She already retired from adult industry film, slowly shift to actual movie. Guest star more likely, even in Indonesia film.

Insurgent (2015)

Did a movie marathon on Wednesday.

Watched this first and the I Fine, Thank You, Love You (2015).

If you are reading this, chances are you had watched the first movie and is curious to see how they are to carry that story forward (like me).

Is it me or do current authors all have a dystopian view of the future (Hunger Games Series & Maze Runner Series etc)??

I can understand with the world in it's current State, who can be optimistic about the future!! (*Sigh*)

Anyway back to the movie.

Having browsed through some reviews (after I had a chance to watched the movie, which explains why I held back to writing my own reviews too quickly, which can be good/bad thing), I have a feeling that most people would "miss" the point of the movie/story....

Referring back to Hunger Games/Maze Runner/Divergent series, they are all "Ideology" based.

What do I mean?

I mean, ideologies like Democracy, Communism, Socialism, Fascism etc.

Unless you have lived through WWII, I do not think many a people gives much thought to these ideologies.

Which I think why these movie loses their audiences as their sequel progresses...

Hunger Games, to me, forces me to this about these ideologies the most.

And like the third installment of Hunger Games, Insurgent, unfortunately, tries to persuade it's viewer to submerge themselves into the world thought these ideologies and there I believe lays the issue. People go to the cinema nowadays to be entertained. Not to be preached to. Not to be forced to think about complex thoughts.

And when you do the above, it will hurt the movie's profitability.

Where in the latest Hunger Games, the leads mulls over difficult decisions, here the lead breezes through them, so they force people to think difficult thoughts and then waltz through them?? Hmm.....

Which make the story SO PREDICTABLE....

I have done this is the past, looks like I have to do this again...

I curse the day I have watched Divergent, I curse the day!!

Why? I have "OCD". Which means if I have watch the first part of something, even if I dislike it, I HAVE TO FINISH THE SERIES!!!!

Allegiant is a TWO PART MOVIE!!!!!

Arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Cinderella (2015)

Wow, no actual reviews yet?

I could have sworn the cinema was pretty full yesterday (Nu Sentral)

Or are you guys here too shy to admit that you have watched this!! tongue.gif

Permit me to stick my head out here.

I was bored, I actually had some free time yesterday and I went to watch and it is what you expect from a Disney Fairytale/Live Action.

Don't get me wrong. This is NO Alice In Wonderland (2010) (re-imagine by Tim Burton)

The script is very true to the Disney Animation Classic.

Kenneth Branagh is great. Everything he touches has an English sensibility, which is appropriate for this movie.

Nice to see Ben Chaplin (I remember him from The Truth About Cats & Dogs (1996) opposite Uma Thurman and Janeane Garofalo. You guys might remember him from The Thin Red Line (1998)) in a big Hollywood movie again (As Cinderella's Father).

Lily James, I feel, "tried a little too hard". I think she would do the role better justice, if she relax a smidgen.

Richard Madden who plays the Prince looks familiar, for the whole movie I went, where have I seen him before, where have I seen him before and after doing a search, Robb, the Game Of Thrones!!!

Derek Jacobi plays a fine and ailing King and Stellan Skarsgård a deliciously conniving Grand Duke.

Now for the reason I went to see this movie, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother. She is SO elegantly... CRUEL. Does she have no peer?! Alas no, as cruel as she is, I believe she had a hard act to follow... Namely, Anjelica Huston!!

I am not sure if you young'un remember, there is actually a Cinderella Live Action movie (sans magic), named Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998) where Anjelica Huston played the wicked Stepmother, and to date, she has NOT been surpassed in that role!!

Conclusion. This is a true adaptation of the Disney Animation Classic, Cinderella (1950).

There are no surprises, no twist and you know what happens at the end.

One basically watch this movie to see... how a pumpkin gets turn into a coach (And I do not mean a handbag!!?! laugh.gif)!!!

