lol i using 256 all the while, so now thinking to use 500~

1 more question...i saw this at the changelog
- Adjustments to IO scheduler Tweak (super smooth now!)

does it mean i have to enable IO scheduler Tweak only will become super smooth?  rclxm9.gif
*
When u open the tweak option, it is recommended to switch it on, as all this will just improve the UI for ur phone, make it smoother.

================

Jz realised our SGS can't really handle multitask hee...
was receiving files via Bluetooth from my lappy, i also download the voodoo app from market via wifi, 1st time seeing my phone that lagged to carry out this 2 jobs together since i 1st got it hee... tongue.gif

i think its due to that stock kernel is on JFS while speedmod kernel is on EXT4 ... i am not totally sure as thats my theory, maybe u can ask hardcore at the same time wait for someone here with much more technical experience to explain ...  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
stock one uses RFS. speedmod doesn't change the file system but you can choose the filesystem you want in recovery mode (JFS,ext4)

I once used JFS filesystem and it was super smooth, smoother than ext4. You guys might want to try it. Just disable any lagfix you have(if you have one) by going to recovery mode, and then select JFS.

QUOTE(Bugeca @ Jan 13 2011, 02:06 PM)
When you flashed the stock PDA file, did you remove the two files inside the PDA (factoryfs.rfs & param.lfs)? Only zImage is needed to have the stock kernel. The other like factoryfs.rfs is the ROM which definitely will wipe your phone.
*
I don't know where he got hardcore's kernel that contains factoryfs.rfs but if he goes to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756. Download the CWM version (speedmod-kernel-k12l-500hz-CWM.zip) or odin version. Flash it. Both conatins zimage but not factoryfs.rfs & param.lfs

Guys...sorry for being such a n00b...but the speedmod kernel here does not require that the phone be rooted right? Prerequisites for this are basically having Odin, the kernel and being able to go into download mode right?

Simple.

1st disable ur voodoo by either way:
1) create a disable voodoo folder in ur voodoo directory or
2) recovery mode - voodoo advance > disable lagfix

Once done the either of steps from above, reboot ur phone where u can hear the sexy voice

Then u can install speedmod ... CMW.zip from ur recovery

True, no need to be rooted. You can choose to go with odin route or CWM route. Are you on official firmware?

Disable voodoo and tweaks that you may have enabled first. I think it is a good practice to disable them. Then download the odin or cwm version, put it in sdcard and flash away.

I have just switched from SO kernel to speedmod just now while typing this smile.gif

Thanks for the reply...yup...I'm on official firmware...which means I'll prob need to do the 3 button combo fix first before I try the speedmod

If you can go to download mode (volume down + home + power button), no need to do the fix.
You also must backup /efs folder. store it somewhere safe (your computer, dropbox, etc)

Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596 and understand it.

ops .. i meant RFS .. my bad my bad ... tongue.gif
i think i tried once b4, using no-RFS advanced or is it to ext4? not a fan of lagfix though, the longest lagfix i use was OCLF since the early age of SGS with eclair .. oh that bring back memories laugh.gif

Generally, u can just flash it on top without disabling the voodoo lagfix .. but the best practice is to remove it then only flash a kernel ...
rmb to enable the tweaks once u got speedmod .. brows.gif

Hi sifus,

I'm planning to flash to Darky's v8.0.

However, I would like to format my Internal SD card to start from fresh. A normal Factory reset will NOT clean up Internal SD Card.

If i select Format Internal SD card, eveything will be wipe out, right? But will my phone boot up after that?

Where do I put Darky's ROM? In my external SD card?

What about CWM update.zip file? In external SD card as well?

Will my 3 button combo into recovery mode still works if the Update.zip file is no longer in Internal SD card after a reformatting?

Really worried I screw up and brick my SGS...

Help needed.

Thanks

I need help here.

My Google Latitude is acting strange. When I opened the application, I can only see myself and not my friends. It's not like they're stale for a long period of times. Some of them has just updated their location and I still can't see them. To see their icons on the map, I had to go manually into the friend list and pick them up, after that, it will show up in the map but will dissapear again after a reboot.

This only happens when I upgraded to Froyo. By the way, I've tried hard reset (clear cache and all), but it's still the same.

So, does anyone has any idea on how to help me?

Too many questions! too little actions!

Just do it, don't worry.

Format Internal SD card first, then only put CWM and darkky in INTERNAL SD card.

You can format from Settings -> SD card and Phone storage, then press format Internal SD card

First and foremost, it is extremely hard to brick galaxy s

Always put CWM update.zip and darkyy rom in internal sdcard. if you put it on ext sd card, it will located on /sdcard/sd folder - it won't work.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but ADB is supposed to allow someone to reboot the phone into recovery and download modes right. If that's the case...wouldn't that just be less invasive than installing a new SBL as recommended in the 3-button fix posted in XDA? Of course you would need a laptop to do it...but other than that, are there any flaws?
