Hey hihihehe, I propose to revamp the look of the guides in first post. We've hit a milestone, a year plus on lowyat and still have the same old look.
Could we have list of SGS users and such? Updated guides, updated kernels/roms links, updated froyos for asia pacific region and such. DXJPE: http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2011...tall-froyo.html |

QUOTE(headhunter7 @ Jan 10 2011, 10:48 PM) Hey guise. Today I got 1day, 16hrs of standby time , and that's with the stock rom LUL (xx hrs of Angry Birds, prolly an hr of talktime, lost of SMSes, wifi on and off quite a number of times). QUOTE(alvinz @ Jan 10 2011, 11:07 PM) stock rom? ... best i got was 74hrs on DXJG4 and around 50hrs on DXJPA .... now on darky's v8, lazy measure also as long as it can last me the whole day while i am outside ![]() ![]() ![]() Wah! how u all get tat long? QUOTE(kcwo @ Jan 10 2011, 11:31 PM) I am using 2.2. Phone is sluggish even with the launcher pro. Everytime I check the task manager there must be around 10 application running. I make it zero and after few minutes some application is running. I have uncheck background data and unnecessary application. Don't why still have background application running. Let than 8 applications and game install. Pretty sluggish. That's when custom rom helps. They are zipaligned to help in ram management. I never experienced such sluggishness even on stock rom though. I was using DXJG4 stock with 1gb full of apps, no such lags. Try to wipe all data and restore from titanium backup. Then go to market and download Autokiller Memory Optimizer. QUOTE(headhunter7 @ Jan 10 2011, 11:35 PM) HAHA nice " Y U " meme I have no idea. I'm just using it as how the phone allows me, not much configuration. Probably currently, I'm turning off auto sync and brightness is set to the lowest (at yet it glimmers like noone business, auto sync turned off because my data plan isn't activated yet =.=' ) But that's about it, for everything else, I'm using normally, angry birds, ebook , swiping left and right for no reason, an hr+ of calls, sms almost the whole day. Y U SO LUCKY?!lol... i have launcherpro friends widget synced every 15 minutes. maybe that's y la. |

Supercurio released Voodoo sound app on market. He's working on Voodoo kernel that would work with Voodoo sound. Hope it's coming very soon.

QUOTE(alvinz @ Jan 11 2011, 05:57 AM) eagerly waiting for it.. hehe ... wonder wats the difference with hardcore's sound/voice settings ... According to supercurio, it detects surrounding noise and adjusts mic gain automatically unlike speedmod, which is a quick fix. Also, it boosts FM radio bass. I like that cos I hate the sharp treble on my radio. Some other sound tweaks possibly a higher sample rate and such. Added on January 11, 2011, 6:55 amBTW, the kernel's out!! Go crazy people! Start testing. ![]() http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...321&postcount=1 FYI, this version doesn't fix distortion of sound during recording using mic. Supercurio tweeted "I'm already excited about the next feature: microphone auto-gain. Will be 100% by hardware, with the highest quality physically possible." QUOTE(lch78 @ Jan 11 2011, 08:44 AM) Just crossover to the Dark side. Got some questions: You can change your product code @ *#272*imei#. Doing so will wipe your data. Product code is for Kies to detect your region for updates.I remember someone posted before that changing product code will result in factory reset, is this true? What is the impact if I remain my product code at XEE and just add APN? (Besides warranty issue) |

QUOTE(gmhafiz @ Jan 11 2011, 10:19 PM) It isn't related. Thus what is the purpose of the the wording "Gingerbread Edition" in the title? I don't think I can get an answer from him. Cos he and a few others made the theme and he's the first one to implement Gingerbread look-a-like theme in his rom. I have nothing against his rom. I just do not like the person. C'mon be happy tat we have more choices of good custom roms out there. At least he's satisfying his users/fans by making it easier to install and all. |

Hey guys, I can't get a smooth configuration. I NEED LIVE WALLPAPER. That's the point I get android. But most of the LWPs tend to slow down the phone. Crap. I get smooth homescreen scrolling with Launcher pro but scrolling in application drawer is choppy. ishh... what launcher u all use? ADW/Zeam or Touchwiz?

