2 x 9liter ADA Amazonia Soil Regular ( Out of Stock atm ) RM88 each
if for lighting it depends on what you wanna go for... is those low mantainence plant ie: Ferns or Anubis.. go for 80Watt will do...
you need CO2 for it too around RM200 for a 4.5kg tank ( fire extinguisher ) and Solenoid RM300

total calculate yourself...
p/s: Is NOT RECOMMENDED put Gold Fish with Plant... they will eat it...

First, give us a budget, how much your willing to spend???
I can only recommend you to change the lights, you need to change to light bulbs with spectrum of at least 6500Kelvin, the ones you have now are not suitable at all.
Please tell us what kind of light bulbs they are, T5??? You probably need to add some more lights as 20+18w is definitely not enough for a 3 ft tank

If you dunno, then just take a picture of it and post it here.

Freestyler, u miss out the CO2 accessories such as bubble counter, check valve, diffuser, & regulator. the items for a full set of CO2 might cost u RM700++ (including the accessories)

nope. RM700 ++ is too much... dun scare him..

a normal full set of co2 system usually cost under RM400, provided u dun get solenoid..

tank - rm200
manual regulator - rm100
diffuser, check valve, counter - rm50 can settle
tiub - rm10 can settle
tiub holder - rm5

all above total up less than rm400 (prices i put d extra, ie u should be able to get manual regulator under rm100)

cause i quoted him/ her with electronic (automatic) regulator..... he/ she doesn't have to adjust so many times lol

the full set of Co2 already get.. (1liter) last few weeks i bought it at 88 pandan indah.. it cost RM300++, now i'm using on nano small tank for test...

my cost was bout RM1k only.... N i hope to get 1pcs Eheim canister filter, a lot of choice n expensive, after get the eheim, budget no more lol... dunno which 1 suit for my 3ft tank...
n hope to using the ADA soil, it cost expensive also... sad...
above 2 this thing and change the light bulb will over my budget??

What model for ur eheim filter? how many litres per hours (i mean water flow rate)? 3ft Tank.... maybe u should get Eheim classic 2215.
Soils... u need at least 9L of Africana (now Amazonia no stock) for 3 bags & another 1 bag for soft soils (same Africana) for u to plant front ground plants.
CO2 1 litres? i think u would only used for a month, then u have to go for refill...

But it's ok for u to try.... at ur nano tank.

Co2 you need bigger tank as all of them have said, reason is because the refill for 1kg to 5kg tank is all at the same price. You will be using more as its a 3 ft tank.

Eheim canister filter you need at least 2215 or 2217, there is someone selling 2nd hand 2215 at RM250 here, complete with filter media, http://www.my-mac.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15382, you'll need to register yourself as a member there to view it I think.

ADA soil, I would not recommend you to use Africana, its nutrient deficit as compared to ADA Amazonia. As there is no stock now, you can try other brands like RedSea etc. You can reduce the amount you need by putting in crushed lava rocks at the bottom and more at the back of the tank for a good slope(optional)

The lights you definitely must change, cause they can't grow any plants at all. You can postpone the changing of the Co2 tank now and focus on the filter, lights and soil.

BTW, where do you live? so we can direct you to the nearest and most recommended LFS there.

If you can afford 2217 for your 3ft tank. Go for it. I have a 2217 and 2213 for my 3ft. 2215 feels just ngam ngam for 3ft. If you plant densely, the flow is a little lacking for my taste.

I using 2234 now.

about 3 feet.just for display outside my house in my balcony.i want to keep some fish in my aquarium there becoz to my balcony interesting..
i am not particular on what fish as any fish can do for it.
in the meantime i don't have any filter yet

ur tank might get algae since it will get direct sunlight.... if u want some fish, u need to plug on a filter to make the water cycling before u puuting them inside.

my aquarium has a top so that sunlight will not get to it and it will be shield from sunlight.
for filter is it necessary to have it?how about only providing oxygen only????????????
