As in, for that price would you buy it? Is the movement, finishing and quality of it worth the price? Right now, I'm deciding between this speedy and the new planet ocean with the 8500 movement. I know both are under different categories and both serve different purposes but both are fantastic watches. hmm.gif which one would you guys go for?

as you rightly mentioned..both different style...speedy perhaps have edge in terms of history...a classic unchanging design..while the PO has gone through some new facelift....try out one and see which one sings loudest to you...lucky fella to be able to decide between these 2 beauties...

I also went to over to the Tissot shop at MidValley lst weekend and I saw a Heritage Limited Edition Valjoux -7750 chronometer. Price was RM 8,500.00 and no discount.

Other model can discount 25%.

But then it is quite difficult to get a Valjoux-7750 movement COSC.

I am tempted.

Some notable mention is the Ball Enginner Hydrocarbon Magnate ETA-2892-2 COSC @ RM 8,050.00 also Limited Edition. I am Salivating.

It seems these COSC Valjoux and 2892 movement are quite difficult to get whereas the 2824 are dim a dozen.

To give reader a sense of comparison, Rolex which is equivalent to ETA-2892/3 chronometer movement is priced around RM 20K above.

not really that hard to find COSC 7750 at that price.
ie
Guinand watch is cert Chronometer by German not swiss COSC, even harder to find.

2892 COSC not hard to find too, really depends where u look.
Rolex movement is not equivalent to ETA 2892 chrono grade.
finishing of ETA 2892 maybe better than a Rolex.

price and brand is not a good way to compare. Rolex spend more $$ than Ball in marketing.
Ball LE resale value is usually weaker than Rolex.

Thanks bro. The picture I posted doesn't do it justice because I crop the size for easier upload. The watch looks much better irl.

They come in Swiss movements? Most of the other (affordable) homage makers I know use the Asian version.

How's the quality of the case and crown protector? Lume lasts long? How much did they set you back?

Hi everyone, can anyone suggest me a watch to buy for my girl within 1k? or maybe slightly above?

Just a brief description on what she likes. She likes small watches as she got small wrists. Simple and yet elegant type.

Preferably with aluminum strap and not leather.

Thank you everyone!

1. What is the common discount that you can get? Possible to get more than 30% discount over the listed retail price?

2. Do you guys get charged extra for payment using credit card? Any tips on how to negotiate with the merchant?

Thanks!

1. sadly i have never gotten more than 30%. there's a shop in Gaint at my area, where i asked about their tissot seastar 1000 non-chrono, sales girl said 25% discount, if i kompom mau, boleh kasi lagi murah. i assume still can get more than 30%. lemme go "harress" that girl. brows.gif

2. nope. i never got charged with my cc purchase. im guessing the interest (if any) might be tied with the bank cc, i doubt it can be negotiated? im guess shooting in the dark on this.

type of watch preferred? chrono? non chrono?

im a seiko guy, so i'd say, for that budget, a seiko monster? or the skx007 or skx009.