QUOTE(lch78 @ Jan 11 2011, 10:45 PM) Big size LWP will slow down the launcher. Like the coca cola snow globe live wallpaper... You can try smaller size live wallpaper.. Ok thanks. Will try plume widget. But I am looking for both twitter and facebook in one widget and can status update both at the same time. Can't seem to find. LP widget is the best. Added on January 11, 2011, 10:48 pm For twitter you can try plume widget, quite nice and transparent too. Facebook I am still scouting for one. Has tried the transparent fb morph widget but it doesn't work on SGS. Don't know why... Only launcherpro has a good fb widget so far. QUOTE(gmhafiz @ Jan 11 2011, 10:48 PM) Considering he now uses R64 theme, there's no point of putting the word gingerbread in the title. I agree that the more custom roms are the better. However, I look forward to kernel hacks more than custom roms. There was a point in when there were more kernel hacks than the number of roms available. Personally, I am excited with supercurio's latest kernel Lol, he still uses his theme but with R64's notification bar. Ya kernel seems to make a lot of difference. By far speedmod and voodoo are the only stable ones. I don't like to OC, seems unstable and certain games will freeze. Ok trying zeam now.I use LP and touchwiz GTG. Try go launcher as well. Zeam seems like the lightest among all. You might want to overclock your phone. Just flash a kernel of your choosing. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Yup, trying tweetdeck. not fond of the widgets though. I'll going back to launcherpro. I am trying JPX modem but it seems to drain battery faster than JPY. Now using JPE modem. GPS sometimes goes off but it locks back quite fast. I liked JPX GPS better though. K12L-test1alpha is out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...&postcount=8863 Flashing now. This post has been edited by freakfingers12: Jan 12 2011, 12:07 AM |

QUOTE(alvinz @ Jan 12 2011, 08:06 AM) i am in UK now .. not to say forever alone la, just that everyone have different lifestyle .. i miss 2am mamak! oh ic... haha... QUOTE(asusman @ Jan 12 2011, 08:50 AM) I've installed PAPAGO! X5 on my new Samsung Galaxy S, however it doesn't seems to be working as usual. Are u on stock firmware? DXJG4? Try to update to latest JPE firmware. I never did any GPS fix thing because it kinda gets fixed in newer firmwares. Latest right now is JPY. The problem is the map keeps rotating (which I believe it's trying to locate my current position) endlessly in loop even though I'm standing under a clear sky for quite sometime. HTC Wildfire does not seems to have this problem as the phone can detect the current location within one minute. I have also installed the latest map version but still couldn't help much. I have used the Google map on this Galaxy S and it works fine and able to detect my current location within few seconds What could be the problem with PAPAGO! X5? Help needed here..... icon_question.gif How to Install Froyo DXJPE QUOTE(reehdus @ Jan 12 2011, 09:16 AM) hmm...this sounds like the Samsung Galaxy S GPS problem...SGS has a notorious problem with getting a GPS fix...there is a suggested fix though listed on the first page of this post. I'm just wondring if anyone has tried the hardware fix for this problem or is getting decent GPS performance. Stopping short of the hardware fix, is there anything I can do to improve performance other than the fix on the first page? I get terrific GPS. Locks within 5 secs most of the time and is accurate and stable. It's not a hardware problem. On a different topic...what is Touchwiz GTG guys? Another ROM? Touchwiz GTG is a modded touchwiz launcher. It replaces your stock touchwiz launcher. |

QUOTE(Fornx @ Jan 12 2011, 03:06 PM) if changing from 1 speedmod kernel to another(speedmod also).. dun hv to disable lagfix n tweaks right? those stuffs will be retained after flashing? I never disable lagfix, either from voodoo from speedmod from super optimised kernel from ya ok or from raspdeep, any kernel I flash, I don't disable lagfix nor tweaks beforehand. But I do wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing new kernel.Added on January 12, 2011, 3:22 pmHey guys, before Supercurio completes his work, try this out! Hopefully it works. The korean counterparts says it's fantastic. Trying it out now.