For the chicks reader, yes, the palace scene is great. And there are ballroom dance with all the bells and whistle (gowns, ballroom dancing, orchestration music etc). I am no expert but the Cinderella gown seems... "impossible" at times. In Green Lantern they had to CGI Green Lantern's costume... Does it mean they are now CGI'ing Cinderella's ballroom gown!!!?!

Oh! Almost forgot the wonderful Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother (Bib Baddi Bob Baddi Boo and all) ...

She is the goto "gal" for all the weird Hollywood movies chick character nowadays!! tongue.gif

Seriously, do I need to ask you to go see this??

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief - The damning documentary to Scientology
This is a testicular fortitude documentary that exposes the evil doings of the church of Scientology. Not just meager scam to milk money from followers but an elaborate network of blackmailing enterprise that carry out against the internal and external party. Group of high profile ex-members came out to walk through the bullshit scams and gut wrenching attitude towards the massive wealth they amassed under the guise of religion. Pretty fascinating piece of documentary that just hold no punches and will piss off a lot of people. Tom Cruise and John Travolta are among the gossipy exposé while high status ex-members blow the whistles on the inner workings. It's freaky on how the church able to get away from it all with the best legal defense they can afford.

Black Sea - Effective and serviceable but lacks appeal
It's a movie with all the right elements. Good casting, well shot, decent story and good pacing. So what went wrong with it is Jude Law no longer that commanding presence say 10 years ago and submarine movie as a genre not that hot at the moment. A recently unemployed private submarine captain lure to seek out a sunken nazi u-boat that suppose to contain gold bars. Quickly they assemble a heist crew from uk and russia to look for the fortune under the black sea. Greed and insecurity sets in as their beat up submarine descend further into their destination. Pretty watchable just missing the mass appeal.

Fast and Furious 7 (2015)

I guess any fan of the franchise will not miss this one and anyone who's a little familiar with the series will want to know how this one goes. Yes, I'm talking about Paul Walker and his untimely departure from the series. The good news is that FF7 will draw in the big bucks at the box office. The bad news is that the series will never be the same again if they decide to continue it.

With the above out of the way, let's get into the main topic : how is this movie, really? Well, as the latest entree to the Fast and Furious series, it does not really disappoint. The cars are here. The cast are here... well, mostly. Even those unbelievable stunts from the last movie made it here intact. I dare say that the stunts this time around were even more outrageous. Action packed it is but story's a little thin.

It's obvious that Paul's demise left quite a hole in the story. The movie started with Brain trying to fit into the role of a loving father and husband but finding it hard. He 'misses the bullets' as we were told. However, in the end, Brain apparently did a 360 turn about his decision. It felt kind of contrived but knowing that Paul left us with the film unfinished, it can't be helped.

If you have watched the entire series before this one, then you will find that there are lots of callback to the previous movies. They also tried to tie up all the loose ends and let it end on a high note. The plot is a bit 'out there' but if you are a fan, you'll forgive the plot holes and outrageous, physics defying stunts. You'll sit back and enjoy this 'one last ride' and you may find the last scene a bit emotional. After that I would suggest that you accept that FF7 will be the last of the series and treat any sequels that might come to be a spin off.

For me personally, this one is an OK movie. Not too bad but not too good either. So far, my personal favourite is still Fast and Furious 5. Since I'm a fan, I admit that I have let a lot of grievances slide on this one. Final note : I think it's fair that the let Brain's character retire from the gang at the end. There's no other way to do it and make it seems right IMHO. As with the last scene in the film, this one is for Paul.

Rating of this movie as a fan of the series: 3 out of 5 stars

Rating of this movie taken in general: 2 out of 5 stars

Fast And Furious 7 (2015)

Who would have thunk!!

James Wan has a butt fetish!! laugh.gif

Again I apologise.

I had chosen to watch this movie at a bad time.

Been rather busy and was dead tired, I actually fell asleep during the Dubai scene!!

In a nut shell, the movie is just OVER THE TOP!!

Car-Fu??, Really??? (I never really got, the American's obsession with cars)

Is The Rock out of his mind??? (Probably with all the Steroid he is hop up on to look like THAT for the movie...)

