If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

3. Go into an enclose place (total darkness needed) wait for a while (to let our eyes get use to the darkness) and view into the phone screen.
4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other
devices. Anyone can use these color cards to verify on others AMOLED display devices as well...

03. Default browser randomly crash and causing an auto soft reboot.(CONFIRMED) - when surfing mostly on those heavy site the browser will crash for no reason (confirm not cause by low resource). - try disable the "Java/ECMA script" might help on some heavy scripted pages.
04. Call Logs missing even set to keep for 30 days.(CONFIRMED) - Logs over flooded by network connection logs. - Logs having limited overall entry although set to keep for 30 days.
05. Screen won't be fully turn OFF after the charging complete popup message(CONFIRMED) - Plug in the charger and let the phone to charge. - After the charging complete, a message will popup, do not disturb it and let the phone to turn off the screen as usual. - Turn off the surrounding light (a total darkness needed to observe the screen). - When look the screen in total darkness, you can see a grayish screen with some dark spots (dirty stains).

02. UI Improvement - Experiment Mod - Experiment mods, changed the default FPS from 67FPS to 33FPS and max processing power from 75% to 100%. Need more users experience feedback on it's actual improvement (if it have any)

sklchan, what's the diff btw v3.30 UI improvement and the previous one ? Does 100% processing power uses more battery power ? Does maintaining 100% processing power all the time will consume battery power faster ? The last mod, the exit thing, is it possible to add exit 'Menu' as well ? In the original N8, when I open 'Menu', and exit by touchscreen (Exit on lower right), when I check the apps manager, 'Menu' does not close.

if i delete the destination like 3g ..wap service...next time i unbarred my line so i cant use 3g anymore? since the setting edy gone

the black plastic not so nice looking, so add on carbon fiber sticker on it will change a new cases next month or this month.... this one cheap cheap only....
whatsapp doesnt suck ur data a lot, but at the meantime it makes other functions of ur phone connected. and then those apps will synchronise and refresh and whatsoever they make sure they suck u dry.

hey...after i uninstall whatsapp..it seems work...my phone didnt keep pop out the "connection failed" thing since my line is barred...normally when the time im playing my phone every 5mins the msg will pop out...now dunhav any more...hopefully the problem solved

wat u all don't understand? Anyway signing apps is for some apps that are unsigned. So u use signing tools to sign it so that ur phone will accept that the app is signed.

I have the same problem. When the installation bar almost at the bar, it showed "unable to install unprotected application form untrusted developer". Try many times to resign using SignSIS, installing, and even a few reboot. Still can't install the mod.

don't try that. It gives tat error message since last year. Which is the main reason why i started using signing tools in phone.

lucky mine turned out ok. the screen rotation is very nice though. not slow anymore and not too fast.
I got no prob installing it too. and yeah screen rotation is more responsive. picture size become SO BIG though, 7MB!
for those having problem signing the mod; 1-dload the mod to your pc 2-copy the mode into your N8 mass memory 3-extract the mod 4-sign the extracted mod 5-install 6-voila!

that means u cant install any mod right now? mybe bcause u hvnt restart your phone or there's some conflict with internal commands. the fon thought it cant do it.

Now I blurr ady I thought just install freesigner then sign app? Maybe I didn't request this cert that's why im getting error signing the mod?

use ur ovi suite lo.... plug in usb cable then open ovi suite and select software update then u can see there got ovi map update, click it then it will auto replace for u, after that it will uninstall the old map and install the new one, select which u want lo, and the voice ald. then just wait it download finish then all done....

I tried to search what app installed.. but it seem all installed same as mine one... just wonder why it play video lag...(no matter HD or not HD, mp4, or avi all lag, except video captured by it own.)

rotation 360 means u turn one round and arrive at ur original angle edi. Haha. But i don't think can la. Only iphone can.

my one just bought last week, is new batch, but market less stock for now.. some shop they bring up the price to RM1800... my working fine and no problem, it hv been update the software.

i bought at RM1599 at gurney plaza nokia shop. mostly nokia shop no hv stock, but they selling RM1690 and below. RM1800 is at phone stall one... they chop ppl one... i asked one shop before it sell 1799, i direct walk out from the shop, some more is nokia shop, then i call to HQ and F them, they call me gv the shop detail for them... ald given the detail for nokia HQ, dunno they will take action to the shop or not... if u are near to pg, i recommend u go to gurney plaza 3rd floor charlie cellular, i bought from there, service also good...

I think got stock. They had more than 5 unit on display.
yes.. i found that when my friend n8 charging, when the phone heat up, it play video more lag, & camera interference also very lag. That's mean maybe is the motherboard heat up so fast & cause it lag!!!
I think it may not last longer lo, sure it die soon. Need to bring back NCC.

I will recommend to use Flickr. If you upload to other sites like ImageShack, FB and others it will degrade the photo quality. Flickr in my humble opinion is still the best and if you upgrade to PRO edition (RM 150 for 2 years) you can use it as an online storage and not worry about your HDD fail on you.
Just my 2 cents.
BTW, N8 rocks like hell for a beginner photographer. Ever since I got the DSLR, I appreciate the N8 more as it makes taking good photos so much more easier.

my Matte is not mugen de. Is Others. But ya it kinda sucks. U can keep seeing light spectrum on ur screen. Agito was using Matte oso then Beh tahan edi.

Just the charging time. If the bh505 input mah is example 300 . U put 800 also it will only go in 300.
I heard our N8 will be clocked at 700+mhz for the pr1.1 update..

look at Meego and Honeycomb.just unveiled at CES2011.i think its good enough as a tablet.

my n8 seems to have some problem....da message i sent is local time but da timestamp for message received is 6 hours later.....sigh.....checked all da settings in time and date...already set to gmt +8 but still da same....sigh...wat am i suppose to do?
Ow... stupid loh charge me like siao... later i test with n8... skype... hope don charge me or i will spit blood.
i use skype sometime will cause some slightly hang ...like u hav a group chat..open it might spend around 10-15 seconds ....and when u wanna hide it at the background...will hang awhile ...do u hav this prob?
somemore the msg that other people sent to u might not on time as well the messeges will suddenly pop out alot 1...

set the time zone, then change the time again. then check again the time zone. power saving..if necessary automatic time update off

Use Photoscape. It's free, light and easy to use. Google for it!
hve u tried any movies in 720p?if yes mind sharing the link?
Try youtube. I have taken quite a few movie recordings using the N8 at 720p and have played it back with no problems at all. Have you tried recording with the 720p resolution and played it back to test?

first time take n8 from maxis store...enjoying the 3g function on my phone..then 2 weeks after my phone barred i was like wtf..checked bill..rm330+ ..i wonder how come i seldom make call but the phone bill reach that amount ? i paid..unbarred my line..and seeking advise here ..some sifu tell me change the data / roaming watsoever to KNOWN WLAN only..i did that ..set everythig widget off9...and i tot will b ok ...at the end..1 week after..phone barred again...checked bill on9 ...rm280 + ...this 1 i din paid until now...hav to confirm everything only i go and pay..otherwise i jus paying nonstop while im jus minor internet user...fxxk off maxis

when u take some pic with n8, if there is some lighting (for instance, candle) inside the pic, it will cause ur pic to look 'blur', like sth is covering ur lens

I don't really see it as a problem If ur lighting, angles and settings is right it won't be a problem

try other things lo... like spot light or neon lite in the pic, i mean maybe on the right or left side...then maybe ur theme like flower etc in the center... see whether the pic will look blur or not if using the auto mode?
