Haha they have mention some very minor tweak of exposure on certain picture but they always strongly advise they are always finish the beautiful shot without editing = =, I have see their sample which is amazing and felt like heavily photoshop it and win in what photography awards in England or other country. Those photographer are also from the film era and they said they used to carry power pack and snap the photo using lighting control during that days...
*
That's why I say denial lor... denying that digital is the way of the future. I can also say that they are cheating mah, if follow their logic:

1. They bring lighting equipment to enhance and add to the ambient light - cheating!! Why not just use available light as is? More natural isn't it? Why wanna change the lighting?

2. Use filter to add colour or contrast or whatever - cheating!! Why need to add anything to the original scene? Original is original - add already then become fake lor, isn't it?

3. Use reflector or diffuser - cheating!! Cannot alter the original light mah... If alter already then fake lor...

So in that logic, then the greatest photos are those snapshots taken by aunties using film PnS lor. All also never adjust just snap only and everything is like the original. wink.gif

errmm...some questions from newbie here:

1) what is the cheapest price for the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM lens in KL? where can i find it?
2) is it compatible with the A33, as i heard there are incompatibility issues with sigma lenses?
3) is there a non-OS version of this lense? (should be cheaper, right?)

cheers.

Hi, I'll replying to your question

1) I'm not sure about the cheapest price for the Sigma 17-70mm because I'm not from KL but you can search for the sigma official distributor (can't remember the name of the company sry)

2) It is compatible with A33. The incompatibility issues are with old lenses which does not recognize the A33. Make sure you check when you buy it. If you have no choice then just send it back to Sigma for rechipping (should be free of charge). The new lenses from Sigma should have no problems whatsoever.

3) There is an older version of the lens (Its cheaper too) which has no OS but it does not have the HSM so there is no silent focus. If no HSM then you're better off getting something else such as the Tammy 17-50mm as the sound generated during focusing will annoy the hell out of you during video taking.

Hope this helps to clarify a bit, correct me if I'm wrong =)

thx for the reply, yuhi. i see that u're also funding for the same lens in ur siggy. good luck.

i guess the newer version with OS should be better since it's with HSM. i thought i could save some money coz OS is already built-in with the A33. smile.gif

i'm not really brand-specific. i just feel that the 17-70mm lens suits my needs and should compliment my 18-55 kit lens. i was aiming for the SAL18250 telephoto lens instead but i foresee that i'll just under-utilize it. if tamron offers a similar 17-70mm f2.8 lens, then i do not mind. smile.gif

zstan: it states that it's "new" on Sigma's website. i think it's the non-OS, non-HSM model that was discontinued.

a full body shot might work better IMO. and the sky is totally overblown. should stop down a bit and fire flash or do a HDR picture or with a polariser or a ND filter. my 2 cents. blush.gif

how does the 17-70 replace your kit lens? the f2.8 is not constant wei.

its good enough for a beginner. though nothing fancy though. but i like the slightly bigger view finder on the a290 though. if can save some more money, might as well get a sony a33.

zstan: very easy to go smile.gif i walked myself there the first time, 2nd time is my first time driving in KL, also manage to drive there... so i guess u will not get lost gua

wingster: example of editing.

adding birds into picture IS cheating
removing birds out from picture IS NOT cheating....

in a lot regulation of photo competition.

funny. smile.gif

----------------------------------------

to me editing or not, its personal thing.
in competition, editing or not, the judge has the final say, no you. smile.gif

edit or no edit, as long as its a good picture, it is a good picture.
