3 month old.. cavy performance is vital (alfafa based) .. they need the calcium to grow.. after 6 month old.. only u switch to cavy cuisine....

i juz plan to switch to switch timothy hay now, currently feeding cavy performance + alfafa hay + veges

switch je.. no problem 1.. actually u can feed variety of hay. and u can already start buying carvy cuisine and introduce 1: 4 to ur current feeding

It may have mange mites. My gp had that too , he lost his appetite , fur lost and eventually died.

dont give ur gp so much veggie! it causes its stool to be watery and its not really good. I heard people recommend giving bread to guinea pigs.

if no bald patch it is not mange mites.. 1st sign of manges mites infection is u look at their eye.. if got crest.. it mean there is sickness.. then look at their paws... if it is dry there is sickness.. then u monitor the weight.. if keep on decreasing 30-50g per week..there is sickness...
veggie is a must but must feed the correct vege la.. i know alot of people feed them with cucumber.. for all i said.. cucumber is nothing but water no nutrient wat so ever.. it is jus a cooling food.. a big no no on tat unless on road trip.. giving bread to GP.. (full wholemeal bread is ok) they actually love it.. but try to avoid the white 1..

k i notice my piggy jumping and running very fast around the cage for the past few days usually after the lights are off, first i thought she juz popcorning. But today she seemed react that way everytime i tried to spot clean her cage with the brush. Is that normal?

Edit: After checking out some vids in utube, that's definitely popcorning. But why for spot cleaning?

i just bought a bale of timothy hay (20kg). The hay looks good. I buy it long time ago if i knew this, save money and good quality.

I'm so sad. I have 3 very active and cute guinea pig. One of them suddenly lose interest and always getting tired and sleeping in the corner. His nose breathing have sound and eventually mucus blocked his nose breathing and he have to breath thru mouth and causes wet chin. He been struggling with breathing until he's very tired and no interest to walk around.

I send him to vet after notice his condition getting worse. Docs said his lung isn't good from what she hear thru her stethoscope. She said my guinea pig condition is not good but she is relief that my guinea pig is still active and can still eat and drink, which is a good thing. Now after 2 days living in cage at the vet, my guinea pig is getting better but his eye show me that he is still weak.

I heard guinea pig with respiration problem (URI) are dangerous and mostly end up dying. I stopped giving him dried food, and feed him more veggies and fruits b4 the day I send him to vet. I heard giving them timothy hay is better because of high fiber which will aids his immune system. I also give him slices of apples as vitamin C supplements.

Anyone have the same problem before that you can share? I really hope I can do more for my guinea pig if it help him in his recovery.

it is best to reduce the amount of vege and fruit at this stage.. try giving oxbow critical care .. use warm water with a drop of tea tree oil to clean his nose area every now and then.. increase his hay and pellet amount if he can eat la.. but try to syringe feed him with critical care from oxbow..

some vets say if over feed with vege will make their stool very soft n unhealthy

But there is a medicine for it.. forgot what is it called.. read it in the internet before

for manges mites.. normally is tropical cream for the injuries and revolution /ivermertin for the mites (but need to be careful as these two require weight to ratio the dosage)

But one prob with her, is her skin is a bit dry altho with fresh veges and plenty of water suppliedt her everyday. May I know if there any oil that I can apply on her to make her skin smoother? I heard olive oil is useable. But any brand will do?