Also Tony Jaa was here, why??? His role is SO pointless??? Like Jet Li in the Expendables... So sad...

Also there seems to be a shift in Vin Diesel, and I think the shift happened after the passing of Paul Walker...

The shift seem to translate to Dominic seeking out death!!

I really cannot remember if I had watched any of the Fast and Furious at the cinema... Maybe the very first...

It was actually tough for me to watch this, know what had happened to Paul Walker.

The last scene when Dominic and O'Brien said good bye... Oh man...

R.I.P Mr Paul Walker.

A Girl At My Door - Acting performance showcase in a rather difficult subject.

A pretty difficult film to watch with it's child abuse theme. It's not a PSA or cautionary tale, a detail look at the relationship of a woman who takes pity on the girl who are abused not by her family but the whole village who in a way permeates the abuse. It's a little iffy on the story front, but the amazing performances of the two leads elevate the whole film. Doona Bae the current muse of the Warchowskis took a central role as a newly transferred station chief who repressively drink her self to sleep every night to escape her past. She stumbles upon the girl who are being harassed and beaten publicly on the rural fishing village. The girl instantly latches on to her for protection from the constant beatings done by the father. Kim Sae Ron of the man from nowhere is amazing as the abused girl who does the damsel in distress route with nuances of an unhealthy emotional state given the constant abuse done to her. It veers off to a rather dark development during the third act. At the end is a story of two lost souls finding solace with each other. Very good film.

I am sick...

I fear the cold... and had to wrap up like a sticky rice dumpling to go and watch

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)

Is it everything you want an Avengers movie to be?!!!

For sure and then some!!!

I watched this at 1Utama Imax 3D...

Even the first 10 minutes of the movie is worth the ticket price!!!

Action amazing

Story, strong.

Cast impeccable (Who would have thunk that Mark "milk slop" Ruffalo, makes such a fantastic Hulk!!!

(And now they are making Paul "babyface" Rudd Ant-Man!!!

I might actually watch this again and again and again...

Oh, for the important stuff, after the initial end credits, there is a mini movie, and after the end of ALL the end credits, NOTHING!!!

Just go watch this.

This is the movie to beat this year (and I have see trailers to Jurassic World [will watch this in Imax 3D as well], The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Mission Impossible 5)

This is Joss Whedon last outing as director of The Avengers.... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Of there are some spooky scenes in this movie (scarier then alot of horror movies...)

Here is a thought, Joss Whedon direct a horror movie!!

Seventh Son (2014)

Why oh why oh why-o....

Why are movies like this made?!!!

If they had USD 95,000,000 to throw down the drain, throw it my way!!! laugh.gif

Why is wrong with this movie??

Let me count the ways

1) Jeff Bridges is a pretty good actor. Why is he "channeling" Sean Connery here (accent). Terrible, just TERRIBLE!! After R.I.P. and now this?? Shame on you Jeff, SHAME ON YOU!!!

2) Julianne Moore (Dragon/Witch Queen)... Really??!? Seriously????

3) Kit Harington.... He did not even GET the chance to show his abs!!! (tongue.gif Yes, ladies, I am saying this on your behalf)

4) Ben Barnes (Tom Ward) grew up as a farmer (pig feeder) but after been "procured" by Jeff Bridges (Master Gregory) he is able to easily read ancient text and scroll.... Which farmer in ancient time did THAT!!!!!

5) I know I am cheesy... But this movie TAKES the CAKE!! Talk about cheesy dialog...

And many MANY more...

Hollywood, in the future, if you have 95 million to pour down the drain, call me, okay??

For those who like different take on vampire movie,I suggest Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
Starring: Tilda Swinston, Tom Hiddleston, John Hurt, Mia Wasikowska

It's been a while since I watch great vampire movies like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Interview with the Vampire. Only Lovers Left Alive reminds me more of hippie romance, but with it's own eeriness. It's not heavy movie, just love story between two vampires with sweet ending smile.gif
