i got no idea how to even start installing O_O

1st of all .... does flashing Darky's V8 means i automaticly changing my firmware to xxjpy 2.2.1 or i should upgrade my firmware to xxjpy 2.2.1 before installing that rom??
2nd .... i dont even know where to begin ..... the thread @ darky's page got too much words.... and the instruction that i found was how to install the rom from 1 version to another ....
is there any step by step guide to do this ah ... sorry leh im a total noob at these stuff...

Noob is ok, its better you take initiative to learn rather than complaining here.

So to start, what's your current firmware? Do you want to do clean install ?

Very easy. First you flash speedmod kernel using the instructions given in the link by gajahwhite. Enable all tweaks or maybe lagfix too.

See if you like it. Don't like or want to explore further, then you download Darky V8.0 non wipe version and put it inside your /sdcard. Flash it using CWM. There is a tutorial video in Darky page (refer to the link gajahwhite given you).

After you have all the files ready, flashing speedmod should takes you less than 5 min. Flashing Darky V8.0 should takes you less than 15 min. Then you are done!! rclxms.gif

If you're using speedmod kernel, disable tweaks and lagfix before installing darky's rom. Darky's v8 comes with voodoo kernel.

Current firmware is DXJPE ... the official one from samsung..

i want a clean install.... I found a video on a guide to upgrade to the new ROM .... so i guess i follow that ...

But anyway.. wanted to ask this ....

Is Darky Rom a Firmware or what??? If i install the Darky v8 that means my SGS automaticly becomes XXJPY 2.2.1??

@ICH78

Without using "USE wireless network"...

How long does it take you to lock on to the GPS?

1. Cold Start
2. Accuracy
3. Indoor / Outdoor

Firmware if i wasn't wrong only exist in Samsung's phone, other android don't use this term.

Rom is a more general term for all android, custom rom means is a rom that was customized by a developer.
These custom roms are based on official or leaked source, means they didn't build from scratch.

Yes your firmware version will be XXJPY 2.2.1, but darkyy wrote it as "2.3.1", but actually is 2.2.1

Hope is not confusing for you

Before even trying to flash, PLS MAKE SURE ur 3 BUTTONS is function ie.

when u pressed Vol up + power + Home --- > Recovery Mode

when u pressed Vol Down + power + Home ---- > Download mode

If u dun have this, dun attempt to flash, else u will come back with lotsa problems.

The 500Hz is not the cpu speed. It is on how fast the kernel cycle the processes (multitask process).

cool.
thx for the info.

trying the kernel with JPA modem fix. so far it seems to consume less battery when WIFI is on.

Kinda happy for this because when I was using JPA firmware I have experienced really good battery life with the phone.

When u have 3 buttons working, it is easy to do anything u want.

If u wanna unroot, just reflash it, then it will be unrooted device.

Some phone do not have 3 button combo enabled, so make sure you check if your set has 3 button combo enabled.

Mine came with 3 button combo disabled, bricked once, went back Samsung, and they replaced a board with 3 button combo enabled tongue.gif

99% won't brick

If you're using Odin to flash, download mode is a MUST. It is for flashing kernels or firmwares
