QUOTE(+Newbie+ @ Jan 26 2011, 03:45 PM) But .... but ... my FM can play 2 poachers and tapau opponent wan wor!!! plus he had to deal with a whole nations guilt after a failed wc, ankle injury, and last one wch was of his own doing the contract saga.so a lot going against him but still he turns up for every game with fire and spirit more then anyone.sacrificing himself for the sake of the team, that alone should be the plus pt for him playing more the chicha.besides with chicha we have plenty of time and games to mold him, and let him gain the experience, no need for instant heroship wch we all know leads to disaster later.I was telling my friend, this Rooney is more the Rooney of 2008/09 rather than 2009/10. He isn't the last man and is not in the box as often as last season. Roams more, comes deep to get the ball often and gets shunted out wide more. However, even that Rooney scored 17 - 23 goals a season. He isn't getting the same service he got last season. The quality of service isn't as good and not all of it is going to him. A lot of it is going to Berbatov. He'll eventually get to scoring, no doubt, but the biggest improvement will come when his best friend, Valencia, comes back for two reasons. 1) He won't be asked to ply the flanks as often as a makeshift left winger. Valencia will go right and Nani left. So he will get to spend more time in the box. 2) He will get more quality crosses into the box, which is where he scored most of his goals, last season. Added on January 26, 2011, 9:21 pm QUOTE 12:15 Want to impress your mates in the pub? United have scored 34 goals on the way to collecting 34 points from home games this season... and 17 goals on the way to collecting 17 points from away games. Thanks to Rahul Singh for pointing that out. (NC) i bet no one saw this one This post has been edited by mhyug: Jan 26 2011, 09:26 PM |

All of sudden the money that we paid for Berbatov looks like peanuts.
You can tell when a striker is on top of his form, Berbatov last goal totally reflected that. Took down the ball from Scholes and straight dash to the penalty box, took on the defender and his shot was inch perfect to get pass the goalkeeper. Chicharito could have a hattrick last night but heck, ain't he a great goal poacher. |

QUOTE(calvin_yit @ Jan 26 2011, 05:46 PM) U can't really compare gibson with fletcher. Fletcher was only picked on when he was younger becoz of all the excessive hype and expectation placed on him when he was younger (the label "next beckham"). If we can look through all that hype, clearly from the first few games he played he's not the same player that beckham was. If we are able to look past that, and judge his performance objectively, he actually did a competent job on the wing (when fergie started him there earlier in his career) and was more than competent at passing the ball. In the last 4 years, after taking those steroids and harrying the h.e.l.l out of opposition CM and absolutely owning the midfield in big games did he get some form of recognition. They're almost similar really, in different ways. SAF saw the potential. Fletcher, big game player. The one who would run non stop. With Gibson he sees those long range screamers which would be very useful to have. And Gibson is a good passer of the ball when he usually gets involve. I thought that interchange between him, Evra and Rooney were good in the first 10-15mins or so. After that the whole side collapse. But let's put all the blame on Gibson. I'm not gonna go thru the route everyone seems to use when he comes good and say i told u so blah blah blah, had been supporting him from day one thru thick and thin.........u get what i mean.( been seeing a lot of these closet fletcher supporter). I just thought he was a competent player who had raised his game during the last 4 years and i am glad for him. However, as i am a bit lazy i might be wrong, I had never seen anyone substituted at the stroke of half-time as much as gibson when he starts a game. Not even during the "horrendous stick" period fletcher went thru. Something surely must be amiss here when everytime he starts a game, he doesnt appear for the 2nd half. If the writing is not on the wall for him as a liablitiy for the team, i dunno what is. We were down 2-0 away from home. And after a change of formation, he was playing out of position. And we have the evergreen Giggs on the bench who could turn the game around. Considering the What would you do? Hmm.. Let's see. Nani-Fletcher-Scholes-Gibson + Giggs It's no shame to be substituted at that time, considering the ability of those first 3 and who he went off for. If it was still 0-0, he would still be on the pitch. But we needed to chase the game that time, and he's not a winger. Only one time he went off at HT. And that was in last night's game. Keep looking. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/7...-gibson?cc=4716 Added on January 26, 2011, 10:11 pm QUOTE(calvin_yit @ Jan 26 2011, 06:00 PM) brother, tomolo no kuda,no magnum, no toto la. Today onie got. u still got 1 hour 10 min to place a bet. I give u toto nombor. He's still very much a work in progress. And it's kinda unfair considering he was out injured for a while before turning up in December. He's not the best talent around to be fair. And I can't see him be a first teamer for us. But he can be a solid(squad/backup) player for us IMO. That long range of his will be useful. And his all round game(passing) is quite good when he does get himself involve in plays. We'll see how this season goes for him. But my guess is next season he will play better. 24-26, that's when they shine these midfielders. Ando is hopefully on that step already. Too bad about his knee trouble.2(blackpool goal) 3(united goal) 10 (extra time) 15 (no. of min needed to turn game around) 28 (no. of the player i wanna see gone) 45 (the amount of minute we stank as a team last nite and oso the landmark time where "sir" ryan giggs came on and changed our season) FYI, the winner of toto get 28million Seriously, i know the whole team was bad in 1st half. i aledi said the 3 CM first half stank. but my opinion on gibson is not just based on one game. Its just that everytime i see him out wide, i kinda wanna cry for the FB playing behind him. Sorry tho about the sub bench. wasn't aware oshea didnt suit up. Woke up switch on TV, ngam ngam kickoff. Didn't see sub bench. Made my point on fletcher on wing during young career in the above post. Anyhow, i agree that gibson may had been given orders to make runs from midfield to support the attack. But the funny thing is (and i hadnoticed this a lot), he likes to do this weird move where he will pass the ball to fletcher who is in a tight position and then just ran straight into the penalty box when it is clear the pass was never on. Then i will go like W.T.F u doing!!!! This post has been edited by Wan: Jan 26 2011, 10:11 PM |

Fletcher is the best example we have on hand in terms of being patience with the player. I must admit I was one of those who doubt Fletcher's chances to be in the first team but as always the gaffer definitely know what he see in the training (which we all dont) and we are reaping the benefits now.

You aren't the only one. All of us barring Wan that supported Fletcher since back then. We were skeptical of him. We definitely learnt our lesson.Added on January 26, 2011, 11:21 pmSomething about Rooney and Hernandez that I picked up from RedCafe. Hernandez is lethal against teams that play a high line but less effective against a team that sits deep and forces him to receive the ball with his back to goal. These are the sort of teams that Rooney tends to do well against, because he can reap havoc in the spaces that appear between their midfield and back four. Proven when Hernandez scored our 2nd goal this morning. His pace will be useful when playing against that high line defense. As for Rooney, he will force the defender to make decision on either to come out and close him down but leave the space behind or stay on but risk Rooney running directly at them which is not fun at all especially when Rooney is on form Added on January 26, 2011, 11:21 pmSomething about Rooney and Hernandez that I picked up from RedCafe. Credits to Holloway for his post match interview.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ool/9373797.stm Credits to Blackpool supporters for giving Rafael the standing ovation when he was carried out in a stretcher. Plus, their team played so well in the first half and was a penalty(IMO) against Rafael. Peter Walton, sheesh. I hope they stay in PL. Wouldn't want them to be relegated. |
