Oh.. okay.. thanks for the clarification..

Another quick question here, anyone here uses skype? I read on skype forum that HTC phones have problems (voice quality, call drop, etc), so I want to check if anyone here faces the same problem or not. smile.gif

HTC Vision is the codename for HTC Desire Z and T Mobile G2.

Looking for change log of the OTAs. If anyone can find, post it up.

Anyway, OTAs should only be of concern if you're interested in rooting. Generally the stock 1.34 is best for rooting coz that's where all the rooting effort has been concentrated on. And if you have rooted you probably have flashed a custom rom over it.

However if you're fairly confident and sure that you will not go the root route, it's ok to install the OTA i guess?

Some say do s-off with gfree first coz OTAs will not change status of security flag. Do more reading on it if interested. The resources are at the front page (XDA, for short).

^2.3 is not out officially yet. So far the one of the 2.3 custom ROMs is CM7, which is very near to its stable release already.

Another is GingerSense which is based on the Wildfire S and HTC HuaShan leak. That one is as close to a Sense-d 2.3 ROM as it gets until Desire Z gets its taste of the gingerbread.

Oh there's also another one based on the Desire HD 2.3 ROM leak, which also has Sense.

There really isn't a point in watching 720p or higher resolution on the Desire Z (or any 800X480 screen for that matter). The maximum height is 480, so anything beyond that is taxing for the phone to downsize, but doesn't actually bring improved clarity/crispness. HQ I guess is 480p.

Hrmm it seem stock (vanilla android) messaging app doesn't have the select all option. I'm using chomp sms and there's an option to 'select all'.

^ i know from experience wifi eats 20% battery life per hour of non-stop data transmission (LYN-ing, youtubing, etc)

Leaving wifi on but no data transfer doesn't eat battery life that much (negligible in my case).

Possible be due to the file size. Generally if you phone can tahan one day with moderate usage then it should be fine. You can't really expect your phone to not have battery usage if you make it do strenuous work.

Try the same thing after about 2 weeks of normal using the phone. Maybe the battery is not used to being used yet.

But dun obsess too much with battery life.

^lol no smartphone can tahan heavy usage throughout the day.

Like no car can tahan going up and down the North-South Highway continuously without needing a refill eventually.

For me if the meter is approaching 40-30% in the middle of the day, if I have no intention to recharge it, I just control my usage and let it survive thru the day. Standby time is excellent, this thing.
