There is a dispute on this as the T&C states RM25 per card.
*
OK, better follow black&white T&C.
And, advice to whom it may concern, don't apply supp cards if cannot agree to T&C.

Just wanna know, can a maybank debit card be used like a credit card globally when I go travelling?

Any Debit card link here not?

Link provided by erry- above. Remember to go to MBB ATM to enable Visa Plus ATM facility and set Visa Debit transaction limit to higher than RM0, which is the default.

Credit card verification?

today i call to 1300886688 to check my credit card balance, the agent was asking me:
1.my maiden name
2. my ic number
3.full credit card number

Do they need to ask these four info for the verification?

Yes ... it is normal. What should be considered as red flag if they asked you for the CVV no. (which they are not supposed to)
Plus ... you are the one who called into the call center, so there's very little to be worried about.

Yes. Sometimes even other security questions, such as your mailing address, your registered telephone number, credit limit, how you normally make payment, your company, your favourite restaurant, your primary or secondary school, etc.

usually they'll ask for my mother's maiden name. As hye said, you call them so don't worry and you'll be asked the same things again the next time to call. Usually I'll start off the conversation by giving my card number straight away.

The VISA debit transaction limit for Maybank VISA debit card is defaulted at RM3,000, if my memory serves me correctly but it is definitely RM0. I had to set the transaction limit to RM0 myself last time as i knew i won't be using the card to pay for anything other than withdrawing cash from the ATM.

Sometimes CS officers really tested me seriously. I was asked some questions like "what's the 6th character of your security pin?" and "what's your memorable date other than your birthday?". This usually makes me think twice first before I could respond. sweat.gif

Are you sure such question were asked?
There's no way I could answer my security pin since I will burn it without reading it at all.

I have been asked such question twice or trice, but I cannot remember which bank it is. They didn't ask me the full pin, it's one of the 6 characters.

No. You can still use the card. The bank is more than happy to retain a customer if you wish to continue to hold the card.

Submitted a MBB 2 Card application form on 19-01-2011 9am. Yesterday I can see the MBB 2 AMEX and MBB 2 VISA at M2U. I am an existing MBB Petronas Gold holder and using a new application without IC and cc.

Tesco, Giant, Jaya Jusco, Parkson, Metrojaya, Carrefour, ISETAN, Best Denki, Harvey Norman, Kinokuniya, MPH and Times Bookstore all accept AMEX. As for petrol station, all SHELL and Mobil/ESSO stations do accept AMEX. As for Petronas, only very few of their stations accept AMEX and you must swipe your AMEX over the counter.

For Direct Access, you are required to create you own security pin up to 10 characters (can be less) and CS will usually ask what the the X character of your pin. Also there are other questions like favourite food or restaurant and memorable street, I think this system is the most secured unlike other banks security check where they just ask general questions like what was mentioned earlier.

Good question, yes American Express cards are accepted at pharmacies like Guardian and Caring, not sure about Watson as I seldom visit it. Got to add this info to my blog on Maybankard 2 Cards. But if you do spend a lot at Caring, better fo with AMEX Pantai card where you get up to 20% discount. Usually I use my Direct Access at Guardian because of the weekend rebates with points but with 5X Treat Points and 5% cash back, American Express Maybankard 2 is better.

Very efficient indeed. I guess this is because this product is so new and they have a sales target to achieve.

I can confirm that AMEX is accepted at both Guardian and Watson. I buy at Guardian and Watson a lot. Used to pay for stuffs with my AMEX all the time.

I recall that I was even thrown a question like "what's the 8th character of your security pin?". That CS officer really tested me hard as I only have a 6-number security pin. sweat.gif
