Wetlands - The filthiest comedy you could ever watch.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

This is the most punk rock sex comedy, period. Grotesque, highly inappropriate, unhygienic, endearing, big on heart, and brilliant to boot. If you are game enough just be ready to say WTF many times over the course of the movie. And just take a wild ride with the impressive Carla Juri. Hope to see more of her in the future.

Its a good movie, not a blockbuster but definitely worth your time. I must say that this movie probably not for everyone, less dramatic compared to "Into The Wild" and no action or explosion for sure. Most of the time you are learning about this girl problem in her life and during the trail, her story plus you will get some views and input on long distance trail walking. It is a good and refreshing subject, cuz I even did some digging on this whole walking trails laugh.gif

I prefer to view this type of movie on laptop/pc or buy dvd/blueray. Definitely not a cinema type of movie. biggrin.gif

Into The Wood.

3/5.

good first half but they dragged the second arc. Should have ended with the happy ending instead of dragging the storyline with the female Giant.

Top Five - The best Woody Allen movie with d*** jokes and f-bombs.

This is the best comedy coming from last year. It's not the 22 jump street silly funny but clever comedy that is big on context. A satire of the entitled Hollywood celebrity played by Chris Rock who deem himself no longer funny and wanted to pull himself out of fading stardom. Strange enough his character was fashioned after Adam Sandler, who does make a killer cameo that shows he still has it when comes to edgy comedy. The slice of life narration is big with LOL authentic setpieces that was not recycled from any other movies. Rosario Dawson appears as a journalist to do coverage on Chris Rock's press junket tour. Instead of using stereotypical romcom tropes, they engage in talks about life. Say you have a boyfriend who like to receive anal sex, a bodyguard obsession with BBW, orgy party that goes terribly wrong,etc...while the crude sex jokes on full display, it still fundamentally a human connection story. Really stoke to see what Chris Rock can come up with his next movie. If you are a fan of Woody Allen and CK Louis, please watch this.

This Is 40 (2012) - comedy drama, but many bad words for kids...

The Man from Earth (2007) - too slow, boring, not my kind of movie... time wasting..

About Time (2013) - Wow, that is very good, totally charming.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

As other said before me, this film is not for everybody. I'm not a critic, just an average guy who like s to watch movies sometimes but I must admit, this is one of my favorite film of all time.

This film shot mostly in a living room in front of the fire place while a group of college professors are having a conversation. A sci fi film without the special effects but depends solely on the stories and dialogue. It will draws your attention on the film not because of the visuals but it's thought provoking stories and ideas, the very foundation of science fiction. This film leaves me wondering and thinking in the end.

Tokyo Tribe - Hip-hop musical from a mad genius

While there are dime a dozen of cult movie film directors from Japan, only very few proves themselves to be relevant at the international scene. The amazing late 90s cult movies industry from japan basically took a hit when the big daddy of that genre decide to go commercial. Takashi Miike last awesome wacky masterpiece was 2003 Gozu while he did score more than his fair share of success with the commercial films he made, but sorely missing his frantic energy and don't give a fuct attitude. Sono Sion on the otherhand always perceived as the second fiddle to Miike. He has been steadily crafting deranged cinemas all these while until Why don't you play in hell blew up at Sundance 2 years back.

As with any cult films, it's not about the story but the crazy and absurd energy of the film making. They are threading on mighty thin line of good taste as the perversion of sex and violence usually overcomes any decency of the story. Just like how Tarantino pays homage to the japanese cult film cinema in Kill Bill volume 1.

Tokyo Tribe is a film based on the popular 90's gangster manga where they are coated in hip hop cultures. It's a copycat of A Clockwork Orange. It's one of those style over substance stories. At Sono Sion's hand it became a 2 hour blast of hip hop musical that works better than the manga itself. You are not watching this for any particular storyline but just deranged set-pieces assaulting your visual sense. Gaudy art directions mixed with wacky action scenes as the character rapping away the silly plotlines. It very easy to dismiss these type of movies, just an acquired taste IMO.

I won't be surprised if Hollywood decides to rip-off the hip hop musical formula.

Jupiter Ascending (2015)

Managed to catch this at NU Sentral's GSC in Thursday (Atmos Cinema, Hall 3)

How was it?...

With a budget of USD $176, this is a lamentable MESS.

Only the first half hour of the movie is really watchable... And the funny thing is, I really wanted the movie to be good!!!

I have stood by The Wachowski, even when their previous few outings were blasted in General (Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas etc)

This is.... just plain bad!

Let's do a Top 10 of things that went wrong with this movie

One thing I did enjoy about the movie (apart from the first half hour) is Channing Tatum's hover boots!!!

End!

Into the Woods (2014)

Consider me amour'ed

The introduction of the different main characters!

The Song, the Music.

Brilliant 25 minutes of theater!!

The music stop, the characters goes their different way and we see Johnny Depp, another brilliant 5 mintues.

And than something peculiar happened, the movie went down hill.

The final nail in the coffin?

The movie had no chance of recovering after THAT!! (Also not so amour'ed anymore)

Movies has not been kind to me recently... sad.gif

Jupiter Ascending (2015)

Starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum is the Wachowski siblings' latest effort. I did not deliberately wanted to catch this movie. It was because I had some time to kill waiting for my car to be serviced in the workshop that I decided to give it a try.

Overall I must say that Jupiter Ascending is a decent movie though it barely passed the decent threshold. The action sequences are great. The movie is beautiful to look at and production values are very good. The story however falls short in a few areas. I liked the premise it was based on but I feel that the Wachowskis failed to capitalise on it. The characters were a little on the thin side and many things do not really gel so well. If you just take it as an action sci-fi flick, you're fine.

Would I recommend it? Not really. Would I warn people to stay away? Not really either.

Ratings : 2.5 out of 5 stars

Oh My Fortune God!!

What a start to Chinese New Year!?!

This is the BEST Chinese New Year movie ever!!!

Story, Gripping

Direction, Clear

Budget, Well Used

Casting, PERFECT!!!

This is a very WELL DONE movie!!!

I kid you not.

My only concern is because of the violent nature of the movie, this might not be suitable for all

This is a 4.9/5 movie for me!!!

The Wachowskis, this is HOW IT IS DONE!!!
