QUOTE(fionayee @ Apr 10 2011, 09:21 PM) Yes...so if I want a planted tank need to get ADA soil is it? Dear fiona; How often do I have to give the fertiliser? I have a rectangular fish filter, those normal one for the tank...is it needed or planted tank don't need filter? At the moment I don't have co2 but after seeing your thread, the price being cheaper by RM100 and x2 of the weight compared to the price my LFS is selling at,I've decided to get 1 from you so you got PM LOL,sorry for all the questions. Here r my suggestions: 1. put 1 bag of power sand type "S" at lowest level (u can ask Michanz for advice too) 2. put 1 bag of 9L of Amazonia (rough) soil. If u can't get Amazonia, put Malaya soil (additional step: u can put 4 pieces of Root Power after adding ur soil, a type of fertilizer that help ur plants rootgrow healthier) 3. put 1 bag of 3L Amazonia (fine) soil. If u can't get Amazonia, put Malaya (fine) soil ((only u feel necessary) 4.don't put ur fish for the same day u're putting ur plants, after u fill in the water into ur tank 5. how to fill the water? U can ask ur friend helps u or put a plastic on top of ur soil until 20% of ur tank full. This would help u for not making ur water murky. 6. plant ur water plant by the help of long forseps (more easier) 7. repeat step 5, until u tank fully filled 8. setup ur 2L Co2 (cylinder) with the accessories, such as regulator, bubble counter, check valve, & diffuser 9. u can start switch on ur light & Co2 tomorrow (the next day) after u finished step 1 to 8. Be sure that ur filter (canister filter) is running all the time **For the first week, please switch on ur light & Co2 for 5 hours per day only. It's to reduce ur plants & tank from getting algae problems** **Please plan ur tank with the water plants species, some need colder water temperature & more density of light** After 1 week, u can put ur fish like Molly, Guppy, Neon Tetra, Cardinal Tetra, etc. Of course, u can switch on 8 hours per day for ur light & Co2. To ensure ur Co2 & light switch on automatically for 8 hours everyday, u can setup ur Co2 by using electrical regulator & with the help of timer. Hope these steps can help u. p/s: if only u feel my suggestions confusing, u can refer to the expert that u think u can understand well hehehe This post has been edited by Namgor2006: Apr 10 2011, 11:10 PM |

I've kept cory before... but my cory only last for 3 mths after buying.
I bought another 4 corydoras again, and the same thing happen. Is that different types of cory need different water condition? I actually kept albino cory & green cory before @,@ |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Hmm.... it's interesting to have plants in an Arowana tank. Hope u can get bigger tank such 5ft X 2ft X 2ft, and put plants also ur plants turn a bit yellowish because u're using sands & less CO2, perhaps it is ur light problems... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still thinking to add more plants (java ferns or nana) as i only putting 2 pcs of CO2 Tablets per day, which i know that it's not suitable to put plants like carpet or glossotigma. Hahahaha.... This post has been edited by Namgor2006: Apr 29 2011, 01:36 PM |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Hehehe... my tank is very simple one (3ft X 1.5ft X 1.5ft) bought about a year ago... 4 months ago, i used to put other plants (not java moss & java fern) But the plants died within few months (perhaps 2 months) Please refer to this link: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/fbx/?set...&type=1&theater I stopped for a month & put the new plants as what i have now, my java moss (some of it) turn brown before i putting CO2 tablets. Since i am new with planted tank, (i actually don't know how to tie the moss on the rocks & wood) i'm putting my moss under my driftwood & rocks. Water temperature is very high, average 29 degree celcius, pH unknown cause i never test my water I do WC once every 2 or 3 weeks, and change my filter wool once a month. Yes, i know the plants i put in my tank is low maintenance... but i just want to keep them longer (not only for few months), therefore i try to put CO2 tablets for my tank Don't worry, i won't put glosso as i know my water condition is not suitable for this kind of plants as it's too hot. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « What model for ur eheim filter? how many litres per hours (i mean water flow rate)? 3ft Tank.... maybe u should get Eheim classic 2215. Soils... u need at least 9L of Africana (now Amazonia no stock) for 3 bags & another 1 bag for soft soils (same Africana) for u to plant front ground plants. CO2 1 litres? i think u would only used for a month, then u have to go for refill... But it's ok for u to try.... at ur nano tank. Good Luck |
