freeze at Samsung logo. sad.gif
2nd, flashed with Roto JMI and re-flashed with V7, result = TAB freeze at Samsung logo also. sad.gif
3rd, re-flashed with Roto JMI again and APN setting can't set and found 'unknown' at IMEI column. Scaring! shocking.gif
4th, quickly flashed using JME v4, APN enable again and IMEI restore back. rolleyes.gif
Again flashed using MoDaCo r3 Kernel convert to Ext4 but TAB freeze at TAB logo after covertion.
Still repairing and found my external SD card didn't formatted.

Phone charging the battery, seem like i out of battery already.
Will flash again with MoDaCo r3 Kernel after 2 hour charging.
BTW, does anyone here know how to backup IMEI in case we really lost the IMEI after bad flash?

When you wish to flash back to JMG or JMI it is wise to flash too the PHONE file so that you will have your mobile settings enabled not disabled. You can use JMF phone file from here

Thx Benny, the download seem just stop at 6xxKB, total size of file should around 12MB.
What you meant is, if flash with JMG or JMI ROM, should use this .tar and put in the PHONE column to avoid mobile setting disable?
This way i unable to set my APN after flashed with Roto JMI previously?
